She was jolted back to reality by her Aunt, seeing her somewhat lost in her own world.
"Darling, why are you crying? Are you alright?"
She didn't realise she had been crying, tears blurring her vision and fogging up her glasses.
"I'm fine.....fine, Aunty M-mae," she said wiping her tears with the end of her sleeve and sniffing at the same time. She hadn't wanted to to cry, but remembering her parents and the moments she had shared with them brought out all the emotions she had kept bottled up.
"Oh darling, it's fine, please clean those tears. You'll be fine here I promise, it's a nice University and the students here are nice as well," she consoled her, mistaking the reason for her tears to be Hazel been nervous.
"Mr Decker's son, Louis, goes here too, but I think he's in sophomore if I'm not mistaken and he's a nice lad." She said soothingly.
"I hope you both get along, let's get your schedule and sign the other documents to finalise your admission now, Hazel," she said pulling her into the building with a mesmerising water fountain in front of it. Water poured from the beautiful cherub statue's pail in the centre of the fountain, into the main reservoir, making a splashing sound.
It was an impressive fountain.
"You're already two weeks late as it is, let's not waste anymore time."
It was even more breathtaking inside, the interior design was even more beautiful than the exterior. With it's dooned ceiling lined with beautiful chandeliers, it's exquisite crystal windows and it's jade toned white tiled floor, it was simply out of this world. Her jaw dropped to the floor in awe, she looked at her aunt standing next to her, who mirrored her expression.
She then wondered how the other parts of the University would look like, if this one was this beautiful. She looked forward to seeing the University, she kept looking around but didn't miss the way she and her aunt were stared at by some of the people going out and coming in. It was different from the looks she got, this time, it wasn't because she looked odd, it was a different kind of look. It was the type of look you have on your face when your best dish was placed in front of you. It felt weird, there was something different about the place but she brushed it off.
They approached the receptionist, who looked quite busy as she typed furiously on the laptop in front of her.
"Hello," her aunt greeted, the lady looked up with annoyed eyes but answered nonetheless.
"Hi, how can I help you, ma'am?" She asked politely.
"Um... We are here to get my niece's schedule, she's a freshman," her aunt replied to the lady, who in turn nodded before typing something, then replied.
"Take the elevator to the office on the third floor."
"Thank you," Aunty Mae said smiling at the Lady who nodded with a smile of her own before continuing her work.
