Nathan didn't leave; instead, he stayed at home. Just as he was settling down for the night in his study, his phone rang. It was Iris. After a moment's hesitation, he answered.
The moment the call connected, Iris's delicate voice came through.
"Nathan, I watched a horror movie tonight, and now I'm too scared to sleep alone. Can you come over and keep me company?" she pleaded.
Nathan frowned involuntarily upon hearing this.
"Everything in horror movies is fake. Just go to sleep, and you'll forget all about being scared," he responded coolly.
Iris's heart tightened at his indifferent tone. It was unlike Nathan to refuse her like this. Could she still be on his bad side, and that's why he didn't want to come?
