Chapter 2 - The School sweetheart

"Pssttt…"

"Psstttt"

"Hey!!!"

A girl aggressively whispered to the nerdy girl, Maria, sitting opposite her.

"Pass this to Nolan" she whispered again as soon as the girl looked back, handing over a squeezed piece of paper.

Not wanting to get in trouble, Maria worriedly looked at the Spanish teacher, Mrs Binney, currently teaching, she turned back at Stacy again and saw her unimpressed expression.

Maria quickly turned away, with the squeezed paper in her hand.

He was sitting just opposite her so Maria carefully before pressing her finger against Nolan's back. This caught his attention, he tilted his head slightly and at the corner of his eyes saw the paper being pointed at him from the back.

He looked back and saw Maria staring at him.

"It's from Stacy" she quickly whispered to avoid confusion.

Nolan tilted his head and saw Stacy, her eyes slightly squinted at his gaze.

Her cheeks turned red under his gaze making his lips curve into a smile as he turned away and read the note.

"Do you want to hang out after school? There's this house party at my friend's house, would be fun ;)"

He turned again and gave Stacy a wink.

His eyes caught another girl smiling at him from across the classroom, the corner of his mouth moved up at a diagonal, smiling back at her.

"Nolan!"

Mrs Binney called.

He turned around and saw her staring directly at him, Nolan's mouth widened before turning into a soft smile.

It was not his first time being called out in class, it was the norm for him and his classmates.

"Mrs Binney…" he gently said as he gave the woman a warm smile knowing what she was about to say.

She moved closer to him, noticing the paper in his hand.

"How are we doing today?", he asked.

Mrs. Binney shook her head as she took the paper from him, she sighed and returned to where she was standing, not surprised at the random letters Nolan gets in her class, she threw the piece of paper in the bin.

"How many letters is it for you today? Eight? Or nine Mr Cole?", she asked and saw Nolan shrugging.

"So who sent Nolan that?" Mrs. Binney asked and immediately all eyes were on the nerd girl sitting behind Nolan.

Her eyebrows scrunched up out of fear.

"Stacy sent it", she responded without hesitating to avoid getting in trouble.

She wouldn't have gotten in trouble in the first place since Mrs Binney was the most friendly teacher in Westwood but she said it regardless.

Maria was not the one to put herself in a position to get into trouble, she avoided it at every cost, and even though she was named the nerd, she took it and ignored everyone. All she cared about was maintaining her 4.0 GPA, making friends wasn't an interest of hers.

Stacy glared at Maria and hit her chair with her leg.

"Come on Mrs. Binney, it's just letters, it's not like we're smoking weed or doing drugs", Nolan had said.

His classmates laughed out at his words.

Mrs Binney shook her head again and gave Nolan a stern look.

"It was a good idea to not bring my daughters to Westwood, they would have also been enchanted by great Nolan charm… it was a good idea", she said.

Everyone in the classroom laughed apart from Maria who knew what was coming for her after Mrs Binney had left the classroom.

"Bring them, Mrs Binney" one of Nolan's friend's echoed

"They would love it here" another one chimed

"Vale, clase, concéntrate" (ok class, focus)" Mrs. Binney immediately said,

"Y no más cartas de amor en la clase (and no more love letters in my class), she added and continued from where she stopped.

After a few minutes, Nolan raised his hand which drew Mrs Binney's attention to him including his classmates.

"Yes Mr Cole…" the woman said.

"Can I use the bathroom?", he said in his charming voice with a smile at the corner of his mouth.

Mrs. Binney crossed her hands and stared at the young man sitting in the middle of the class.

"As if I have a choice, come back soon and no distracting the girls in the hallway!", she said as she watched Nolan raise his hand straight up to his headgear.

"Yes Ma'am", he said as he winked at another girl before walking out.

"Concéntrate… concéntrate", the teacher said bringing back the attention of the girls in the class.

Nolan walked toward the male bathroom, he hummed Scott street by Phoebe Bridgers as he got in and shut the door behind him.

As soon as he stepped in, he heard footsteps coming and unbothered, he minded his business until he noticed the water had kept running, after some moment he finished and opened the door and to his surprise he saw what he was not expecting.

A girl in the boys bathroom.

Nolan stared at her, confused if he had entered the wrong bathroom but he was so sure he had seen the sign before coming in.

She was a bit shorter than he was.

He folded his arms and watched as she furiously washed her hair, he remained silent and watched carefully, from the used toilet paper on the counter to the water on the run and her loud groans.

Finally, her surprised eyes met his judgy eyes through the mirror.

She turned and saw him.

He blinked repeatedly on seeing her face, her wet beautiful shade of brunette cascading perfectly on her shoulders, her big round worried eyes staring back at him like she was some lost cute puppy finding its way back home.

Her dark lashes flutter gracefully enhancing her gaze.

Judging from her simple outfit, he could tell she was not the type of girl who sought attention from every guy, even though her beautiful face could get her any guy she wanted. Seriously.

For the first time, Nolan was dumbfounded. He was so awestruck he couldn't even utter a word. Her sparkling blue eyes had him hypnotized.

There was an awkward silence for a while before he came out of his daze and broke it off.

"Why are you in the male bathroom?", he asked and watched her eyes widen up.

"Male what????!!!!", Nancy said almost yelling.

She looked around and turned back at Nolan.

"I should be asking you what you are doing in the female bathroom, pervert", she responded angrily.

Her nostrils flared outwards.

Nolan sighed and looked toward the entrance.

Nancy already felt embarrassed and hoped she was right and he was wrong, Trotted out again to check the signs, and immediately she looked up to see the signs which read "Male".

Two boys approached her, staring at her confused as they entered the male bathroom.

Nancy gasped as vertical wrinkles appeared between her eyebrows.

"WHAT THE HELL!", she muttered as she ran off in shame without looking back.

Nolan stepped out, his hand still crossed.

He watched her walk away hurriedly from behind.

"She… she's gorgeous ", he stuttered as he spoke to himself.
