Chapter 7 - Troubled mind

Still holding hands with her, Nolan got outside and walked directly to his car. A grey BMW his dad had gifted him months ago for his 17th birthday.

He leaned against his car and pulled the girl towards him.

She held his face and leaned forward for a kiss and this time he kissed her back, it was not new to Nolan, he had always been known to have a lot of girls around him but he never found one he liked enough to date.

He broke away from the kiss and smiled at her, she was pretty but Nolan had seen girls prettier and sexier. A pretty face did nothing for him.

This is why seeing Nancy felt strange to him. She was a different kind of pretty, and he never knew he could meet someone who felt different from every girl he had seen all his life, he didn't know what had changed.

"So do you like me?, do you think I am pretty?", the girls asked while staring into his eyes.

He let out a soft smile and held her hands.

"You are pretty, Cassie… very pretty", he answered.

The smile on her face dropped immediately, she instantly put on a smile to mask the emotion she was feeling.

Nolan noticed but he didn't care enough to ask what it was about. The only thing on his mind at that moment was seeing Nancy leaning against that table, she looked even prettier than she looked when he had seen her earlier.

He is not the type to think about a girl more than once but Nancy was interesting and he was curious about her. His brain was fighting with his heart as he could not understand why he couldn't stop thinking about her.

"So why don't you date me then? you don't have a girlfriend, do you?", the girl asked.

"I don't date…", he immediately answered.

The inner corners of her eyebrows angled up as she released her hand from his grip, she took a step back and let out a smirk.

"So why have you been kissing me then?", she nagged.

Nolan was not surprised at her reaction, most girls he had turned down acted the same, it was not his fault, he just didn't feel anything for them and even though some girls don't care, some does, and among the ones that care is Cassie standing in front of him, ready to insult him.

"I mean, you also kissed me, you did it first I remember, and apart from that… we just met this night Cassie",

"STOP CALLING ME CASSIE! That is not even my name you son of a fr***k", she yelled out, enough for everyone outside attention to be drawn to them. And almost immediately they all minded their business.

Nolan remembered the other girl he had met that night was Cassie, and this one was Lucy or is it Riley? he could not figure it out.

He felt like he was going crazy, from thinking about Nancy which he didn't understand why to being yelled at by another girl, he wanted to be alone at that moment.

"Whatever!", she added before stomping off.

Nolan let out a sigh of relief, he was finally alone and could figure out why this strange girl kept popping up in his mind.

What could it be? Does he have a thing for brunettes he never knew before then? But he has met a lot of brunettes, why is this one different, who is she and why is she still on his mind?

He had tried making out with girls to keep his mind off her but it was not working.

Nolan frustratedly ran his hand through his hair and ruffled it.

Tara laughed as she listened to Nancy on what had happened to her earlier in school and other days in Westwood.

"Westwood is such a pain in my a**, the girls I told you I just broke off with? Are the only friends I got but now it's all going to be me… and it is better than having those snakes", Tara said as she grabbed another bottle of vodka.

She noticed Nancy's worried expression.

"Don't worry, I can control my alcohol, in fact, I can drive home without killing myself", Tara assured.

Nancy chuckled.

"Nancy!!! My girl" Jada said as she appeared out of nowhere, with a goofy smile on her face, she put her arms across Nancy's neck.

"Thought you would be in one corner making out with some smoking hot dude but guess not", Jada added, and immediately noticed Tara.

Nancy shook her head and smiled.

"Jada meets Tara… Tara, this is Jada".

Jada took her hand off Nancy and let out a soft smile.

"Nice to meet you, Tara".

"You to Jada, how long have you two been friends? Nancy spoke great about you before you arrived", Tara asked.

Jada looked at Nancy as they both chuckled.

"How long? Girl we just met, literally today and we are already sisters", Jada answered with a big smile on her face.

Tara looked at Nancy waiting for confirmation of what Jada had said.

"Yes she is right Tara, I met her today as well", Nancy confirmed.

Tara was impressed, she smiled and put down the cup, Nancy had spoken well of someone she met today, and judging from how they acted, anyone would have thought they had been friends for a very long time.

This was what Tara has always wanted but never had, a genuine friendship like this.

Nancy immediately felt the urge to use the bathroom, she turned to her new friends and asked to be excused.

"Do not get lost pretty girl, if you do… call me and I will come to your rescue, and yeah you should find a hot guy on your way to the bathroom and pull him with you", Jada jokingly said.

"You would see the bathroom upstairs, the fifth door to your left I think", Tara directed.

"So who are you here with? Boyfriend?", Jada had asked Tara as soon as Nancy had walked upstairs.

Tara snorted.

"I am with my brother… we came together even though we drove here separately but he is still the only one I know at this party apart from those twins and we barely talk, and yes you and Nancy that I now just met", She answered Jada.

"I imagine your brother looking super fine, judging from how pretty you are… I feel so blessed, having two pretty friends, you and Nancy, today is just a great day isn't it", Jada said as she poured herself a drink.

Tara smiled and responded, "he is… so fine, I think even more than myself but I have never admitted that to him", she laughed along with Jada.

"He is somewhere around here, probably with a girl"

"I can't blame him, I just came back from chasing a girl also", Jada said.

The two girls looked at each other and laughed.
