That was actually a great offer, but Keegan couldn't protect me from Conrad. So there's no way I'd agree. "That could be a long time. And I already said I can't be here any longer."
"Help her." Keegan still insisted I take this offer.
"Keegan, I've protected Kara in the underground cell. Do you know what Rebecca was planning to do with that girl?" My anger started to boil if I remember them again. "They tried to brand her, you know. Using the iron cast like we're some cattle in barn."
Keegan's demeanor changed. His eyes were darker as he clenched his jaw.
"So Keegan, If you have to pay me for protecting you girl, pay me right away. Give me the rings. At least you could do that to me. Or If not, I would tell Kara that she's the reason for you to trap me here. Think how bad it could be." It's cheap but I didn't care.
