I thought that we would have to walk for a while since there was nothing around aside from the monsters and the castle that was as big as a city… when I looked over my shoulder for a moment, I saw some weird creatures crawling around the walls of the castle and some winged and horned creatures riding some horned and hairy beasts. If I were five years younger in my emo phase, I wouldn't have minded being reborn in such a side, but I felt a bit overwhelmed at the moment. The dark side sounds cool until you realize that they backstab each other while laughing maniacally.
In any case, after we reached a large boulder that had a pretty clean top, everyone jumped on it with ease, even though it was five meters tall. I tried to do the same, and I managed somehow. When I landed, a red magic circle began to glow on it, and then the cloaked old man teleported us to somewhere else.
The scenario changed in the blink of an eye, but we still appeared in the middle of some pointy and rock mountains. Everyone turned around, and then I saw what seemed to be the entrance of a mausoleum.
"Let's go. You all will lead the troops down there while I will help him here for today. You will have to buy us some time."
The guards grunted under their helmets, but they didn't say anything since the old man was one of the generals of the vampire Queen. When she wasn't around, the general's orders were absolute.
The group went to the mausoleum, and I couldn't help but assume that it was a dungeon since the walls were made of stone and some torches were on it. Before long, I was able to hear the sound of many voices and people shouting and laughing. I was expecting to find some monsters, but I only saw a town on the first floor of the place.
I thought that being a skeleton was rare. Still, I found a bunch of them… skeleton knights armed with armor, swords, and shields, skeleton wizards armed with wands and staffs… skeleton archers with longbows and elemental arrows on their quivers…
Alongside them, I also found a whole lot of many species there. Most of them looked like monsters, but a lot of them also had humanoid parts like lizardmen, orcs, and minotaurs. Some of those guys were punching each other for no reason, and their faces were completely bruised while others were eating or drinking even though their stomachs looked like it was about to explode. I could only think that they also had the power of the sins, and that was why they were killing themselves and having fun while they were doing it.
The guards left us alone, and the old man guided me to a place that had many shops and then sighed. He looked more relaxed now. He probably had to keep an act when the others weren't around.
"Why did you do that… not only did you betray us all, but you also gave away all of your equipment to the enemies?"
"I don't know, I can't remember."
Can we please use some common sense here? I couldn't understand why he was asking that when he knew that I was supposed to have lost my memories… that was a convenient excuse, though. Anyway, maybe the other guy decided to give up on the dark side for some reason. If he had been dealing with the vampire Queen for long, any reason would be perfectly acceptable.
"Since you can do pretty much anything, let's do the same thing as before and keep all of your paths open. Maybe you will be different this time, but it won't hurt if you start being balanced once more."
"Is that so… do we know each other for long?"
"You can say that I was the one who trained you, after all. You were also the one who put me in this mess since I didn't want to join this endless war."
"That so…"
The old man began to talk with some shopkeepers and then grabbed some weapons from them… it seemed that despite being old, he didn't follow the vampire Queen for long. I couldn't tell how old that woman was, though, so that didn't say much. I wanted to ask more, but I decided to keep quiet and then slowly learn more. I didn't know yet if there were humans in that world. Still, I could guess that it would be troublesome if I did anything and made everyone realize that I was in a human soul inside a monster's body.
Regardless, the old man gave me a short sword, a bow with a quiver filled with arrows, and a wand as well… It looked like he thought that I could use all of them, but I wasn't sure.
"Although you lost your memories, it looks like your Essence is the same. Even though you demanded me for several months to train you, you never asked my name."
"Would anyone normally ask an unknown person to train them? I should have known your name."
"No one did, but you asked me anyway after saying that you had a feeling that I was strong."
"You don't look strong, though. I kid you not."
"Hahaha, you are still very insolent. You forgot who I am, so this makes sense. I am a lich. The older I get, the stronger I become. While it isn't my specialty, I can still kick the ass in physical combat with most of the people here."
"I guess it makes sense. You look particularly very dead."
"Anyway, my name is Roskarl; you'd better not forget things this time and learn things faster than before. I don't make disciples since they take too much of my time, and they tend to be very incompetent. There is no point in teaching those who are less skilled than me."
