Chapter 5 - Power UP

The goblin soon charged at me, but I charged as well since I didn't want to lose another trade by waiting for the attack… when we got in range, we swung their weapons, and then we stopped our charge as our bodies began to tremble with effort. In the end, the goblin got weaker first, and then his stance weakened… after I kicked him in the balls.

"Hah! Fighting fair is for retards!"

In the next moment, I pushed the club of the enemy away and then swung down the sword vertically, and then slashed the chest of the creature, and then it began to bleed to death.

{The Sin of Wrath received fifty experience points.}

{The Sin of Wrath has leveled up. Power has increased by two points.}

I felt my body getting hot for a moment, and then the sensation of power took over it. It was like a fire had ignited inside me… and I wanted more of that, but soon it got weaker. However, I was able to feel the results of it, the sword seemed even more lighter than before and when I swung it down, the weapon cut the air swiflty.

"Good, your power is the same as ever. Still, don't get carried away since its true potential is very far away."

"What is this power's true potential?"

"The explanation is too broad, but the simple stuff is the fact that you will be able to use all the sins-related abilities in time, and your body will adapt to it. When you died before, you were a death knight, and it seemed that you still hadn't reached your pinnacle."

That was good to know… there was a level that I was looking forward to reaching. As a death knight, I should be able to eat and drink and do other things like… taking a dump or watering the flowers. Things you miss when you don't flesh… the other stuff I could worry about later.

"Anyway, how does this place work? Why do the goblins keep appearing from the ground?"

"It is an ancient magic that one of our rulers developed. The details were lost with the passage of time."

"How convenient? We can skip some info dump then."

Although Roskarl didn't know that, at least he told me that this dungeon had ten floors and a boss on the fifth and tenth floors. It was supposed to be a place where the people of their kingdom were supposed to get stronger, but no one cared about that… they only cared about the power that they were born with. Apparently, powerful monsters who mated with powerful monsters would have strong offspring. So, people didn't try hard at anything unless they were lucky in the genetic roulette.

As a skeleton, I was supposed to be at the bottom of the barrel; skeletons were one of the weakest species of monsters; even though they could evolve, that rarely happened. Still, the seven deadly sins system made things different for me.

In any case, the fights got easier after the level-up. Even though I couldn't break their clubs in the first strike, I was able to push them backward and then follow up with a quick attack to tear their throat. So, I reached the next level of the wrath path in no time.

{The Sin of Wrath received fifty experience points.}

{The Sin of Wrath has leveled up. Power has increased by two points.}

"I can only receive the essence of a single sin from the same type of enemy?"

"If they are this weak, it is only natural. Most monsters are born with the capacity to use a single sin, but with training, they can use more of them. Aside from our queen, you are the only one who could use all the seven."

No wonder the other generals were envious about me… that seemed like a huge deal. Considering the system, each sin would empower those who could use it in a bunch of ways, so the more sins, the higher their potential, and I was supposed to be standing at the top when it comes to potential. However, I had a feeling that things weren't so simple.

In any case, when the next goblin showed up, I charged once more and then split his club and his head in a single slash. Things were getting too easy… in any case, while they emerged from the ground like they were intangible, their bodies remained there after I killed them.

"It seems that you will be able to reach the fifth floor today. The question is if you will be able to defeat the boss in time. I am not going to help you, after all."

"So, you are on the side that wants me to spend the night in a dungeon?"

"While it is unreasonable, your betrayal also caused me a lot of trouble. I felt like all those years looking after you were a waste of time. So, yes. I do think that you deserve to be punished by our queen for a while. Even if you don't remember that."

"Maybe we are walking the same path as before…"

"Not with Her Majesty's bidding spell active."

The more I heard about that, the more pissed I became… I was quite the chill guy before, but it seemed that I was another person now… or perhaps it was thanks to the sin of Wrath leveling up. That was fine with me, using the sins, my body, and my current situation to excuse all my behavior. Why explain behavior when I can excuse my behavior?

In any case, the first floor of the dungeon was pretty short; I only killed a couple of goblins and then turned a few times, and then eventually, we reached the entrance to the next floor.

"The next group of enemies are goblins and spearmen. Are you ready for them?"

"Why did you have to spoil it?"
