Chapter 21 - 20. The Melt Down (Part 1)

The Melt Down...

"Can you calm down first, Tess?" Sia snapped at Teresa. But Sia was hardly to blame in this situation where she had to keep moving her neck right to left for the past hour, that too at a constant speed of a mile per hour.

"All this pacing is giving me a head ache and not mention my neck is about to fall off with my head still attached."

While complaining Sia tilted her head to crack her neck muscles and gasped dramatically as one of them made a popping sound. "See?!" pointing at her finger she exclaimed.

"Calm down? How do I do that?" Teresa stopped somewhere in the middle of her straight path of pacing as she snapped even harder at Sia. Her eyes were wide and now quite red from all the hypertension coiling up her muscles, refraining her from relaxing.

Ever since she almost ran out of that tent, Teresa has been near hyperventilating due to what happened in there. It was no short of a horror movie that she was instead of watching, living herself; with a horrifying jump scare at every turn in the form of words that were told to her.

Teresa held her stomach as if she was going to vomit all over the place. "I am having a bad feeling about this, Sia! Death is coming for me." She whispered those words a little short of breath. "Death, not Ryan Gosling!"

"I told you not to go in there." Sia shrugged her shoulders looking as if she was totally unbothered by this evening's turn of events.

What she said was not anything other than the simple phrase of 'told you so' and that made Teresa deadpan in sarcasm, "What a great best friend move, huh? Play the blame game."

Teresa seemed more pissed at her right now than she was scared a second ago.

"Hey, I thought you were the one who always said that those people are a fake and I was the one who believed they could turn people into toads. Now how did this dynamic suddenly shifted 360?"

She was incredulous to this side of Teresa who so readily believed that she was going to die just because a so called gypsy seer told her, "Though I still believe she could turn Karen into a toad, or better, a goat!" Sia added, not being able to help it.

"Are you seriously joking right now?" Teresa was least bit amused by her best friend acting childish right now. "Sia I am freaking out!" came the exclamations. "Do you know the things she said to me, or the way she looked when she said those things? She looked possessed! She could not have faked that!"

Teresa seemed like she was reliving the horror as she looked at the floor beneath her with widened eyes and a slight gaping mouth.

"I know what she said, babe." Admitted Sia, calling her by the endearment she often used for her. "I was standing literally 3 feet away from you, separated by a tattered piece of an- ancient unwashed and god awful smelling clothe. I heard every single thing, loud and clear."

Sia takes a deep breath and gets up from her spot walking to her panicking best friend.

"Look, when I first heard what she was saying, I too felt like someone was pulling the ground from underneath my feet." she had her hands holding Teresa by her shoulders as if she was trying to bring her to her senses.

"But now that my mind has cleared up significantly, I believe it was the fault of those weird weed smelling incenses that she was burning in there and I think she was high on it. Now the question is, how can we get our hands on some of those, too?"

At first, Teresa believed she was going to say something that would actually mean something, like a solution or a sound reasoning to not believe what that gypsy said to her.

Maybe she was even hoping and desperate to hear something like that, which would give her a solid reason to not believe that woman.

Teresa needed that in this situation but what Teresa got was another one of Sia's silly jesting.

"Get of me!" This only caused her to feel more enraged as she all but yelled and pushed Sia's arms off her as she shoves past her chuckling friend and throws a small cushion in her direction walking past the couch.

"I know what you're doing." Teresa grumbled. "You are cracking these stupid jokes because you want to distract me! And when you distract me instead of giving me sensible theories it usually means you don't have any! and that is even scarier. Also, you're humor is absolutely broken right now by the way."

"Ugh! ok you got me. So what should we do? I am not saying that I one hundred percent believe she is telling the truth but in case if she is- which is like a 10 miniscule percent chance that she is- then I think we should go back to her."

Sia dropped the bomb she knew was going to bring about reactions from her that would be far from pleasant and was prepared to wince at Teresa's shouting because she will shout out her deepest disapproval.

"Go back to her? Are you out of your mind?" and disapprove she did.
