Chapter 24 - 23. The Morning After (Part 1)

The Morning After...

When the morning came, the girls rose up. Taking a second or two to grasp the surrounding of their changed environment.

The change for Teresa was that she wasn't sleeping in her own room, on her own bed. And for Sia was that she had another person in her bed which usually wasn't the case she was used to.

Therefore, the two dramatic girl, when roused from their deep slumber that though left them well rested for todays clamoring events they will have to go thru, their muscles sore from having to sleep in awkward positions in order to accommodate two on a space for one.

It took a second for the two to completely shed the remnants of their wonderful dreams and come back to the world of the living where right now they were being troubled by the future foretold.

Two sharp and shrill screams echoed in the halls of the Winthrope manor. However, it only managed to drag out a few chuckles from the busy body workers of the manor who's ears the screams reached.

The indifference of the workers employed at the manor did not stem from apathy towards the well-being of the Lady of the house or her second in command. Rather, it was the recurrent nature of the screams that emanated from the room shared by the girls at night that dulled their sense of urgency.

So pervasive had this phenomenon become that some among them engaged in informal wagers, speculating on whether the following morning would witness a change in the circumstances or if the girls would continue their perceived melodrama.

"What?! Where am I?" This is the first thing that came out of Teresa's mouth as she rubbed her eyes to focus on the surrounding that did not resemble the insides of her own room. Therefore, the half of her brain that was somewhere still in slumber scrambled to resort to the worst case scenario and sprung into action, leading her to scream thinking she was kidnapped over night.

The other scream came from Sia, who was fast asleep until somebody moved around urgently beside her on the bed leading her to react the same way- with a shrill scream- as her half dead brain believed there was a stranger in her bed, here to take advantage of her.

Regrettably, such occurrences were all too frequent whenever these two 'deep sleeper' individuals chose to share a sleeping space.

Feathers scattered as pillows were torn open, their soft contents cascading around the room in a haphazard flurry. The subsequent cushioned thuds against each other's heads brought an abrupt halt to the chaos, prompting a moment of contemplation before their childish antics.

"Oh," escaped from both their lips in unison as they belatedly remembered their shared sleeping arrangements, yet again, and the inevitable consequences of their morning antics.

"Let's just not mention this happened again, to the others." Sia looked guilty as they scrambled out of the bed. Furs and feathers sticking out of the already messy heads of the two.

"Agreed-" Teresa was cut off by the knock and subsequently followed opening of the door to Sia's room.

"We heard you guys were awake. So I thought to bring in the vacuum to clean up the mess."
