Chapter 15 - 15.

What about her mother?

When she had been younger, her father used to tell her that her mother was dead. She always felt bad seeing Denzel being pampered and showered with love by his mother. Not that his father didn't show her his love, no, in fact , her father made sure she lived like a princess.Sometimes he wouldn't be available at home as he occasionally travelled across the kingdom and even beyond as a renown skilled healer.

At such times she always found her solace with in her father's library or the laboratory . She would read the variety of healbooks there and try making some medicines and healing remedies in the laboratory.

Denzel would join her once in a while but he didn't seem the least interested in whatever she did. He would occasionally spill Gianna's remedies and she used to pull his hair for that. She greatly valued her work.

She would spend hours in the laboratory while her father was away. When he was at home he didn't want her there as she wasn't time-consious as time and again she would fall asleep there. Whenever she had the chance she would learn all that she could, skipping meals in between but Hera would always come to find her. And when she would get stubborn Hera would bring her food in the laboratory; going against Hilton's wishes.

But when Gianna had grown up she had found out that her mother was alive. Her father had been so saddened by her mother's betrayal that he didn't want anything to do with her. He even decided to tell their daughter that she was dead.

Having destroyed all memories with Gianna's mother, he would now forget all about her and fall in love with Alvilda- or so he had hoped.

Alvilda was nothing like Tiana. And what made it even harder to forget Tiana was their daughter Gianna. She looked exactly like her mother. Seeing her everyday and that heartwarming smile of hers made it impossible to forget Tiana.

When Gianna had told her father that she wanted to see her mother he had been furious. Isabella thought it was wise to let Gianna meet her mother but Hilton had given both his mother and daughter an outright no.

"Tiana is a heartless woman, she left us without second thought. She's a woman obsessed with wealth and status." He had said.

Gianna was only sixteen then. She knew she couldn't go against her father's decision -at least not openly. Her desire to meet her mother never faded. In fact it only grew bigger everyday. All those bad things her father said about her mother didn't deter her from wanting to meet her mother. She couldn't believe only what she heard. She wanted to find out the truth herself. Why would a mother in her right mind abandon her baby to marry a richer man than her child's father.

Focus!

Focus is what she lacked now. She needed to focus on what was at hand first.

She would find out the truth about her mother later, especially now that she was in the castle where her mother once lived as an adoptive princess.

But if her mother was really a witch, wouldn't her father know? No, she couldn't believe Queen Mazarine's words. But Queen Mazarine sounded so sure of what she was saying. She wouldn't be of any use to Queen Mazarine if she wasn't witch, would she?
