Chapter 1 - Ch. 1 Massacre

RUN!!! SAVE YOURSELF!!!

A scream echoed, carried by the strong wind that filled the ears of the girl playing in the flower garden. The girl stood up, amazed to see the night sky turning bright red. It was as if night had suddenly turned into day.

"Mother??" The child's brow furrowed in wonder when she saw her beloved mother dash towards her at high speed, then pick her up and run as fast as the wind away from the place filled with flames.

In her mother's arms, the little head looked back, over the mother's shoulder. How frightened the little girl was when she saw dozens of people chasing them with evil and malicious expressions. The girl's hands gripped her mother's neck as tightly as possible. The fear became increasingly dominant until her petite form trembled without realizing it, especially when she thought about the worst possibilities that would happen to her and her mother.

Her bluish-gold eyes widened when she saw several humans turning into wolves, while the rest jumped high in one fell swoop, intending to catch them.

"Momma—"

"Don't be afraid," her mother whispered, trying to reassure her, "I won't let anyone hurt you."

In an instant, her mother turned into a nine-tailed white fox with blue fur adorned on its snout, ear, paw, and tails. Meanwhile, the girl sits on her mother's neck—the white fox with nine tails wagging beautifully. The child spontaneously grabbed the fur around the fox's neck and tightened the grip even more when the mother was ready to face her opponent.

In order to protect her seven-year-old daughter, the fox woman used her tail to hit and keep away the attackers who wanted to kidnap her daughter. However, the woman apprehended that she alone would not be able to survive against an army of werewolves and vampires. She could only wait for the right time to lose track.

As soon as the opportunity came, the lady fox immediately used body-lightening magic and ran twice as fast towards the hiding place that only celestial fox members knew about. After making sure no one was following them, the fox woman transformed into human form and lowered her daughter, who was now covered in tears.

"Momma …." A small sob escaped the child's tiny lips. Her snow-white hair looked messy, and her beautiful, doll-like face was heartbreaking.

"Shh, don't be afraid. You will be fine, my baby," coaxed her mother, occasionally stroking the child's hair gently. "Listen to me carefully, my child. I will lure them out, but you must immediately run as far as possible from this area. Understand?"

"No, Mom!" the child refused, sobbing, "I'm scared. I want to be with you!"

"Listen to me!!" The mother gasped when she saw her daughter showing a scared expression towards her. The lady fox realized that she had shouted at her baby for the first time. "Oh, my baby. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

The sound of gusts of wind became louder, and the sickening aroma that was characteristic of werewolves became stronger. The fox queen could smell it—a sign that her enemy was getting closer.

"My child, you must survive and become stronger. Remember well, my child … the reddish-gold-eyed vampire with spatial magic is evil!"

"Reddish-gold-eyed vampire?" the girl repeated in confusion with teary eyes.

"The reddish-gold-eyed vampire with spatial magic," repeated the mother so that her baby girl would not forget.

"The reddish-gold-eyed vampire with spatial magic." The little girl repeated while remembering her mother's message carefully.

"He's evil. Remember, my child. He's evil! Don't ever forget that." the mother reminded again. The girl nodded obediently while continuing to imprint her mother's final words in her heart.

The fox queen hugged her baby girl tightly for a few seconds, soaking up the warmth and pouring out her affection one last time. Even though she felt devastated, the lady fox was forced to let go of the hug and rushed out of the hiding place in order to lure the hunters from approaching her daughter.

Unbeknownst to the fox queen, instead of running away, the little girl peeked out from a small gap between the enormous magic rocks that hid her whereabouts. The little one covered her mouth with both hands, preventing the sobs that threatened to escape from her throat, when she saw a wolf biting her mother's neck and a vampire tearing off her mother's fox tails one by one—brutally killing the fox queen.

"NO!!!"

Guinevere screamed as she jolted her body from her sleeping position until she sat on the bed. Tears rolled down her cheeks while her hands stretched upward as if she wanted to reach the sky.

That dream again. A dream that never stopped haunting Guin. Dreams that described events in the past in such detail that it made you feel like you had returned to that horrifying night.

Her heart rumbled like a roaring volcano, ready to explode lava. Nine big whitetails suddenly appeared from behind her waist, and two sharp fangs grew to adorn her teeth. Guin's light bluish-gold irises surged with anger while her snow-white hair fluttered as if a strong wind was blowing from below.

This was Guin's real appearance when her anger overflowed, and she could never control her emotions every time she recalled the events of that night. The night she saw her mother's tragic death.

It took Guin a few moments to calm down so that her hair slowly turned black again, as did her irises. Her nine fox tails had also faded from her back. Now, Guin had returned to human form, living in the southern district.

Guinevere pushed aside the blanket, exposing two legs as white as milk and as soft as silk. The knee-length nightgown also moved along with the curves of her slender and charming body. She walked out of the room to greet her friend, and as usual, she saw cooking utensils floating in the air surrounding her friend.

"Morning," greeted Guin lazily.

"Oh, you're awake?" replied her best friend, glancing briefly at Guin. "What's wrong with your face? You look like you've been crying?"

Guin didn't want to answer that question. She chose to sit on a wooden chair facing the kitchen while watching her friend make breakfast for the two of them.

"Did you have a nightmare again?" As usual, her friend's guess was always accurate.

A wry smile lifted the corners of Guin's cherry-like lips, but she still didn't want to answer.
