Chapter 6 - Ch. 6 The Attack

Will this vampire sink his fangs and suck her blood to death? Or will he tear her body apart with his teeth and cut off her head? Guinevere was no longer willing to face her death, so she closed her eyes and prayed for God to send her angels to help her.

Unexpectedly, instead of pain attacking her neck or other parts of her body, an inexorable warmth enveloped her as if she were under a blanket, without knowing that the vampire was hugging her as if to protect her from something.

An ear-splitting scream was heard, like the sound of a strangled crow asking for help. A strong sense of curiosity gave Guin the courage to open her eyes.

The corpse she had seen earlier had risen to its feet with its skin covered in ominous black scales from its face and neck to its heels. Guin couldn't find the corpse's eyeballs because the eye sockets were filled with pitch-black-like ink. Apart from that, she realized that two fangs appeared from the corpse's mouth, indicating that the corpse was a degraded vampire!

Is this guy trying to kill a degraded vampire? Guin couldn't help but feel that she had a prejudice against this vampire. She raised her head to see the vampire's face only to find a bunch of stars shining again, following the movements of the person holding her and attacking the vampire who was about to kill anyone in front of its sight.

"You have to destroy his heart to kill him." As if forgetting that death was about to take her, Guin told the vampire, who for some reason was protecting her; how to kill a degraded vampire in his frenzy state.

"I did it." Strangely, the villain-looking vampire gave a gentle tone when responding to Guin's suggestion. Because of the gentleness and security in this man's arms, Guin's fear was reduced drastically.

"Then you have to burn it."

"I don't have fire magic, and I don't think you do either." Came the vampire's straightforward answer, still in the same gentleness. If there was any remaining fear in Guin, it had disappeared.

"Then..." Guin glanced at the frenzy vampire with a look of terror. "He already turns into undead?"

Even worse. Someone had to destroy the heart of the frenzy vampire and burn it directly before the corpse could revive and become undead. If it has become undead, only by burning it to its bones to ashes can it kill the creature. The problem was that almost no wizard could scorch down to its bones. Ordinary flame would not be able to kill this immortal creature.

Guin could feel the embrace on her tightened, and suddenly, she was in a place quite far from the undead.

"Are you okay?"

Guin blinked several times at the soft, perhaps even worried tone that came from this murderous vampire's mouth. This person had been speaking gently to her all along as if he was afraid she would run away if he talked with a domineering tone. But now she could detect a worried tone as if the unknown vampire didn't want Guin to get hurt.

Guinevere was curious to find out the identity of this vampire. It was only when she looked into this vampire's eyes that she realized this vampire's eyes were hazel―they were beautiful.

'Did my eyes play a trick on me?' Guin couldn't stop herself from wondering because she felt sure that she had seen the reddish-gold eyes.

"Little one?" The call interrupted Guin's thoughts.

Guin wanted to answer the question but didn't have time because the undead quickly caught up with them and attacked them again.

With dance-like movements, the mysterious vampire protected her, controlling a cluster of stars shot over the undead. Like bullets from a rifle, the stars shot at high speed and penetrated various parts of the undead's body. Alas, the undead kept moving as if he felt no pain.

Guin could have stopped this frenzy vampire with her abilities, but that meant she had to reveal her identity.

However, the current situation was extremely critical, and if she didn't do something, not only would the two of them die, but everyone who came to the mansion―Aileen, her sister, would also become a victim.

Guin was ready to unleash her power when the unknown vampire stood straight with his back to her. This man's back was like a solid wall and gave off a feeling of unshakable protection. His broad shoulders look as wide as the wings that cover her.

The vampire raised his hand, preparing to deliver his most powerful attack against the opponent. But at the time of the undead jumping towards him, a flame appeared out of nowhere, attacking the undead. What amazed Guin was that the blaze could burn the creature to ashes in the blink of an eye.

"You're late." The same hoarse voice came from the mysterious vampire, who was still standing like a knight protecting her. Only this time, it didn't sound gentle and friendly like when the man spoke to her.

"Hey! Why are you blaming me? You know well I can't teleport like you," retorted another man who appeared from the same direction as the fire. This second man has striking bright red hair, and it is unique because Guin has never met a red-haired human or wizard.

Apart from that, Guin felt overwhelming, yet bearable heat, coming from this second man.

"Besides, why did you crush his heart before waiting for me? You know damn well it would be more troublesome if he came back from the dead?" the redhead scolded.

"He pisses me off." The vampire's indifferent answer made the wizard furious, but he couldn't do anything.

"Who is this little kid?"

One of Guin's eyebrows rose at the red-haired man's last question. She knew her body was smaller than most teenage girls, but she was not a child!

Wait, didn't the vampire also previously call her 'little one'? Ugh! If she used her true form, she was sure no one would dare to call her little again!

"Thank you for protecting me," ignoring the red-haired man, Guin spoke to the vampire who had protected her. Even though she disliked vampires, that didn't mean Guin was an ungrateful person. "I have to go back," voiced Guin as she walked away from the two men to return to the mansion. However, her steps stopped when she realized the mansion's location was far enough to be traversed on foot.

'Since when have I been here?' Guin was confused because she remembered the battle between her protector and the undead couldn't get this far.

Guin grumbled in her mind without realizing her protector had caught up with her and put an arm around her waist. Her eyes widened when her head pressed against the man's broad chest, and their closeness made her heart race.

When Guin blinked once, their position had returned to where the mysterious vampire had initially approached her. "Thank You." Although she was grateful, Guin still couldn't rule out the possibility that this person was a vampire with spatial magic―her enemy.

The reddish-gold-eyed vampire with spatial powers was the evil guy her mother intended. This man has spatial magic: controlling stars and traveling through dimensions to teleport—just as her mother told her. Only, this vampire's eyes were hazel instead of reddish-gold.

"Can I ask something?" Unable to contain her curiosity, Guin decided to ask.

"Please."

"Are you a vampire?" Guin felt her heart pounding anxiously. Deep in her heart, she hoped this man was not the vampire her mother meant.

"I—"
