Chapter 8 - Dark Entities

Lucas

"We got some reports from Blue Moon Park this morning. They found two dead wolves in their forest while they were going on a hunt. The first person who saw it said they perceived ash and it felt like there was snow falling in the forest. When they got to the body, they saw a mark on the bodies. It was a big capital letter M which seemed to be drawn with a claw on the body. There was no sign of silver, yet the silver resilience took place and they didn't heal. They have dark spots on their body and that was all that saw said."

I sat with my hand on my chin as Alexander, my Beta explained. He was an important older man when it came to appearances and had a better sense of reasoning and judgment. He came earlier calling for a park meeting and I set it up to happen here in the park house.

"Who or what might have done this?" Dray asked. Everyone looked around and then settled their gazes on me. "You said there were black spots on the bodies, eh?" I asked Alex and he nodded.

"It might be some rogue Wolf, probably gone bizarre and is killing around. That is a logical explanation. Humans can't do this and that is no sign of vampires or witches. Besides, vampires and witches are far from us and they know better than to attack any werewolf Park, given the bureau." Dray went ahead to scratch his beard when he was done talking.

"Whatever this thing is, it has killed in two different parks from the north coast. It's pretty far from us. I don't think we should be worried."

I banged the rock. "Nonsense!" I said to Aiden, the youngest in the space. "I would check it out myself. I won't wait for it to come meet me in my Park. You are all dismissed."

I left with a confused mind and sat in the library. Maybe any clue would surge out from the shadows.

"There you are, Lucky. I have been looking for you," Freya's tiny voice said in my head. "Why are you here?" I asked.

"Isn't it obvious? You brought a female Wolf home and you expect me not to have any questions? What happened to her? She looked like she was looking for her family and she also seemed odd." She paced around the library. "Did you clear her mind?"

I closed the book I was reading and placed it gently on the table. "No. She is alright. I would come for her and return her to her Park. I don't want anything happening to her, okay?"

"You can't just say that to me. You brought her home saying you found somewhere in the woods. I—" she stepped to my front. "What is wrong? What is bothering you this much? You are like a ghost. Should I bring you water?"

"I'm fine. I need to go to Blue Moon Park but it is also too dangerous to travel so far away from the park. I need your help."

She nodded and sat in front of me with so much enthusiasm. "What should

I do?"

"You would speak not of the lady Wolf I brought home. You would also go around to check all families if they are complete. I would return the lady and go down to the Blue Moon. If I don't come back, I will tell you what to do."

She nodded and stood up immediately. My sister is a good listener and being the White Crescent Freya, she always does what is best for the park. The park members listen to her when I am not around, making things easier at some point.

I grabbed some vinegar on my way to the room. The concealer I put on Aurora worked. For Freya not to have found out that she was human, then no one knows. What was I thinking? Bringing her here where it's more dangerous.

I sighed and opened the door. She stood up and ran in my direction like she was going to jump on me but she stopped midway. "What is going on? Where am I and why do you look so pale? Some weird girl has been taking me around and I have been seeing weird shit. Am I losing it? Even that book right there is crazy." She pointed to the Everest Book of Souls.

I gasped. "How did you find it?"

"How am I supposed to know? Huh? Look, I have a million questions. Are you a dark force? Am I entangled with something I don't know? Why do I feel so weird and what happened to me? Why do I have scars around my body."

I sat her down. "Slow down with the questions. I cannot answer any because I do not have the answers. But that book…" no one could find the book and I wonder how she managed to see it on the shelf.

I hid the book about 200 years back with the help of a witch and I could no longer find it. I have looked for it everywhere but it was to no avail. Yet…somehow…

"I would return you home. You shouldn't be here."

"Yeah? I thought the same damn thing. But, I need to know and confirm what the witch told me. She told me I shared a dark fate with you. I saw you in my room…or I think it was my dream…I couldn't find a logical explanation and then I went to seek help. I was told that I am mingling with dark entities but that is a lie, right?"

I sighed heavily, very slowly and long without taking my eyes off the book. I stood up and grabbed it. The stone was still on it and I could hear the screams of the souls in it. Perhaps it was because she was a human…she needed to get out of here and I would not see her again.

I have no intention to…I don't want to get to mingle with a human until I need her and I make the sacrifice for my clan.

"Look at me!"

She turned her face up and gazed at me. Pure blue eyes shining straight back at me. "You shall forget everything about me and anything you ever knew about the forest." And with that, I secretly took her to her room in the human world and laid her in her bed. I took one last look at her and left.

It was the right thing to do, yet, my heart longed for something else.
