Lucas.
It's been ages since I saw a human walk to this part of the earth. It's the gate to Crescent Hallows and Harmony Havens. I gulped down and licked my lips, she would be a pretty meal.
I played with her a little, a game of hide and seek. She looked around, searching for the moving object but one thing was missing. This meetbag has no fear in her eyes. Her face was as hard as a rock and her hands were firm.
I would know a werewolf when I see one, she…was no werewolf. After minutes of trying, I appeared from my hiding and walked down to her, shaking the earth with every step. She gasped when she saw me then ended it with a laugh. "Shit, you almost scared me," she said and rested on a tree to sustain her laugh.
I stood there, looking at myself and wondering if I had lost my body to some other wolf. "Finally, I get to meet you," the girl said and extended a hand. I looked at her hand and looked at her. She kept a strong smile. She has been waiting?
I tried again, staring at her and brushing my hair using my palm. I spoke in the Lycantongue. She understood none of it. She held her hand in a fist and withdrew it with a disappointed face. The first instinct is to kill her on sight. I have no idea if she knows what I am.
"Are you lost?" I asked. "Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you, yet."
She shrugged and sat down with a bottle in her hand. She tapped the space beside her and urged me to come sit. I played stupid and went over to sit. She looks small, too tiny. She looked up at me and offered me the bottle. "What's in it?"
"My tears," she replied. Maybe she was a mermaid, I hear they have quality tears. "Are you a…you know…water…"
She rolled her eyes and tapped the bottle on my chest. "It's water." Her face went down and blood seemed to wash down her face. She became pale and sad, she should have had this expression when she saw me. Although I was in my human form, I still didn't expect her to be so bold in the forest. Not all animals are as intelligent as I am, some would have killed her on the spot.
"He left me," she said.
"Who? Am I meant to know who that is?" She shook her head and wiped a tear from the side of her face. "Men…are cruel. I shouldn't be telling you this…I don't even know you…" she buried her face in her arms and cried. "I did nothing wrong"
"Maybe he left you because of your big nose and stupidity."
She nodded slowly. "You are right. I thought about that."
I scoffed, what a nightmare. "Is that your first?"
She nodded. I smiled. "You still have more to come, don't fidget at all, save it for the last." I taped her shoulder. "Now, are you ready to reveal yourself?" I stood up. "I won't ask you again. What are you?" I readied my claws, they ached to dig into her fine exposed collarbones. Anything that has to do with water or witches, I shall not be involved.
"I'm Aurora. I'll call you mysterious. I'll see you some other time, mom wouldn't be pleased to see me here with a stranger.'' She hugged me. Her smooth skin rubbed against mine and her heartbeat became louder. It felt like hitting a drum in my ear. A magnetic surge and shock made me back out and take a few steps back. What is she?
She smiled and hopped away. I followed her and watched her enter a nearby house. I turned around. The woods seemed awkwardly silent. "Come out," I said and Freya hopped out with her little toy.
"I found you."
I sighed. "What are you doing here? It's dangerous," I said as we walked home. I glanced over my shoulder and wondered if I would ever get to meet the human, Aurora again.
"You are distracted, brother. Do you sense any threat nearby?" Freya asked in fury. She jumped in front of me, swinging her arms around like a mortal warrior. I lifted her and hung her on my shoulder and took her home. She is too much of a burden.
"What do you have for me?" I asked Raphael, my chosen Omega. Ha has fought battles with me for centuries but I have never for once doubted his competence. "We got disturbing information in the morning when you left to hunt in the woods. Somewhere in Ebonwood Territory, some unexplainable things have been occurring. The Celestial Clan and Solstice Tribe have been encountering a bad smell from the depth of their forests."
I frowned and dropped Freya in her room, she was already asleep. "What does this thing smell like? Silver? Anything that can hurt anyone?"
"Mountain Ash, Sire."
I stopped walking. There had been no traces of mountain ash for centuries. The last time I heard of mountain ash, I almost got killed. I clenched my fists. Something is coming and I don't think it likes wolves. Inhaling the mountain ash can make wolves sick and being attacked with it…that's a straight ticket to Lady Serena.
"Go and meet Beta Aiden. Tell him to make a wolf call and gather everyone in the pack house." I sat in my sitting room, my special prison. What in the howl is going on? I have been getting reports from other packs. Some now have witches on their side and practice forbidden rituals and rites. I keep giving them the chance to change their mind. This horrendous smell of mountain ash might be a make-up story. I need to check it out for myself before it gets to me and my Pack.
I have been the Alpha of my pack for a long time and thanks to me, my pack is the strongest and most intimidating pack in the whole of Frostpeak. I took my cloak and headed to the pack house.
