"Hello, Edvin. I assume Lisa already told you why I want to meet you," The guild master then said to me.
The guild master was a middle-aged-looking male, with a goatee, and rather muscular as well.
I can tell at the very first that he is indeed a former adventurer himself. If I were to judge due to all of the muscle and gear that he had. He must be a strong one indeed as well.
As to why Lisa had told me that the guild master wanted to see me in the first place, thus causing me to wonder even further.
"May I ask what is it, Guild master?" I then said politely to him. I need not provoke people much higher than me in position anyway as they are indeed above me and it doesn't feel nice being scolded by people higher than you anyway.
"Well, seeing you've just arrived at the guild. Thus I wanted to greet you to our guild. After all, you've managed to complete your quest even in peril after all," the guild master then replied to me with a slight smirk on his face.
I feel like what the guild master said to me just now was just to please me or make me less tense. I experienced this a lot when I was still serving as a soldier.
"No Guild master, I just completed the quest thanks to the help of Irina who passes by as well," I then told the guild master all the truth of what has happened as it is. Though I'm sure that the guild master was already aware of the fact anyway.
"I know. I've already received her report, and it's quite surprising how you can survive the demon long enough till Irina arrives," the guild master then continued.
"True but sadly I am not the one who has slain the demon in the end," I then told the guild master right away.
"That would be obvious since Irina is an S-rank adventurer after all. And you Edvin right now are still a new F-rank one as well. No sane person would expect you to slay such a demon on your own. That would be kind of silly though," the guild master then answered me right away as well.
The guild master then gave me a look and continued speaking to me.
"And you do aware that most F-rank wouldn't be able to survive even one second with a demon like that right?" The guild master then proceeded to speak even further to me.
I am quite aware of that since as soldiers we also have to study as well for all the different monsters in the Aleceria Kingdom domain.
Like I am well aware that a demon is considered a monster that we soldiers couldn't defeat even a group of soldiers is going up against a single demon. Thus requiring the help of a knight division army or a high-rank adventurer at best.
I could've died indeed if not for Irina passing by as well.
"Yes guild master, I am indeed aware that F-rank and below has a huge chance of being killed but everyone knows that." I simply said that to answer the previous guild master statement.
"Despite being saved by Irina, you manage to hold out on your own and based what the reports from Irina. The demon itself has sustained injuries during the encounter," He said as he continued to look towards me intensely, "Meaning that someone managed to hurt the demon in this encounter. And that's someone who should be obvious right," He finishes all the statements he has to say right then.
"I guess that is me, right guild master," I then answered him right away.
Based on what Irina has written the report is probably something that I am correct in what I answer now. As she stated in her report I managed to hurt the demon before she had arrived to kill off that demon.
So I have every right to answer his question truthfully and there's really nothing wrong in the answer.
"Correct. But sadly according to what Irina wrote in the report. She can't really confirm if you are the one who managed to hurt the demon. Though no matter how you see it, the only there is you right Edvin." he continues to speak and agrees that what Irina stated in the report is quite right.
So the guild master knows indeed that I did manage to hurt the demon if Irina stated that in the report itself.
This means that the guild master trusts the report quite a lot. But I guess he should be trusting Irina as she is an S-rank adventurer after all indeed which makes me think why the guild master has a lot of faith in Irina.
"I won't lie that it was me that hurt the demon by a bit. But if you don't trust me as I am just an F-" Before I could even finish my sentence though the guild master cut my sentence as he knew what I was going to say next to him already.
"That's where things gonna get interesting. To me, it seems you are quite a talented individual," The guild master then said to me greedily, as if his expression could brighten up the entire guild quarter with just one word itself.
Talented? Well, this is kind of new as I am aware that no one thinks of me as talented before after all. And now someone thinks I am the gifted one. Because all of it was because of Helmy's skill, the helmet artifact, I don't think myself talented as it is not all of my doing.
It was because of Helmy. Who made me survive the demon's attack well enough. Which in return caused Irina herself to rescue me and finish the job of killing that demon for me.
So I have a helmet artifact who is indeed the truly talented one out there. Though I'm not lying when I said I hurt the demon a bit. But I just mainly helping out Helmy in damaging that demon, that is all really.
