As I was trying to adjust to the weight of the steel chest plate, I tried to move a bit and the blacksmith said, "Are you okay with the chest plate?"
"I'm fine but I feel like this is going to weigh me down a bit, I would prefer something that would give me more mobility."
"The chest plate is not that heavy, even if it does weigh you down, it will not hinder your mobility as much. Because I made the chest plate with movement in mind, the one that you're wearing is designed to be able to move without difficulty." He said that.
But I couldn't feel it at all and it feels a little bit heavier than I expected.
"Are you sure? It feels quite heavy though."
"You'll get used to it eventually," he said.
I then realized that it might be my stats in strength is low and that's why I am feeling the weight of the chestplate.
Since I never focused on strength, I thought that this chest plate might be for someone who has a high amount of strength stat in their character. I guess I should increase my strength stats a bit later. But for now, I think I should buy this armor as I could still bear the weight of this armor.
"Alright, I'll take it. Also, can you attach the armor on my leather armor?"
"Sure, it'll cost 15 coppers to attach the chest plate."
I then gave the blacksmith 20 coppers and he asked me to leave for a while to attach the chestplate to my leather armor. Of course, he's going to repair my helmet as well.
But I shouldn't leave Helmy like that as it'd be quite irresponsible of me if I did that. I mean Helmy was a helmet artifact after all and it was also my lucky charm as well.
I think I should stay here until he finishes repairing Helmy. And so, I wait for him to finish repairing Helmy and attaching the armor as well.
While waiting for them to finish their work, I browse around and see a few weapons being displayed.
Most of them were swords, spears, daggers, bows, and other weapons that were not very useful for me since they wouldn't be my primary weapons in the first place.
Although I'm open to the idea of using a spear as a secondary weapon, I still haven't found a suitable spear yet, so that's that.
And as I was browsing, I saw a shield being displayed. I thought that shields are cool and all, but they are quite useless for me since they'll hinder my movement quite a bit and my current fighting style doesn't suit a shield at all.
As I was waiting about nearly two hours and a half, the blacksmith finally called me and told me that my order was ready.
And I immediately paid the blacksmith for all of the services that he provided.
I then paid the requested amount for all of the things I ask and bought from the blacksmith and after that, he handed over Helmy and my armor to me.
"All done and I hope you like my work!" He asked as he showed me my armor and it was looking nice and awesome.
"Yeah, thank you so much for all of your help," I said with a smile on my face.
I mean all of them look great. Especially Helmy, the worn-out helmet has been fully repaired. It looks better and it doesn't make me look bad. I'm sure that Helmy would be happy as well.
"No problem, and remember, come back to me if you need your equipment fixed or cleaned," he said while smiling as well.
But when I was just about to leave the blacksmith's store, the blacksmith stopped me and said, "Almost forgot, would you mind accepting something from me? I rarely get any customer nowadays and I kinda want to give this item to someone. And I think you're a good person after all."
The blacksmith then gave me a black cloak that was a little bit bigger than the normal cloaks that were being sold in the marketplace.
But it looked well-made and durable and I could see some quality and neat details as well.
"Here, take it as a gift from me."
"Are you sure about this?" I asked him with a serious tone in my voice.
"Yes, and you can consider this cloak as a bonus from me." He replied with a grin on his face.
"Thanks, blacksmith! And I'll come back if I need any service or equipment being fixed or cleaned."
"Sure, I'll be waiting and the name is Gerard. Not blacksmith, please."
"Okay then, thanks for all of your help, Gerard. And the name is Edvin, not adventurer." I said that as well.
After talking for a bit with the blacksmith, I left the store and went straight to the healing potions store, and bought some healing potions.
After buying all of the stuff that I needed for the quest, I immediately returned to the tavern to get some rest and prepare for tomorrow. It's going to be a long journey after all as the place we are going is on the western part of the kingdom. Probably a few days of travel.
I have to be well prepared because I know that this quest will be an important quest. Since this is a request from the duke himself after all.
The duke himself has been a very loyal supporter of the royal family and also a powerful person as well.
And knowing this quest and how important it is, I should be prepared and ready to deal with any kind of situation.
With that being said, I returned to the tavern and started packing all of my equipment as well as preparing them as best as possible. I will also be sorting out my stats and seeing if there's any skill that I could unlock and hopefully be able to learn before the day is over.
