But then another one tried to stab me with a dagger while I was distracted. So I grabbed his arm before he could strike me and kicked him away. Then I quickly turned around and punched the other one who was charging towards me straight in the face.
He stumbled backward while holding his bleeding nose and glared at me angrily.
He growled and lunged at me again.
"Oh, come on!" I complained as I blocked his attacks with my arms.
Eventually, he got tired of trying to hurt me so he decided to run away instead. He sprinted towards the door and opened it. He then quickly ran outside and disappeared.
Seeing this, I sighed in relief.
I glanced at Irina who was busy fighting off several more thieves and noticed that she had already knocked out five of them while there were still two remaining.
Seeing this, I decided to help her finish the remaining thieves.
"Irina!" I called out to her as I ran towards her.
She looked over at me and smiled.
"Let's do this together," she chirped.
I nodded in agreement and stood next to her. We then both attacked the two thieves at the same time and managed to take them down easily.
After we defeated all the thieves, we started to interrogate one of the thieves who was still conscious. We asked him where Samson was, their boss as he was the one who had stolen our stuff.
But of course, this guy won't answer us as he refuses to tell us anything and just glares at us angrily instead.
"Where's the boss? Tell us now!" I shouted angrily at him.
But he remained silent.
I was getting annoyed by his stubbornness so I grabbed him by the collar and lifted him off the ground. Then I slammed him into the wall.
He groaned in pain but still refused to answer me.
Frustrated, I slammed him into the wall again and again until he finally passed out from the pain.
After we failed to interrogate one of the thieves, we decided to look around the small house for any clues as there might be something that could be used to find this Samson person.
Irina went to look around while I stayed behind to keep an eye on the unconscious thieves.
A few minutes later, Irina returned and told me that she found something interesting in the back room of the small house. So we went there together to check it out.
As soon as we entered the back room, I saw a map lying on top of a table. We walked closer to the table and examined it closely and saw a letter next to the map. Irina read the content of the letter and I glanced over her shoulder to read it too.
The content of the letter is about an order from someone, asking the leader of this organization to steal the soldier's armors here and stash in the location according to the map given. And the reward is quite huge too.
What kind of person would do this? But then again, it seems like a criminal would do this…
"This seems to be the orders from the higher-ups or someone that is extremely wealthy," Irina commented.
"It seems like this organization has a leader but unfortunately we don't know where he is at all," Irina added.
"So the thieves here are simply being hired to steal for this unknown guy. To think that we're getting involved in some kind of mess..." I mumbled in frustration.
"Well, the reward is quite high, I say we should go to the place where they stash the armor and steal them back. I mean all of that belongs to the soldiers of this town." Irina suggested.
"True..." I agreed.
"But we need to be careful because the place might be guarded," I warned her.
"No worries, I can handle a few guards. And I see that my choice of bringing you along ain't a bad decision, you certainly can handle yourself in a fight." Irina said.
I smiled awkwardly at her words because I knew she was probably referring to the fight earlier.
I mean I am quite proud of myself for being able to handle that many thieves at once. Because before I got this helmet artifact, I was quite weak, and trying to handle it all alone would be quite hard.
All thanks to Helmy!
But before we leave the small house, we need to do something with the thieves that were unconscious here.
After we had a small discussion regarding the thieves and what we were going to do with them, we decided that we'd tie them up and bring them outside and lock them there.
And after we've tied them up securely, we locked them inside the small house.
After that, we left the small house and headed straight towards the forest near the town. As that was the place that had been marked on the map earlier.
After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at the edge of the forest and saw a large clearing in front of us. There was a cabin located in the middle of the clearing and we immediately knew that it was the place where they stored the stolen armor.
And just like we anticipated, the amount of guards or thieves here is quite high. Probably around 20 people?
Plus there's no opening at all, meaning that we couldn't sneak in quietly as the security is extremely tight.
"Should we attack head-on? Or do you have an idea of how we should do this?" I asked Irina.
She thought for a while before answering, "Let's fight them head-on. They are wearing armor and wielding various weapons. But I don't think they are going to be that tough for us to handle. Plus this is a good chance for me to see more of your strength."
I was taken aback by her confidence in me.
"I-I'm not really that strong... And besides, we have the same rank after all." I mumbled nervously.
Irina laughed loudly before saying, "Don't be so modest, you are pretty strong and if you don't you probably die when you encounter that demon before."
"Anyway, let's just get this over with!" I exclaimed.
Irina then nodded her head before charging towards the group of thieves in front of us. I quickly followed behind her and prepared myself mentally for another battle.
