"But if we are to have proof that they are the ones who are in league with the bandits, we must infiltrate the mansion."
She was right about it, and we will need proof if we will expose the noble to the authorities and the kingdom itself. However, I wonder who's the one who requested this request in the first place.
Was it the king or one of the nobles from the noble's circle?
I hope the king was the one who did this, but knowing the nobles, they are quite a handful when it comes to politics and whatnot.
"Alright, Irina. We will do your plan. But I want to know who is the one who requests the quest."
"I'll tell you who requests it. It's none other than Duke Vaneis himself," she told me without hesitation and immediately.
"The Duke Vaneis himself, huh? Now that's quite something." I couldn't help but say a few words to describe how shocked I was when I heard the name.
The duke's family has always been faithful to the kingdom and their ruler. Even during the great war between the kingdoms, the duke's family has been the one who supports the king the most and their military power is something that no one can ever rival with.
But to think that the Duke Vaneis was the one who requested this quest. That means that he has been gathering evidence about this corrupt noble and the bandit gang himself.
"So mind if I know whose noble mansion we are infiltrating?"
"It's Baron Harrington's," she told me immediately after I asked her the question.
"Baron Harrington? Is it the one who lives in the western part of the kingdom?"
"Correct," she then replied right away.
The baron himself was quite a noble. He is a wealthy noble and owns a lot of land and a mining business as well. He has also been supporting the kingdom's economy greatly like it's unlikely that the baron would be connected with the bandits in the first place.
But, since the duke has some suspicions about this baron himself, we should do the same and gather the evidence needed as well.
"Alright, Irina. We'll go with the plan, and don't worry, I'll be sure to have everything ready."
"Thanks, Edvin. Oh yeah, before I forget, before we depart tomorrow, let's meet up here in the morning. And bring everything that you need."
"Yes, Irina. Don't worry, I'll bring everything I need for this quest. And the same goes for you, okay?"
"Okay, I'll bring everything I need, and don't worry, my clothes won't be an issue either," she said while her eyes were staring straight at me.
With all of the things that have been discussed, we both left to do what we need to prepare for the quest itself.
Knowing that the quest itself is going to be hard, means that I need to buy all of the necessary items that I need. Because seeing all of my equipment are a little bit broken and worn out.
I decided to get a new one and also buy a few healing potions as well, because knowing my luck, I'll surely need them in the future.
And I head towards the blacksmith first, to repair Helmy and browse some weapons that the blacksmith has as well.
As I arrived at the blacksmith, I saw a few people browsing around as well, but not many though.
I went straight to the blacksmith counter and told the blacksmith.
"Hey, can you fix this helmet? The blade has been damaged quite a bit and it needs a proper repair."
"Sure," the blacksmith said right away as he took my helmet and looked at it.
"The repairs will take about an hour or so, you can pick it up later."
I'm glad that at least it could be repaired as I was worried for a bit that it couldn't be repaired at all since it has been damaged quite a bit.
"Thank you. And can you show me a few weapons as well, my sword is getting old and worn out and it needs a new one."
"Of course," the blacksmith said, as he led me to a room full of weapons and armor.
It seems like the blacksmith is the one that also sells the weapons and armor here, as I never noticed this kind of room before.
"Here's the list of all the weapons that I have," the blacksmith then gave me a list and let me browse them on my own.
And with the money I have, the most expensive sword that I can buy is the one that costs 25 silver coins.
And there are two weapons that are within my price range. But I decided I would find better armor first as it's far more important than a weapon, especially since a weapon is easy to find and replace.
"Can you show me the armor section as well?" I then asked the blacksmith as I was not quite sure that he had an armor section in this shop.
"There is an armor section. But because people rarely wanted to buy armor from me, I keep the armor in the back."
"Oh, okay. Then, can you bring it to the front so I can see it?"
"Sure," the blacksmith immediately brings all of his armor and shows it to me right away.
All of his armor looked decent, and they all looked quite well-made and strong. Though the cheapest armor he had was 20 silver coins, which is quite pricey.
But the one that I'm interested in is a medium-quality steel chest plate. It would cost me 30 silver coins, and it was worth every copper coin that I had.
"Can I try the armor first?" I ask that question.
"Sure, the steel chest plate is well-made and durable as well," the blacksmith said as he smiled at me while giving me the chest plate that I wanted.
It was the first time I wore a steel chestplate and I didn't realize that it felt this heavy.
