Chapter 20 - TWENTY

AZRAEL MORGAN

"We need to talk, Lucie."

I finally speak up after minutes of pacing around. I was still having an internal conflict with myself on whether I should tell Luciano about my findings or not. How do I start, telling him about his true identity and I how I found out.

One part of me was telling me to just blurt it out, and the other was telling me to take it slow. I don't know anymore what to do.

I let out a loud groan. Why do things keep getting so complicated. At first, I thought we just had to deal with him coming out to his mother, who is Homophobic by the way. But now,I have to tell him about his grandparents, mother, and father. All in one go so that he understands what exactly is going on.

Luciano sits down his book and comes towards me. He gives me a hug from the back. His hands wrap around my waist, and I let myself sink into his warmth. With my head resting on his shoulder, since I'm a bit taller than him,I let out another sigh.

"What is it that has gotten my sweet angel stressed. You can share with me love. You know you don't have to fight this battle alone." He kisses my head, moving closer to my ear lobe, then my cheekbone until he starts nibling on my neck. I'm sure that I will have a gigantic hickey by the time he eases his lips off my neck.

I let moans out, enjoying the show of affection a little bit too much. He lets out a moan of his own, letting me know just how much he is liking it as well.

I shuffle slowly, turning around until I am facing Lucie. I look into his large, beautiful brown eyes. I doubt he is aware, but whenever I look into his eyes,I notice the shift them. One of his eyes glimmers slightly every time we are cuddling. Giving me one dark brown and the other hazel brown.

It just happens.

"Did you know that your eyes change color?" I found myself asking him instead of exactly what I wanted to tell him.

He pulls me harder against him, making sure there isn't any space to allow even air in between us. I rest my hands on his shoulders, letting myself enjoy the attention I don't think I will ever get enough of.

"No,I did not. How do they change?" Lucie replies.

"The eye on the left is hazel brown while the one on the right is dark brown, almost black." I inform him.

"I noticed it happens whenever we are being intimate, like right now. Other times, they are brown." I clarify on that matter.

"Okay,I had no idea my eyes were like that. I know the color of my eyes isn't the issue, what is it. Why are you pacing? Hope it's not about me,otherwise, I don't like being the reason why my angel is troubled." Lucie says while caressing my back. He knows any kind of contact from him, which gives me a bearing, especially in similar situations.

"I found out some information about your family while trying to look for your father. It's.... it's rather complicated and kind of hard to explain."

"What did you find out, baby?" Lucie picked me up and led us to the couch and laid down with me.

I turn around,my back facing him as I prepare to reveal the truth.

"First, your grandmother had a mermaid mate. They had your mother before they severed the bond between them. The human companion survived narrowly from their separation, but the mermaid unfortunately did not survive. She died because we feel the emotions and connections deeper than humans can. She could not live another day after that."

I try to summarize the story so that he gets where this is leading us to.

Luciano doesn't say a thing, not even blinking. I think he is trying to digest the piece of information I have given him. There is more,so he should collect his thoughts.

"You mean to tell me that my grandfather is not my grandfather." At least he is picking something up from this conversation. I take that as my cue to continue.

"Yes,love. Your grandmother got married to that man. For humans, it is easy to move on and love different people differently, while for us, once we are separated from our mates, death is the most inevitable but common outcome." I continue to break it down for him. He nods. Eyes wide in shock, I continue

"Then your mother met with your father. I think it was just a fling because they were together for a very short period. Just one week, and then they went separate ways. I doubt your father is even aware of your existence."

"You mean it's possible for my father to not know about me. Mother told me that he left her and went to marry another man. That is why she hates homosexuals." Lucie mumbles to himself.

Tears start forming in his beautiful brown orbs,he must be frustrated with this whole saga and that whatever his mother had told him were lies. This is a sensitive topic,I don't want to mess up their frail relationship.

I pull Lucie to my chest and embrace him,he needs to be reminded that I am here and he isn't on his own in this matter. I'm ready to fight by his side till the end. I want to have this gorgeous man for the rest of my life,be it decades or centuries.

"Your father,... he is a rare species. He is an ice dragon. He currently resides in the Himalayas, alone."

I stress the alone part. Wanting to clarify that matter. He was lied to about everything. He thinks he is a measly human, yet he is more. He is a descent of an active ice dragon and literally a hybrid. This man here has blood of both merfolk and dragons running through his veins. He is to be protected at all costs, not be lied to. He could be manipulated and taken advantage of by scientists once they discover what he is.

He is in real danger even to himself if he doesn't know the power he wields. It could kill him.

I let out an exasperated sigh,we have to deal with this before it gets out of hand.

"You know what that makes you, right?" I ask. I need to know if he understands the extent of this newly acquired information about him.

"I am a dragon?" He replies. It's more of a question than a reply.

"Yes, love, you are a dragon. But that's not all,you have our blood going through you. It means you are a hybrid." He nodded. I guess my explanation made some sense to him.

"Can I meet him?" Lucie pulls back to look at me. His eyes hold a glimmer of hope. He is slightly shaking,I don't know if it's in fear or anticipation of what my reply will be.

"Yes,yes, love, you can meet him soon. I will make arrangements for our trip to the Himalayas very soon." I promise him.

"Really!" He beams up in joy. He is ecstatic about meeting his father. I wonder where that leaves his spiteful mother.

"Yes, love." I reply with a chuckle.

His joyful smile warms my heart,I want to do everything in my will to keep that smile on his face.

The rest of the day went by in a blur. We had been able to have some adult fun later in the evening and then went out on a date.

I love it when we are able to live a mundane life like this, but lately,we've had to unveil a lot of hidden truths.
