Chapter 18 - Rank

'Lara, please explain to me about Adventurer Rank—'

'Master, I thought you already knew?' Lara asked.

Lee Han frowned slightly. What he knew from the games he played differed significantly from what he encountered here, so he no longer used games as a benchmark. Everything felt different.

The only things that were the same were the disaster in this place and the enemies they were fighting. Even his current system is different from what he found in his game panel.

'No, I didn't know. Please explain,' Lee Han said.

'I mean, you can check your status in your system to see your Adventurer level. But it's fine; let me explain to you again.'

Lee Han didn't say anything. He listened to what Lara told him.

'You are actually at the bottom of the rank. There are four basic ranks in adventurer. The bottom is Copper's rank, followed by Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Every rank has levels from one to ten. As you heard before, you are at Copper level three.'

Lee Han couldn't help but smile bitterly, hearing he was only at level three of the bottom rank. No wonder Lara always said he was so weak.

'This is why you said I'm too weak to know your identity?' he asked.

'Did I ever say that!?' Lara's awkward voice hurt Lee Han even more.

'Tsk… tsk… Lara, you are so heartless,' he mumbled while checking his system. He needs to gain power in this place to survive and find a way to return to his world.

A few days after getting this system, Lee Han didn't have time to check it because he was too focused on surviving in this new place. He also only focused on checking inventory and shopping for survival gear.

Now that he had time, Lee Han was amazed to know he could actually see her profile by clicking on her name. A new menu there informed him of his status as an adventurer.

He saw his rank and experience in the profile menu and learned about his race as a SuperHuman.

He needs to gather experience by fighting with Undead and monsters and also complete his missions to become stronger.

When Lee Han was immersed in checking his system, he heard Lara talk again.

'Well, Master... You are already good enough. In only a few days, you improved so fast. Your fighting experience with zombies at the church, eliminating the beast at the bridge, and killing many vampire ants gives you many experiences. That's why you are now in bronze level three. Well, you actually almost hit level four... ' Lara tried to cheer him up after sensing his mood slightly dropping.

Lee Han faintly sighed.

'Thank you, Lara. I know,' He said. 'By the way, compared to all the people in this place, I guess… I'm in the lowest rank, right?"

"Yes, you are. And the lowest rank before you is the man who sat in the corner. He is just like you, a new adventurer. He is Copper, level seven," Lara confirmed.

Lee Han's face turned stiff as he glanced at the man in the corner with short blonde hair. He observed the man's body, not as bulky as the others; the man also looked pale, just like him. However, that man was already far ahead of him at level seven.

'If you've completed your quest, you might level up again, Master. Make sure you are ready and take this quest seriously,' Lara warned.

'Lara, about my quest. You know the detailed instructions, right?'

'Yes!'

'I must rescue someone... But these people look much stronger than me. Why should I rescue them, then?' Lee Han expressed his concern.

'I'm not sure. But your system quest has absolute power. If the quest mission says 'rescue,' you must do as the mission says. I'm not sure who that person you must rescue is, but you will know sooner or later...' Lara explained.

Lee Han nodded.

'Thank you for telling me, Lara. I will try to focus here. I also feel motivated to level up,' he said while fixing his gaze on other Adventurers in the room.

He feels the need to be stronger, just like the people in this place. Judging from their aura, he could feel they were already in Silver or Gold Rank.

Upon seeing the two women among the others, Lee Han realized they were both an elf and another man with them was also an elf, not human.

'An elf could become an Adventurer too?' he asked.

'Of course, Master. Adventurers are a special army in this kingdom. They come from different races with the same goal — to fight against Undead and Monsters.'

'I see,' Lee Han said. He knew about their goals, but this was the first time he had met an elf who had become an adventurer.

Lara added, 'But those three elves over there are mages. They can heal and use magic, but their fighting abilities are inferior.'

Lee Han narrowed his eyes at them, amazed to hear they were mages.

After Lee Han laid eyes on them, the female elves shot him a fierce gaze. He quickly averted his gaze, fearing he had offended them.

'They could read my mind?' Lee Han asked in shock, afraid someone could read his mind. If someone could read his mind, they might know what he was thinking now and also could learn about his system.

'No. Even if they could read minds, they would not read yours. You are not a mere human, but a Superhuman...'

Lee Han felt relieved. At least, no one knew about his system.

...

Before long, Zoey and Levy joined them. Lee Han stared at her curiously.

'How about Zoey? What rank is she?' he asked Lara.

'She is not in the basic rank, as she is already in a higher position, a General position. Mmm, She is... Gold Star One. The man beside her, Levy, is Zoey's assistant, with a rank of Gold Level Five,' Lara replied.

'You said there's a Gold Star after the basic rank: Copper, Bronze, Silver, and Gold?'

'Yes.'

Lee Han was amazed to hear that. Now, he understood why Zoey and Levy's auras were so strong when they had been in the room earlier.

"Attention all, let's move to the meeting room. We have something important to announce," Levy said, leading them to another door in the corner.
