Chapter 20 - Trust Issues

After two hours, Zoey finally finished explaining their attack plan.

Lee Han only heard what he needed to about his role in this mission — protecting two female elves who are mages in this unit.

Apart from him, there will be Teddy, an Adventurer with the same rank as him. They will both guard the mages during the mission.

Lee Han didn't immediately leave the meeting room like the other Adventurers. After giving Teddy a gesture to chat, he remained seated in his place, waiting until the last person left the room.

However, when the other adventurers left, Lee Han realized that their gazes were no longer the same as before: scornful. They were now looking at him with curiosity and envy.

He ignored them while shifting his gaze away; however, he heard someone calling him shortly after.

"Lee Han, can you follow me?"

He looked in the direction of the voice and found out it was Levy. Beside him stood Zoey, who smiled faintly at him before she left the room and headed to her office.

"Oh, okay..." Lee Han stood from his seat. But before he left, he approached Teddy. "Sorry, I have to follow Levy. I will find you later, bro," Lee Han whispered.

"Sure, man!" Teddy nodded.

....

Soon, Lee Han entered a room opposite Zoey's office. The room looked bright but was not as spacious as Zoey's office, and it only had a single medium-sized desk with two chairs.

"Please sit down," Levy said after he sat in his chair. His eyes, which previously looked friendly, slowly turned cold, and his aura was so sharp that it seemed to be able to cut the air around him.

'Lara, does this man have evil intentions toward me?' Lee Han asked cautiously when he felt the coldness in Levy's gaze.

'NO. But he still has trust issues with you, Master. The same thing happens with Zoey... they don't trust you completely. Not yet.' Lara responded.

'Ah, no wonder they see me differently when they left the meeting room earlier.' Lee Han could only laugh inwardly. He knew that he was lying to them. He wasn't sent by Seraphina to this place but by his system.

Worried something might happen to him. Lee Han only wants to solve this quest and leave this place immediately.

Currently, he only has one goal — heading to his hometown. He didn't care about anything else, including Victor.

Levy was silent for a moment, watching Lee Han's reaction. Seeing his flat expression, he said, "Lee Han, I am unclear about why Princess Seraphina sent you here and how you can contribute to our team. However, you must understand the significance of tomorrow's mission..."

He continues, "Protecting the mages is crucial to our success, so I hope you are fully committed to your role. You must remember that Lyra and Elara are essential to our team. And for that reason, you must protect them as best as possible."

Lee Han was slightly surprised to hear the elf's name. He nodded, "I understand. I will try my best to protect them."

"Very well. Please wait a moment—" Levy rose from his seat and opened a door behind him. He disappears for a while before reappearing with Lee Han's bow and tactical vest, which they had taken when they captured him.

"Thanks," Lee Han said, feeling happy to finally get his weapon back.

'Master, you can't keep your weapon in your space. These people don't know about your system...' Lara suddenly reminded him.

Lee Han understood Lara's warning. He used his vest and held his Compound Bow.

"Take this," Levy handed Lee Han a black box.

Lee Han's forehead furrowed slightly when he saw the box. Still, he accepted it from Levy despite his confusion. When he opened the box, he found a black watch that looked exactly like the smartwatch he usually uses in real life.

Before he could ask, Levy spoke again, "You have to use this watch tomorrow. And make sure you don't die because it will be difficult for us to report your death to Princess Seraphina," he narrowed his eyes at Lee Han, waiting for his response.

"Thank you for the warning, Levy... Don't worry, I will not die!" Lee Han responded calmly.

"Okay. Do you have any questions?"

"Nope," Lee Han just wanted to leave the room because he felt the pressure from Levy's aura starting to make his breathing feel short.

"Okay, then. You may go rest now. You can find Teddy. He will show you where to rest and any other info you may want to know," Levy waved his hand, asking Lee Han to leave.

Lee Han nodded and excused himself. After leaving Levy's office, he finally felt relieved from the tension in the room. And now he could breathe freely and much more relaxed.

His eyes looked at the black box in his hand, 'Lara, this is a smartwatch, right? Is there something special about this watch? Why did Levy particularly ask me to wear this?'

'Yes. That watch is one of the important stuff you need for tomorrow's mission, Master. With this watch, you can activate your invisible shield. So, there won't be any bullets that can hit you directly, or no monster could hurt you...'

Lee Han was surprised. He didn't expect Levy to give him this sophisticated watch.

'Why didn't you tell me there's a powerful watch like this before!? This is a great stuff, Lara! I could have bought it at the shop earlier, right?'

'Yes, but not with your rank. Not yet, anyway. For your current rank, you can't access the special shop inventory yet,' Lara chuckled when she heard Lee Han curse.

Hearing Lara's explanation, Lee Han remembered a restricted area in his system that he couldn't access. Lara's explanation made him want to level up quickly to know the powerful stuff he could buy there.

'What rank do I need to achieve to open the inventory shop?'

'Silver rank.'

'Damn!! I still have a long way to go...' Lee Han laughs bitterly in his heart.

He continued his steps, looking for Teddy. However, when he arrived at the dining room, he saw no one. He walked in another direction. Then, he found a corridor resembling a hotel corridor with several closed doors on both sides.

'Lara, can you find Teddy's room?'

'Yes. Keep going; the room is at the end...'

Lee Han quickened his steps and finally saw a room with an open door. He saw Teddy sitting in a chair, seemingly waiting for him.
