Chapter 13 - Second Quest (2)

Lee Han can only take a deep breath as he starts the car. He doesn't have a choice now but to carry out this quest.

After an hour of driving uneventfully, Lee Han exited the main road and entered a small town. He had never visited this small town before, but the map on his system was similar to Google Maps, bringing him to this place.

Later, he could see a gas station. He stops by to fill his car before heading to the mountain. Like the main street he passed behind, this gas station looked empty, as if no one had stayed there long.

This little town looks different from the town he appeared in two days ago; the town was destroyed, but this small town is not. Still intact.

"Lara, is the city empty, too? "Lee Han asked while waiting for the tank to fill.

"Yes. The remaining humans in this town moved to the city center. It was the best choice for survival because, in this place, many wild beasts and undead roamed around."

Many? He didn't see anything even after activating his divine eyes.

"I see. It would be perfect if we encounter a few. I need a coin to buy some stuff." He chuckled and then summoned his system. He decided to buy several new weapons.

"Tsk! I'm poor again, Lara..." He chuckled.

"You will get rich soon after claiming your quest rewards."

Hearing that, Lee Han's expression turned sour. He said nothing else and immediately entered the car after filling the fuel tank and several jerry cans with spare gasoline.

Lee Han left the gas station and headed up the mountain. However, before leaving the road, he noticed something suspicious. Instantly, he stepped on the car's brakes while looking towards the old shop.

"Antique House—" He read the store name.

"Why you stop?" Lara's voice echo in the car.

"I saw something glow inside. I have to check; it might be a treasure." He knows about treasure in the game he plays. This kind of treasure appears randomly, and the adventurer can pick it up free of charge.

"Master, you are right. It was a treasure."

Lee Han steps out of his car and walks toward the antique shop. After making sure there's no threat inside. He slowly pushes the door.

...

Lee Han saw that the shop was filled with dust, but the displayed items were neatly arranged.

He could see a few antique items, such as porcelain, paintings, lamps, and others, that didn't attract his attention. He walked straight toward the silver light he saw from the cupboard in the back room.

Later, he is standing in front of a wooden cupboard almost the same height as his, 6 feet. He does not immediately open the cupboard but checks to see if there are any traps around.

After ensuring the area was clear, he opened the cupboard and was surprised to see the glowing item inside.

"Compound Bow—" He was amazed. He really wanted to have this, but he couldn't afford it. The price was too high. He needs to spend twenty Gold coins for only the bare compound bow.

And this one was the top-notch, a sophisticated Compound Bow.

Lee Han checks the details of the compound bow in his system.

[The Black Poison Compound Bow Set.]

[Ability: If hit the target, the target will become ash instantly.]

[Weak point: It doesn't work perfectly for fire-resistant creatures.]

[Bonus: Unlimited poison arrow.]

A wide smile bloomed on Lee Han's face, "This is so fucking awesome!!" He took out the bow and tried to feel the weight. "And this is so light, I feel like I hold nothing."

"Congratulations, master, you finally have an ultimate powerful weapon."

"Indeed, this is powerful and will ease me on my stealthy attack."

"Exactly!!" Lara giggles and feels happy for him.

Lee Han didn't stay there for too long. He just took a few knives he thought would be helpful. Then, he returned to his car and immediately drove along the map that appeared in his line of sight.

Before long, Lee Han finally saw the forest just a few meters away. He drove through an empty area without buildings.

The road beneath his wheels transformed from a smooth pavement to an uneven dirt path. The car jolted and bumped at high speeds, but Lee Han didn't put much care. He needed to reach the forest quickly, even if it meant enduring a rough ride through the open area.

Before long, he parked the car at the end of the road.

Lee Han immediately stored his car inside his system storage.

After he took out his weapon, Lee Han started to walk toward the forest. This time, he only carried his new Compound Bow and Karambit tactical knife, which he had found in the antique shop.

The trees and bushes in the area were noticeably thicker and much taller. The terrain was rugged. Some areas have rocky paths and substantial roots, demanding extra caution with every step.

"It's not going to be easy, Lara," Lee Han remarked.

"Yes, Master," Lara said. "I must admit, I am concerned that my abilities may not be sufficient to track and detect powerful monsters in this area. Therefore, you must focus less on my detection and be more careful and focused on your guts..."

"Hmm, I see. Thanks for the warning, Lara. I don't know whether I should be excited or scared, " Lee Han said with a smirk.

Several minutes later, Lee Han encountered no immediate danger. Neither Lara's keen senses nor his Divine Eyes skill detected any sign of monsters or undead.

However, this calm atmosphere of the forest unsettled him. It was his first time navigating such an unknown and treacherous terrain, where the whereabouts of his enemies remained concealed. It felt like walking through a minefield, uncertain of what awaited him at every step.

Lee Han continued walking and followed the path his system showed him. He ventured further into the forest, and the eerie ambiance grew more pronounced, enveloping him in an unsettling calmness.

He couldn't believe a foolish adventurer was daring to explore this area.

'Master, two hundred meters from here, I detect numerous monsters. They are roaming around without certain direction...'

Lee Han held his Karambit tightly as he walked towards that place.
