"Oh, hi." Nagan instinctively responded.
The new mouse-person's head on the ground suddenly vibrated like crazy, lifting herself up from the shackle of the, which at the same time, leaving no trace of a hole on the ground as if nothing ever happened to it.
Standing at approximately 170cm tall, was an aloof mouse girl with straight white hair that was long enough to touch the ground as she stood. Wearing a much more vibrant oriental clothing than the rest of the mouse folk, she possessed a much more dignified gaze befitting of a royalty. At the same time, the wisdom of an elder in contrast to her young appearance.
Then out of nowhere, this mouse figure offered an open hand, placing the palm on the air with such an intensity, it was hard to judge on what she was trying to convey with such a powerful gesture.
"... Can you understand what I'm saying?" Nagan said awkwardly, trying to steer this interaction somewhere aside from confusion.
After hearing the question, the mouse aggressively shook her head, and then nodded her head in sequence.
"... Which one is it then!?" Owen commented behind her breath.
"Mmm, are you saying that you understand our word of intention, but not our language?"
It took a while for the white haired mouse girl to process, in which she then finally replied with another aggressive head banging.
After the response, Nagan was put into a state of deep thinking. Owen, seeing him not doing anything after the response, began to feel very awkward. She then glanced at the white haired mouse girl with her open hand enthusiastically. At that moment, the mouse girl began to switch her target and then reached out her open palm onto Owen, which made the situation even awkward.
Owen already got some gist going on and wanted to talk about it with Nagan through the soul link channel, but it seemed like Nagan was already beyond saving as his thoughts were filled with an extreme amount of hypothesis and deduction on what to do in this situation.
At the same time, the white haired mouse girl was still reaching out her hand with great expectation.
This situation lasted for a whole five minutes.
After seeing the surrounding activity of the mouse folks for the last time, Nagan finally confronted the assumed leader of these mice, "Your kin, you communicate through each other using telepathy, isn't that right?"
As if a thunder had just struck the background, the white haired mouse girl expression showed a great shockness. She then started to nod slowly, wondering if further interaction was safe for her and her people.
Just before Nagan continued this unique conversation, he asked Owen within the soul link channel, "Can you also impart informational memories onto them?"
"It's possible, but there might be a risk if we didn't possess a full biological schematic of their kind."
"I see, then that is one solution disapproved of by risk and logic."
These mouse-folks seemed to be hardly human. They were much more similar akin to a calamity apparition, a race of sentient biological entities with a great ties to the supernatural. In layman terms, a species similar to youkai.
They were definitely not the same youkai as this world.
"I have a solution to this glaring communication gap that we have." Nagan did the same open hand gesture as the white haired mouse girl. "Can you establish a telepathic link with us?"
The white haired mouse then showed a great sign of interest in her expression, before giving an energetic thumbs up as a response.
Then out of nowhere, there was a loud, irritating, high pitched dissonance entering both Nagan's and Owen's mind. It was a cacophony of intangible and incomprehensible noises layered on top of one another. An extremely nauseating white noise, enough to put a normal person into a state of unconsciousness.
"I guess this is what they meant by 'not speaking our language', it is definitely not our language in any shape of form," Nagan said in the soul link channel with a deadpan behind the mask, as blood could be seen dripping from it.
Owen could also be seen with the same deadpan, as she let her blood flow from the edge of her mouth. "Indeed…"
Panicking, the white haired mouse girl then decides to cut away the connection. She then proceeded to aggressively bow up and down, pleading for an utter forgiveness with a flustered face.
"Hmm, this is a tricky one. But in one way or another, our words are still somewhat understood by all of you, right?"
The white haired mouse girl nodded melancholically, still feeling guilt over the telepathic incident.
"I think I can replicate this process." Nagan caressed his chin. "Firstly, I need a place where there is none of your kind frolicking around, something or somewhere that won't affect this colony if it's getting destroyed."
It might due to the word 'destroyed' being heard by the mouse, her face started to sweat indefinitely. Still with a smile plastered on her face, she gave Nagan a shaky thumbs up.
The white haired mouse then proceeded to guide Nagan and Owen to the dead end o a long tunnel. Seeing how this curious place was visited by the two guests from outside, many of the mice began to crowd the parade wanting to know what would happen.
There, Nagan and Owen were presented the dead end of the tunnel by the white haired mouse girl, as somewhere or something that could be destroyed without affecting the colony. The rest of the mouse folks could be seen waiting for something to happen with great anticipation.
