Chereads / Xianxia: Nine chances / Chapter 21 - dragged along

Chapter 21 - dragged along

The first three realms of Martial path and evolution are considered mortal stages. The next stage was considered to at least jump into another category, this is for many reasons, and lifespan is also among them.

But even so, compared to the immortal path, the lifespan obtained in the martial path is a drop in the bucket. When one compares the difference in lifespan between the realms, it is already enough to make most of them unwilling to take the martial or evolution path.

Things are even made worse by the fact, not many people lack the ability to practice in the immortal path.

Without limitations, it is already a sign, for them to take the path that gives them highest chance to live longer.

For those that have taken the martial path or even the road of evolution, perhaps changes start appearing on the third realm, and in this stages, an all round evolution gives them new understanding and they have also already gone far enough to regret.

Taking the case of Chengshan, his path has already been set and he did not have any lifespan issues, but was rather more interested in the path next.

This problem does not just face him, but everyone. As long as one finds their future path is blocked or they have no idea what to do, they will become anxious.

Other than being somewhat vexed by Luo, Chengshan had no other feelings for what she had said. But he still thought of something that could make her feel the same way, he then cast his galnce towards Li Jun trying to move towards the destination.

"I've been thinking and it is best to select those with a higher chance of survival. This will reduce the casualties if ever there are any. Considering you wanted to take that kid as a disciple, I will give you face." As he said this, he stopped talking.

But even so, his figure did start to gather information on the location of the students from his perception.

It was also the best move, as he needed to gather more individuals as rest subjects.

Luo just looked at the fellow suspiciously, she assumed he was doing something. It was understandable for her to try using some means.

Her eyes stayed on him for a while before she asked, " What is the cause of your decision to compromise?"

How could she not understand the current situation he was in, but even so, she still didn't want to get herself involved in his plan to sent the students into the ruins.

"It is useless to sent everyone in the ruins, only a small number is enough. My objective is actually simple, understandinng the actual nature of the ruins. As long as information gathered from a few individuals is sent back, I can be able to gain a lot." He said with confidence.

"Oh!" Luo had lost interest already as such she just replied in an absent tone, clearly indicating she had no interest.

"We have been monitoring the students and some of them are indeed showing good survival instincts, let's focus on them. This chance might be also useful to you, but what makes you so uninterested in participating?" He asked when he saw how distant she was to this plan of his.

"You have no idea how I regret coming to this place. You think that my concerns are from the actions you have made? Stop being ignorant Chengshan. The military and other factions are not as important as you think in the grand scheme of things. The two of us might be bait, at least you should see this much." She had a solemn face as she spoke of this.

She was also looking into the sky, as though expecting trouble to come from there.

When he heard her words, Chengshan had a change in expression but still tried to hide it.

When he thought of the few groups that are working against humans even though they are human, he was angry deep inside.

But then again, they could no longer be called human, the reason was very simple, their bodies are fused with external parts of creatures and even others practice some weird techniques almost turning them into zombie like existences.

Even through he did not want to admit, he had to nod his head at her words.

He could not help but admit that Luo was intelligent. In the end, she took the evolution path and her inteligence Index at the moment was higher than his at around 47. This was extremely scary to achieve, but even so, it wss not the highest, as the strongest human on the planet was rumored to have an inteligence Index of 83.

The level of 83 was indeed too high and already beyond the domain of mortals. But even so, this rumor was not something anyone could prove. For Luo, her current stage was almost half that, which was enough to make her proud. But only she knew that as the intelligence index increases to higher levels, even a slight improvement is a massive change.

Having half the distance was already an enormous gap, and the knowledge she had to accumulate to reach that level beyond her understanding.

High levels of inteligence allow for faster resources acquisition, and even survival in tough situations.

The most important aspect was it would make navigating the path of practice smoothly.

With the current situation the two of them where in, it would be stupid thinking of anything else. Since it was already happening, they could only brace themselves. It was clearly not just them gambling with the lives of the students, whoever gave Chengshan permission was obviously also scheming something.

This was something Chengshan himself was overlooking, perhaps due to the fact that he was the one heavily involved.

It would not be suprising he overlooked so many things, and this was also the reason Luo was feeling uneasy.

But she was tempted with the offer to take a disciple, this is the reason she did not rush to stop Chengshan with his crazy plans.

As for his words about letting Li Jun off, she brushed it off as she knew it was a lie. The kid was performing well in terms of survival, he would definitely throw him into the ruins too.

But with their abilties, it was very easy to send them into the ruins.

It was just because of Chengshan's hesitation, that they could manage to walk around the wilderness with freedom. Now that he had made up his mind, he was going to make his move.

The only time he had to weigh his options this much was in the moment. Even when faced with life and death situations, his actions where more determined.

He was not as foolish enough to overlooked the fact that this children belonged to some strong individuals, perhaps not on his level, but close.

That was put aside by him, and the next moment his figure disappeared in place, but Luo did not move in the slightest.

She preferred to guard at this entrance, so as to make sure nothing else or someone unexpected sneaks in.

In fact, there are some things she had not told Chengshan and one of them was the fact, the two of them where in trouble.

The trouble was not enough to make them retreat at the moment, after all the two of them are people that have visited the battlefield.

Having experienced the situation in such an environment, they can face some situations calmly.

After looking around, Luo sighed, "It seems that this muscle head is not entirely wrong in wanting to become stronger, but his thoughts are also limited. How can it be easy to make progress in this stage without accumulation." She was sure his worries where legitimate, but did not plan to act the same way.

Everyone was not like her, thinking long-term, her thoughts where indeed correct. It was best for martial artist to consider his foundation, as even she who has taken the path of evolution has to give such an issue attention.

"I think his actions are not bad though, as long as all those performing best in this trial are sent into the ruins, the chances of survival and gathering some useful information are very high." She thought to herself as she saw students being dragged along by Chengshan.

He was not being polite in any way at all, even Li Jun that was still trying to find his way out of the wilderness felt the sky turn dark.

"What the h.." Before he could even make any sound, he was swallowed up by the darkness.

He was still wondering what had happened to him, but the same was true for everyone that had been caught, it included Yu Tu.

The cleanup continued for close to half an hour before Chengshan's figure appeared before Luo.

"You seem unhappy?" Luo looked at Chengshan and asked.

She could already guess the reason for his look. The number of people he got was too low.
