Chapter 24 - A massive skeleton underground (II)

Within darkness, Emily's figure that was shaking did not stop moving forward.

She was scared, but this kind of fear was not because of sensing danger, but rather being in the darkness.

But it was best to keep moving forward rather than staying in place.

"What the hell happened today to make me have such a bad day? The train not only was attacked but we were also asked to go to the Central library ourselves through the Wilderness. I initially thought something was wrong with this. Now I am even doubtful, considering my situation." She could not be blamed.

She had assumed the accident was staged, but when they met that monster and no one appeared to help, she became suspicious.

The younger generation has always been treated best, even the military which is considered strict, did not throw their recruits without combat experience into the wilderness and ask them to survive on their own.

It was the same reason she did not wait for the chance someone would save her, but rather jumped into the river, without realizing it was an entrance to the ruins.

The moment she jumped in, she was excited, but her excitement soon turned sour, as she noticed this was a dead world. Despite the two suns, several moons, and massive trees, she had not met any other living creatures.

At this moment, she was sure that all the things she heard about the ruins where all just made up.

Though this kind of thinking was wrong, it was not far from the truth. The information most people give is ussually biased towards the gains and the losses are overlooked.

For her, this issue did not matter at this stage, but she had to complain about something. After all she was in a bad situation, she could only shift her attention by obtaining something to blame for her current predicament.

"If I get out, it is important to ask those people that spread false information about the secret realms, clearly what they are trying to accomplish." She thought to herself in frustration.

"Why is this place pure darkness, even though Im not someone that is scared by darkness, this place gives me a creepy feeling." She had that feeling that something was perhaps observing her, but she could not be sure.

This in itself was not making sense considering she had yet to reach that stage of having a keen intuition or better yet strong perception. Without this, though she still felt like something was watching her in the dark, such is a peculiar development regardless of how anyone looks at it.

She was not someone that had decided to go the cautious route like Li Jun, and in all honesty, her family situation made it such that it was almost impossible.

At this moment she was still filled with hope of gaining something from this risky behavior that could allow her to also transform just like the numerous examples in the outside world.

Yes! The reason she was strong willed and pushing foward despite all the development, was the hope she could gain a big opportunity that could transform her entire future.

All those strong sector lords are said to have gained some chances from the ruins.

Even better, the strongest man on the planet, who even Li Jun in his previous timeline failed to ever meet that person.

In this life, he had already realized it was a pipe dream thinking that he could meet the strongest people. Let's start with the sector lords, he had never even got in contact with them, as for the strongest, he is probably too busy to care about him.

Taking another look at things from a rational perspective, he took the path of immortality in that timeline, in itself was a hindrance.

What would a martial artist or a evolution path except have the need to meet a person on another path they looked down upon.

It was indeed the truth and those memories have changed the trajectory of his life, perhaps in the end, a lot of things might also shift because of this. But he was still able to gain something from the memories he had obtained.

Unlike Emily, he was still struggling to pass through the forests, and he started to feel hungry. It was far more serious due to the fact that he had used the energy in his body to open the path of internal instrospect.

He needed to gain more energy and at his stage, it could only be gathered through foods.

Without even thinking much, he looked towards this forest as the source of sustinance.

"I have to get anything edible, based on the way my stomach is grumbling, it will become even a problem to move soon." What he said was the truth.

Since he found himself in this ruins, three hours ago, he was already feeling hunger.

At this stage, it had become pronounced, and without a way to feed himself, he might die from starvation.

In this world, that would be very embarrassing. Even now, his stomach was grumbling and he was gradually losing the voice of reason. Things might get out of hand when his hunger increased. He thought of the plan to find any nearby fruits as such he has been walking in circles in the forest.

He could still hold on as such kept moving, hoping to get lucky.

Back in the underground pit, Emily had managed to move away from the emptiness, and could finally hear some sound. It was more like something dripping, and it happened in a set order.

This acted as some kind of encouragement, but she did not forget the feeling of being spied on, it was become more and more intense.

Within the darkness, her figure had already fused with the darkess, she only kept dragging her body around towards the source of the sound.

She finally had some direction to chase and her focus had been increased.

When she kept approaching, she could swear she heard what does sounded like a sigh in her head.

She could not tell whether it was a man or woman.

"Why does is look like I am suffering from hallucinations. It is impossible for me to have heard a voice in this place." She thought to herself but when she just covered some distance the sigh came again.

This time was even much louder than before, except, she also had that feeling it did not happen.

"Is there any chance there was really someone has been observing me all this while?" She thought fearfully.

"Senior, this junior did not mean to disturb your rest! Please forgive me!" She shouted, but to her dismay, no sound was coming out.

"Something is wrong! I can't shout in this place, even my sound does not seem to be coming out, how did I hear that sigh. More importantly, that sound of something dripping that has been guiding me all this while, where is it from?" She was sure things where bad, but nothing could be done at the end of the day.

"I have no choice, the sound is my only way out of this place. Even if I decide to stop, I can't find my way alone." She did not hesitate and continued on the path, but deep down she was indeed scared.

Emily was just a child, other than being inteliegent than most her age, she did not have memories from another life like Li Jun. She depended more on the information from her family, but not a lot things have been told to her.

She was able to only know of things about the first three realms. This kind of knowledge was given as superficial, only the internal Introspect stage was passed to her.

She was scared that she could hear voices directly in her head.

But the chance, she would forever stay in darkness with something observing her was not appealing.

It was also through her family training that she learned to stay calm in almost all situations. At the moment, she was only able to remain composed due to it.

With the passage of time, she would have collapsed had she been another person.

But it did not take long for her to feel her surroundings change. What appeared in her eyes was a massive skeleton. It extended all the way beyond her line of sight, and just seeing it made her knees weak.

"What kind of creature is this?" She looked ik the to the distance unable to hide her shock.

Back on earth, the strongest creatures where said to be almost on the same level as the sector lords, but even so, they where only a few miles in length. Such creatures rarely moved around, and that is what she had read about. From what her eyes where seeing, this massive skeleton resembled a head, and yet she could barely see the end of this head.

"Such a creature ought to he very strong! I wonder what killed it?" She thought to herself.

She could feel a huge will being released by the massive skeleton full unwillingness.
