Chapter 26 - Li Jun's dillema (I)

The moment she saw the patterns, the information about what it was already appeared in her mind.

She did not expect to be able to reach this stage so fast! But even so, things proved difficult at this stage, she discovered it was impossible to take the next stage with energy alone.

"It seems that I need to gain access to evolution techniques." She could feel the energy in the body incapable of helping her with the genetic lock, but it started to vanish.

With her current strength and capabilities it was impossible to find the place the energy was going.

She was still glad she had come in contact with biological lock, hidden deep inside the blood. The benefit of internal instrospect came into play at this moment. Without training to the internal instrospect stage, getting in contact with the genetic lock is just a pipe dream. For both martial artists and Evolution path, the internal instrospect stage is important, but to varying degrees.

When it comes to martial artists, it is possible to train without this stage, but then it comes with serious complications.

For the path of evolution though, the internal instrospect is a must. Without it, one would never be able to locate the genetic lock in their bodies.

Since she had managed to reach the very limit of internal instrospect, the moment she gained acess to the Central Library, choosing an evolution technique would be the only thing holding her back from starting her practice officially.

"What was that all about. It seems that the old man did not lie to me. To break the genetic lock requires one to start practicing evolution techniques, and this does not seem much diferent from martial arts." She started to whine to herself.

Ofcourse this was because she had become complecant, with her current achievements, it was not a problem to stand out, among the new bach of selected students.

But her happiness did not last long, unlike the others, she was well aware of some information about the individuals ranked as geniuses. Before their batch, her current achievements where considered nothring.

But then again, she was just a little girl, it could not be helped to feel like she was standing on the shoulders of everyone in this batch of selected students.

Unlike martial artists, those on the path of evolution have to break the biological/genetic lock, it is a non negotiable path.

Just like the way martial artists have to work hard and gather massive resources to be able to practice.

What Emily had accomplished would indeed make some individuals interested in taking her in, as long as she disclosed it.

Right! A long as she disclosed it. It merely means that those that have attained internal instrospect can't be identified just like that, but it is easy to test and find out if someone has really attained this state or not.

This is to be expected and used as a means the just deal with those that would try to lie just to appear as geniuses. No one expects anybody to withold their actual achievements, the reason is actually simple. Resources are scarce and competition present.

Those that wish to attain certain benefits need to showcase their abilties.

When it comes to those that chose the path of evolution, mainly from the major clans in each sector, improving reputation of self and clan, will force them to be very open about their rapid progress.

Even through this is considered dangerous from the memories that Li Jun currently posses, not everyone thinks that way.

The problem that Emily was facing is considered the most common issue in the path of evolution. The human body is complicatesd, as for the reason Emily did attempt to unlock the biological lock, was.simple.

She had from her father that the strongest man on the planet was someone that managed to reach that stage before the era of ruins exploration. Even through the martial arts he practiced at the time was the ancient ones made by humans before the era of the virus, he managed to study even some taoist texts and broke beyond this stage without any inheritance.

He even mentioned that when the old man got hold of some information from the ruins, his practice speed become too fast. It was just like fish being thrown into water.

When Emily was still lost in thought about the issue of the genetic lock, Li Jun had arrived at the entrance of a cave.

"I have travelled all this while without something to eat, I need rest." Thought Li Jun with an anguished expression.

He has always had his way with things, even at home, his family was not considered badly off. Food is abundant in this time period, but in the wilderness, they are the food.

This does not need a course at the school to understand, just one tour across the wilderness was enough to teach all those still alive this.

All those that where taken to the Universe Hall and are still alive somehow, are no longer going to be the same.

Back on Li Jun, who was Looking intently at the cave entrance, with no hesitation, stepped in.

"My luck can't always be this bad right!" He thought to himself as he entered the cave.

To his surprise though, he seemed to feel some resistance, as though he was passing through some amber.

The cave was the best bet, and thus he did not even think twice about stepping in.

Just when he walked past the cave entrance, he seemed to have passed through some water curtain. His figure appeared in a hot place with Magma, flowing and a small tree standing in the middle of the magma.

In the distance he could see water flowing from the top of the rocks and not interfering with the magma at all, but it took one side of the tree.

The two seemed to exist independent of each other while also coesxiting.

That was not the thing that caught his attention rather the fragrance spreading all around, it had even reached his nose, and made hie entire body active and excited.

He could barely stop himself from approaching the fruit, and when he observed it closely he could see black and white strips on the tree.

The fruit was orange in color but it was too bright as through it had been riped to the very limit. The thing that he did not forget was the fact the magma was flowing around the fruit.

The magma was not that massive and he had a feeling he could just overlook it and jump across to the fruit.

"If I eat this fruit, the benefits alone are to be imagined." He thought to himself as he looked at the magma.

"I have to think of something, considering my current situation, I need this fruit even more to handle my hunger situation first. Anything else should be put on hold." He thought silently as he clenched his fists.

"My best bet is to approach it from the other side where the water was flowing from, but where is this water coming from?" He was indeed curious as his massive memories failed him this time.

They did not give him any information about what the fruit was or this set up, he could just see that this was a situation where two extremes where coexisting without interfering with each other.

This was also the reason he was hesitant about his thoughts of walking though the water.

"Logically, water should not just coexist with fire and create such a balance unless it is cold enough to match the magma. In that case, going the other route would be no different from seeking death. I'm just curious as to what kind of fruit could grow in an environment with both extreme heat and cold."

He did not rush foward despite the fragrance tempting him and almost making him loose all his reason. He just kept observing things indifferently as the body was restrained in place by his will. It was not very strong, but at the moment it was okay.

It seemed that the more memories he had managed to unseal, helped him improve his will. This is also understandable, after all will is forged from experiences. As much as one would want to argue, the more memories he accessed the serious the impact it would have on him. Perhaps even in the end, it might not be him anymore.

It was a good thing, he had not managed to open the vast majority of information, or else the memories would override his current self. This was because he had just experienced over a decade worth of memories and the ones from another timeline where a lot, probably thousands of years worth.

The body mechanisms also did not allow it, for many reasons and one of them being his incapability to bear it. This was a protective umbrella for him, but he failed to realize the threat that come from the massive memories at this stage.
