Chereads / The Awakened Conqueror / Chapter 22 - Incubator

Chapter 22 - Incubator

After getting excited, Kai decided to check if he could find any dragon blood in the shop. He searched for it and to his surprise, there was a wide variety available - Flood Dragon Blood, Sky Devouring Dragon Blood, Black Dragon Blood, and more. However, all of them were of the legendary type and cost a fortune in gems. Just as he was about to lose hope, he spotted something intriguing - "True Dragon Blood" still cost a huge amount of gems, but on the side, it could also be purchased for just 1 Conqueror's Ticket. The problem was, he had no idea where to obtain this ticket.

"It only costs 1 ticket but the problem is, where can I get the Conqueror's ticket?"

Kai searched the system diligently but couldn't find any information on how to get the ticket. Nonetheless, he didn't let it dampen his spirits. "Well, nevermind," he shrugged. "Since I was able to clear the daily quest, it should be enough. I can focus on cultivating my body to make it even stronger in the meantime."

He had finally reached the 100% BodyBuilding Stage, but for some reason, he couldn't absorb the Qi like before. It was frustrating, but he didn't want to waste all the hard work he had put into his cultivation if he was really unable to cultivate the Star Dragon Conqueror Body Art. Haste makes waste so he decided to follow the instructions carefully.

Suddenly, he remembered something that distracted him from his current predicament. "Oh right! I collected three eggs earlier. Where did they go?" he wondered aloud. He searched his inventory but couldn't find the eggs anywhere. Frustrated, he scanned the screen again and noticed an incubator icon on the side of the inventory bar.

Curiosity piqued, he clicked on the icon and to his surprise, the three eggs appeared with a percentage icon below them. The golden egg had a 1% progress, while the other two eggs had 0%. Kai couldn't believe his eyes. "So the incubator was inside the inventory all along. I just didn't notice the incubator icon," he muttered to himself, feeling a little silly.

As he examined the eggs, a wave of excitement washed over Kai. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of creatures, or perhaps monsters, would hatch from these eggs. "I'm getting really excited about this. I can't wait to see what surprises await me," he said, envisioning all the thrilling possibilities that lay ahead.

Kai closed the system, and a tired yawn slipped from his lips as he opened his eyes. Ever since he started, he's been making amazing progress in his strength and abilities.

"Ugh... Even though my strength rose, I still feel so darn sleepy. What time is it, anyway?"

As Kai rubs his eyes and stretches, he can't help but feel a bit groggy despite the progress he's made. He wonders aloud about the time and glances up at the clock hanging above the sliding glass door. To his surprise, it's already 5:34 am. Panic washes over him as he realizes he still needs to go to school, and class starts at 7:30 am.

"What? It's already morning? I only have one hour to sleep. Should I just skip today?"

In that moment, the nagging voice and disapproving face of his mother flash in his mind. She always pushes him to never miss a day of school, no matter what.

Kai sighed and stood up, stretching his tired muscles. He quietly made his way back to his room, where he saw Reika still deep in sleep. A warm smile crept across his face as he admired her peaceful expression. Slowly, he lay down beside her, careful not to wake her up. Closing his eyes, he quickly dozed off, hoping to get a bit more sleep before his new lively path begins.

Kiriring Kriiiiriingg!!

Kai's face twisted in annoyance as he was rudely interrupted by the blaring sound of his alarm clock. He groggily raised his hand and slammed the stop button, desperately trying to silence the noise.

After a moment of disorientation, Kai finally managed to sit up in bed and surveyed his surroundings. His unruly hair sticking up in all directions, he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Noticing that Reika was nowhere to be seen, he didn't panic. She must have already woken up and made her way to the living room, he thought.

Letting out a long, tired yawn, Kai lazily mumbled to himself, "Ugh... still so sleepy. Well, I guess I can just catch some Z's at school."

Forcing himself to his feet, Kai grabbed the jug of water from the bedside table and took it with him as he made his way downstairs. As he entered the living room, he was greeted by the sight of Reika wearing an apron over her school uniform, her silky black hair pulled back into a neat ponytail, and her hands busy preparing the food on the table. It was like a glimpse into the future, where she would be the perfect young wife tending to her lazy husband's needs.

Noticing Kai's presence, Reika turned around with a radiant smile and called out to him, "Kai-kun! You're just in time, breakfast is ready!"

Captivated by her enchanting smile, Kai felt his heart skip a beat as he mumbled dreamily, "It's like getting a full night's sleep just to wake up to that beautiful smile."

Kai walked towards Reika, carefully balancing the jug of water in his hand. With a mischievous smile on his face, he softly placed the jug on the table and quietly snuck up behind her. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on her cheek, causing her to giggle.

As she set the plate down, Reika glanced at Kai, her eyes shining with affection. "Good morning, Kai-kun. Sorry for using your kitchen without asking."

He chuckled, shaking his head. "No need to apologize, my little wife. We're practically family now. Courtesies aren't necessary between us."

Her heart fluttered at his words, a warm, fuzzy feeling spreading throughout her body. Love radiated between them as they both took a seat at the table and began to enjoy their meal.

Concern filled Kai's eyes as he looked at Reika. "How are you feeling, Rei? Any discomfort?"

She curled an eyebrow, slightly confused. "Hmm? I'm fine. Why do you ask?"

Kai leaned forward, a playful smirk adorning his face. "Well, after going at it for almost five hours, you might be a bit worn out, or something."

A deep blush crept onto Reika's cheeks as she recalled the events of the previous night. She shifted her gaze downward, focusing on her food. "Uhm... I don't know why, but I don't feel anything, actually."

He nodded in understanding, a satisfied grin spreading across his face. "Hmm, it seems like the healing pill did its job perfectly, then."

"Pill?" Reika asked as she tilted her head.

"Hmm. How should I explain this?"

Reika, noticing Kai's hesitation in explaining the situation, asked about the pill. He scratched his head, unsure of how to proceed. He didn't want to lie to her, by just telling her it's from Rick, especially since they would be together from now on, and she would eventually realize the truth.
