"Why are you laughing at seniors?" the cute horny girl, Mae Ling, pouted, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Kai chuckled, still finding her innocent question amusing. "Because...You're funny," he replied, his smile widening.
Mae Ling, intrigued by the casual atmosphere, wanted to know more about Kai and his friend. "What's your name, Senior?" she asked with a hint of anticipation.
"I'm Yuan Kai, second year, and this is Reika, third year," Kai introduced, gesturing towards Reika and he continued, "How about you horny girl?"
She was caught off guard by how Kai addressed her, making her blush. "I'm not horny! I just got...wet," she blurted out, trying to clarify her previous statement.
Kai's mischievous grin grew wider. "Oh! You're not horny, but just wet, huh?" he teased, unable to contain his amusement.
Mae Ling, realizing her words may have sounded ambiguous, tried to clarify. "Wait, isn't that more dirty?"
Kai burst into laughter once again, his infectious joy spreading to Reika, who couldn't help but giggle beside him.
"You still look handsome even if you laugh like an idiot, while others look ugly. What an unfair world," Mae Ling complimented, her eyes twinkling with a mix of playfulness and admiration.
"Well, I don't know about that. I didn't know until I got the attention," Kai replied humbly, his smile never fading.
Mae Ling, intrigued by Kai's mysterious nature, couldn't help but wonder if he was a trope often found in stories. "Are you perhaps some dense protagonist too? Don't tell me?" she asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Kai scoffed at the idea. "Dense protagonist? The hell with that! She's my girlfriend," he retorted, proudly pointing at Reika.
Mae Ling's eyes widened in surprise. "Whoa! A dense protagonist, but a straightforward one. That's kind of rare," she remarked with a smirk.
"You really are interesting," Kai praised, genuinely intrigued by Mae Ling's boldness.
Reika nodded in agreement, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she watched the lively interaction between Kai and Mae Ling.
"It seems like people tell me that a lot. By the way, I'm Mae Ling, first year. Nice to meet you seniors," Mae Ling introduced, extending her hand to shake hands with Kai.
Kai shook her hand, expecting the usual exchange of greetings. However, Mae Ling's grip lingered for a moment, causing Kai to raise an eyebrow before she reluctantly let go. She then shook hands with Reika, her smile brightening.
"You two look absolutely stunning, like you've stepped right out of a masterpiece! You both make such a perfect pair, Senior Yuan Kai. Do I even stand a chance with someone as amazing as you?" Mae Ling asked curiously, her eyes filled with a mix of admiration and hope.
Kai was completely speechless by Mae Ling's confession. He had never experienced anything like this before, especially with an audience of people.
Mae Ling's friend was just as shocked. She quickly pulled her friend and bowed deeply to Kai and Reika. "I'm so sorry, seniors! Mae Ling is a bit of a character. I hope you two aren't offended."
She then turned to Mae Ling and scolded, "What on earth were you thinking, asking someone who already has a girlfriend if you have a chance? And to make matters worse, the girlfriend is right here! Are you out of your mind?"
Mae Ling retorted, "Well, why not? I was just curious. Don't people like us have a chance with someone like them? Someone who seems to only exist in fairy tales?"
"You!" Mae Ling's friend was lost for words.
"Alright, let's not fight, and Mae Ling, don't treat us like some kind of endangered species," Kai intervened, stepping between the two girls to diffuse the tension.
As he straightened his uniform, Kai glanced at Reika with a bemused expression. "What did you do to my face?" he asked, genuinely curious as to why he was suddenly garnering more attention than usual.
He had always assumed that the reason they got so much attention was because of Reika. However, with Mae Ling's obvious interest and the hushed whispers of the students around them, Kai realized that he was also receiving his fair share of attention.
"I didn't do much, just a little styling and trimming," she giggled excitedly. "Your hair was covering your handsome face, and I wanted everyone to see how good-looking you are. Plus, I don't want anyone saying that you don't deserve me or something."
Earlier, when Kai was about to wear his uniform, Reika appeared out of nowhere and dragged Kai in front of a mirror. She gave him a quick trim and styled his hair in a way that showcased his handsome features.
Reika was enjoying the attention they were receiving as a couple and loved it when people said they were perfect together.
"Really? I didn't even notice," Kai said, absentmindedly scratching his face.
"Now that you know how handsome you are," Reika leaned in closely and whispered, "Are you going to pursue this poor, horny girl too? She's quite cute."
Kai was taken aback by Reika's teasing, unsure of what to say. He was also taking a liking to this funny junior, but the system didn't seem to be triggering, so he could only be friends with her.
"What are you two seniors whispering about?" Mae Ling asked, curious as she saw them talking in hushed tones.
Kai quickly dismissed her question, not wanting to divulge their conversation. "Oh, it's nothing," he replied nonchalantly. "Our floors are in a different direction, so catch you later," he added, grabbing Reika's arm and leading her away from the growing crowd.
But before they could make their escape, Mae Ling's voice reached their ears again. "Wait, senior! Can I have your contact number?" she asked, hopeful and eager to stay in touch.
Kai hesitated for a moment, glancing at Reika for approval. "I told you, it's fine. You don't need to ask me," She reassured him. "Besides, I'm also taking a liking to this junior. Just promise me you won't hide anything from me, except for your dangerous secrets,"
Kai nodded, sensing her genuine concern. "Alright, I promise," he replied with sincerity in his voice.
He then gave his number, and she happily gave hers too. She bid farewell to them and jumped happily as she ran away from her friend, who is about to lecture her again.
Kai and Reika just smiled at the junior, who was full of energy.
