Inside a fancy, high-end restaurant with chandeliers dangling from the ceiling and plush velvet chairs, there sat a good-looking young man. He was eagerly gazing out of the window at his sleek, black sports car parked just outside. The car possessed an undeniable charm that caught the attention of every passerby, leaving them staring in awe.
Meanwhile, in the car parked elegantly outside, a young girl sat patiently, peering back at the young man with playful giggles. It was clear that she found his actions endearing, like a child in awe of something exciting.
Since they had their own car and enough time on their hands, they decided to seize one of the privileges of owning a vehicle - they swung by a luxurious restaurant they came across during their drive. The plan was to grab some scrumptious food to take to school for lunch later. No need to deal with the chaos of crowded train or bus stations and wait forever to hop on a packed vehicle.
Kai, contemplating the cuisine from the upscale restaurant, wonders if his own culinary skills can match up. Thoughts of starting his own restaurant business wander into his mind. If he can make the restaurant famous, he won't need to worry about taking out a large sum of money from the system, and he can hire a chef while he continues his studies. But first, he needs to sample the food and see if he can truly have his own restaurant.
Finally, after a few minutes of waiting, the food that Kai had ordered arrived. The waitress approached him with a beautifully decorated box in her hands and said, "Here's your order, sir."
Kai, wide-eyed with anticipation, carefully lifted the lid to ensure the order was correct. Satisfied, he graciously accepted the box and said, "Thank you."
After placing the money, he quickly bid farewell to the posh establishment. But, just as he reached for the door handle and opened the door, a shocking surprise greeted him. With a resounding "bang," a middle-aged man threw himself forcefully against the door, causing Kai's heart to leap in his chest. The man collapsed to the ground, clutching his face and crying out in pain.
"Ughh…"
Wishing to offer assistance, Kai took a step forward, However, before he could reach him, a commanding female voice echoed through the air, causing Kai to freeze in place.
"Stay away from that man!" she shouted urgently. "It's dangerous!"
Startled, Kai hesitated, unsure of what was happening. Could this injured man really pose a threat? Confusion filled his mind as he tried to make sense of the strange turn of events.
Kai's eyes darted towards the source of the voice, only to see a swarm of police officers in uniform rushing towards his direction. Realization dawned upon him, and he understood the gravity of the situation he found himself in.
When the man heard the voice and the steps of the police, he gritted his teeth and ran. However, after taking two steps, Kai suddenly moved. He kicked the middle-aged man's kneepit, making him kneel, and swiftly chopped the back of his neck lightly using his hand.
Thud!
The middle-aged man suddenly dropped to the ground unconscious. Kai didn't use too much force or the middle-aged man would end up in hospital. He just wanted to prevent him from escaping.
Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!
The surrounding crowd erupted in applause, amazed by Kai's quick thinking and skilled actions.
"Whistle~! Did you see that?" someone exclaimed.
"I didn't see much, just a blur and then the man was down," another person responded.
"Whoa! That's awesome, young man! Are you a Tai Chi student or do you practice Kung Fu?"
Kai modestly smiled at the praise but assured them, "I'm just a normal high school boy, nothing special,"
An elderly man, intrigued by Kai's abilities, approached him with a grin. "Haha! You're fearless, just like me when I was young. I used to be just as tough back in the day, but now I'm too old to do anything, hohoho!"
Kai nodded politely, grateful for the praise and the unexpected encounter. By that time, the police had arrived, quickly apprehending the unconscious man and securing him in handcuffs. The danger was over, thanks to Kai's fearless and swift intervention. They all thought.
But the female police officer stared at Kai with a deeply furrowed brow, her voice turning stern as she spoke. "Mr., you really shouldn't have done that. It's way too dangerous! You're lucky that guy didn't have any intention of hurting anyone."
Kai replied casually, feeling a bit nonchalant about the whole situation. "Oh, my bad. I just wanted to make sure he didn't harm any innocent civilians. That's all."
The officer shook her head as her cold face turned even colder. "Even so, you have to leave these matters to the police. What if that guy had a knife or, worse, a gun? You could have seriously endangered your own life or the lives of other civilians. You're still in school, for crying out loud. Don't go chasing after trouble or your parents will be worried sick. Don't play the hero."
Kai's face twisted into a displeased frown upon hearing the policewoman's words. Sure, some of what she said made sense, but her tone and the timing of her lecture, right in the middle of the street after he had helped them apprehend the robber, irked him. He was about to retort, but his words were cut off by a voice from the crowd.
"What are you saying, Officer? Is that how you say thank you?" someone shouted. "If it weren't for this young man, there could have been innocent people caught up in this mess. That man was even near my daughter! Thanks to this kid, she's safe!"
"Absolutely right," chimed in another bystander. "That young man is something else. We didn't even see him move, but that other guy just dropped like a sack of potatoes!"
"You guys should be thanking him instead," added another voice from the crowd.
"Yeah, these days the police can't be trusted to respond on time. If it wasn't for this young man, that robber might have taken one of us hostage!"
Hearing these remarks, the faces of the police officers grew increasingly sour. But the woman's stern expression remained, as if she hadn't finished reprimanding her own child. Before she could utter another word, however, a strikingly beautiful police officer appeared beside her, tapping her on the shoulder. Kai found himself unable to help but look at her. She was tall and slender, radiating an air of strength. Her skin had a smooth, rose-tinged ivory complexion, and though she wasn't particularly busty, maybe enough to fit Kai's hand, she had an alluring figure.
She cast a curious glance at Kai, the only one who had witnessed his lightning-fast move, and smiled slightly before bowing in his direction. "Thank you for capturing the robber, Mr."
Then, turning to face the crowd, she bowed again, her voice filled with sincere remorse. "I apologize for letting the robber escape. It was entirely our mistake."
Seeing the beautiful police officer bowing towards them with humility, the rowdy crowd suddenly fell silent. The old man stepped forward and spoke, "Don't worry, Miss Officer. The people here are upset because of the last officer assigned to our neighborhood. We hope you're different."
"Absolutely," chimed in another voice from the crowd. "That lazy officer brought nothing but trouble. We're hoping you can restore peace and catch the criminals causing havoc here."
The officer lifted her head, her eyes sparkling with determination and justice. Saluting the crowd, she declared, "I promise to serve you all to the best of my abilities and bring lawless criminals to justice."
"Thank you, Miss Officer," the old man replied, beaming. "We pray for your success and we're ready to offer our support whenever needed."
"Yes, we're here to root for you!" the crowd exclaimed in unison.
As the crowd dispersed following the capture of the robber, Kai, the angry police woman, and the beautiful officer remained. Breaking the silence, Chun Hua extended her hand and said, "Thank you again. My name is Chun Hua."
Kai firmly shook her smooth hand and replied, "Nah, I just acted on instinct. My name is Yuan Kai."
Feeling a slight roughness on Chun Hua's palm, Kai realized that she must be a hard worker. He bid farewell to Chun Hua but before he could take a step, the policewoman beside Chun Hua stopped him and said, "Please wait, we need you to come to the station and give a statement."
