Chapter 8 - Chapter 7 - Grounded and Meeting a New Friend

I heard tons of people complaining about being grounded, but I never understand since I never experience it. But, now, I get why they're complaining.

Especially when you don't have magic. It gets boring faster.

So, now, I am only dealing with one problem.

My nemesis....they multiplied!!!!

I have not only deal with one orb, but now I deal with two of them!!!

It's been 5 days and I can only control them for a minute!!!

At least more progress made. I guess my one month training in mana-kinesis is finally paid off.

I continuously moves the orb while looking around the room. I'm just glad that mom didn't prevent me to do anything other than no fire or earth magic till I learn self-restrain.

I can't blame her, I did go overboard with those and I'm still a kid in her eyes.

"I wonder what I can do with ice magic." I didn't realize that I muttered out loud. "Ice has so many uses. Cooling down fevers, lowering defenses, hypothermia, frostbites, and let's not forget weapons. Sub-Zero shows how awesome, versatile, and powerful they are."

....okay, perhaps I really need learn more about self-restrain. Can't believe I use Sub Zero as reference for ice's capabilities, especially with how Mortal Kombat obsessed with their gores.

I look at Anubis' statue. It was one of the carved statues I found while I was 2 and too curious for my own good. I still remember how I won't let go of the statue while mom ask me to let go.

....No one shall know that embarrassing moment, ever.

"Ice....." I mutter before activating magic to took control over the water from the glass of water mom put me. I immediately controls the ice's temperature by removing its energy as it slowly turns to ice.

I continue to wave my hands as ice continue to move in circular motion.

"It still freeze too slow...." I mutter before putting the ice onto my water and moves the water for me to freeze it again.

I continue to do it till the water only filled with tiny ice spheres.

"Whoa!" I immediately jumps from my bed before turning around and stare in shock. In front of me is a floating white fox, glowed in some sort of.....is it mana or just random energy? "I never seen human this young using ice magic! I meet several humans who can, but they're so old!"

"W-who are you?" My first experience of getting grounded is now involving a magical floating fox.

"Call me Andri! I'm a winter spirit!" The fox playfully floats around the air while sticking its tongue out.

"Winter spirit? Why are you even in here? I mean, it's not even winter?" This doesn't make senses. Magic may have fantasy elements, but they must've followed some sort of logic or rules.

If they don't, accessing magic will grants people godhood, which by the way, is NOT that easy, unlike certain teriible fanfic portagonists.

"Well, I senses your mana while migrating." Andri said while stick his tongue out sheepishly. " I can't help but curious." What is he? 3?

Now that I look at him, he does looks very young, especially how his mana feels. But, then again, lolibabas exists.

I swear, manga artists and their obsession with lolibabas...

"Ah!" I flinched before looking at Andri. "I was so distracted that I didn't remember where am I!"

".....you're in Ironwood Ville." Yeah, my amazement towards another spirit slowly diminished.

"Gimme a break, will ya!? I was just born 9 mooncycles ago!! And this is my first time migrating! Stop giving me that disappointed look!!!" Oh, dear, I made him cry.

"S-sorry...." I need to remember to toss aside any expectations. Andri crossed his front paws and pout.

Adorable.

"I-I will not let you tempt me with such word!" Did i said that out loud? Meh, it didn't change the fact that it's true. "Stop it, will ya!?"

Did I said it out loud or he read my mind?

"I read what you think through your soul. It's one of the spirit's perk." That make senses. They are very attuned to spiritual side of the world.

"Ummm, how are you going back to your path?" Andri's ears dropped. Shit, I forgot how stupid I am in social interaction.

"I-I don't know.....I don't know which way I go...." Great job, Matt.

"You can stay here till we figure out how." I suggested.

"Really!? I can? What can I pay you with!? Oh, how about teaching you more about ice magic!? You have potential but you haven't scratch even the surface!" Andri rapid-fired tons of suggestions with puppy dog eyes, my weakness.

"You don't need to pay me anything, but a spirit's insight might be appreciated." I wasn't plan for any of this, but like people said, don't look a gift horse in a mouth.

"Matt, it's dinner-!" I froze as mom opens the door and saw Andri. "...I'm not going to ask."

"Hello, are you this boy's mom? Nice to meet you, miss! I'm Andri, a winter spirit! I got lost but your son is kind enough to let me stay here and help me! Can I?" Mom stare at Andri before looking at me. I could only give her a sheepish grin.

"....explain."

Later

After explaining the whole things, mom surprisingly agreed. Mom admits that perhaps having a spirit as a guide made me learns more self-restrain.

Well, it's a win-win. I get to learn more about ice magic and self-restrain, and mom less worried. And turns out, it's also a win to Andri since he's stated that he migrates not only because winter is coming, he's also trying to avoid monster called Spirit Hunter.

Mom seems to know about Spirit Hunters as she turns pale when Andri mentions that. I guess it's a scary monster. But, why do I have a feeling that I don't want to know about it?

Anyways, after the dinner, I went to bed to prepare to sleep as Andri lie on my chest. I went to touch Andri and much to my surprise, I can feel his fur.

So.....fluffy...

I continue to rubs his fur till I fell asleep.
