Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 - Mana Control Training.........Progressing?

It's been a week since mom introduce me with the basic mana control training, and there's only one thing I could say.

It sucks...HARD!!!!!!!

I continuously train myself in mana-kinesis (The original name is basic mana control training, which in no way I willingly say it), trying to control the orb to float. But no matter what I did, it always breaks when it moves.

I did manage to move it 2 cm higher than before, but it's hardly can be called as progress.

"ARRGHH!!" I shouted in anger as another orb shattered. Seriously, what did I do wrong!!? Did I still use too many mana!?!

I sigh as I lied down on the ground next to a tree. I saw the nymphs floating around the tree and giggling at me. Yeah, yeah, laugh it up.

I grab another one before controlling the orb again. Yeah, this is how my life is. Help to harvest, rest, training, learning how spells works, back to sleep.

While I learn how to control my mana, I also use an opportunity to master Igniculus and Mare Serpentes. Igniculus is still as explosive as ever, and I could only create small snek head and explode.

Jolly.

I sigh as another orb breaks. I seriously need to find the source of the problem or else I'll ran out of the orb.

I saw a fallen apple nearby and I couldn't help but wondering, what if I use it on non mana conductive material.

Surely, it won't harm to try, right?

I ignore my logical thoughts and decided to try my luck. I concentrate to not use too much mana, and flows it to coat it around the apple before try to lift it up.

Splat!

I squint my face as the juice splashed to my face. This made the nymphs nearby laugh as my face get warmer.

I immediately went to the nearby river and wash my face. Note to self, not to do mana-kinesis on living beings or I'll squash them due to using too many mana.

"I'm seriously annoyed." I looks up at the sky. "Could anyone gives me advice or anything!?" I look down on the river as I watch fishes swimming around.

Using Mare Serpentes, I try to catch the fish. I did it in a form of giant water orb, and when I move it.

Splash!

Slap!! Slap!!

...

----------------------------------------------------------

"BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" I try to tone off dad's laughter as mom washes my hair wbile chuckling.

"Dear, stop laughing at Matt." I grumbles when dad refuses to listens. "And Matt, didn't I told you to refrain from using magic until you can at least move the orb?"

"Sorry. I was trying to catch a fish." I mutter in annoyance. Dad snorted and almost laugh if it wasn't for mom's glare.

"Well, you manage to get the fishes, but at what cost?" My dignity, that's what. Now, I can hear nymphs laughing while passing by.

.....how many gods have seen this embarrassing moment? I really want to bury myself 6 feet under.

Hold on, why is the nymphs frequently visits the villages more? Is it because I never pay attention or I never visits the farm?

No, wait, mom passed by the farm multiple times while carrying me. But, I never saw them till recently.

Is it because of the tomato plant I grew that I attract their attention? I seriously need to learn more about nymphs.

"So, how's your mana control, Matt?" Mom decided to ask.

"I still broke it." I grumble as mom pats my head.

"No need to be worry, it took me a month to do it. Your progress is much faster than mine." It did made me feel better, but only for a little. "And besides, your mana capacity increases."

Hold on, what?

"Every time you exhaust yourself, you recover your mana and its capacity increases." Mom stated with a smile. "Because your mana constantly grows, it's not going to be easy."

IS THAT WHY MY FIRST ATTEMPT IN EVERY DAY SHOWS NO IMPROVEMENT!?!?!?

I sunk myself into the tub filled of water while screaming in my heart like a maniac I am.

----------------------------------------------------------

I lied my face on the table while taking notes and trying moving the marble I got when I was one on the table. I get magic isn't easy, but damn, it's annoying as fuck.

But, I'm glad it's not easy. That means that once I master it, it'll be a satisfactory.

As long as no annoying shit happens to me, that is.

I look at the marble and froze. The marble float. Not just float, it's 6 cm above the ground and it's spinning. I try to move it elsewhere.

It shatters.

...

----------------------------------------------------------

Anubis?

W H E E Z E!!!!!!!!!

....yeah, he lose it.

----------------------------------------------------------

After what it feels like eternity, I finally control myself as I look at the shattered marble. How did it float again? I'm pretty sure that most of my attempts failed, so what mades it different now?

Could it be...I need to focus more on moving? Is that all the orbs shattered?

Let's test that theory.

I point my palm towards the shattered marble and this time, I'll focus more on moving it.

Move, you fucker, move!!!

I was annoyed as the glass didn't even move. This is even worse result than all of my attempts.

All I could do is groan in annoyance. What did I miss!?!

"Subconscious?" I mutter. It does make sense. Most magic users can cast spell so easily like they did it subconsciously.

But, then again, if I can't do it willingly, then the training will be pointless.

Relax, Matt. Just stop stressing about how much mana I can output to move. Just.....breathe...

.....

.....

.....

Okay, now, I'm just being silly-

Wait.....

The marble shards...

It's floating!!!

"Yes!" As I said that, the shards disintegrate.

Note to self, extreme happiness snaps me out my concentration.

I immediately grabs another orb and tries again with the same method. Apparently, it's harder as it only floats for 6 cm above my palm before it falls.

Yes! All I gotta do it keeps practicing! Then, I can move it freely!

But...maybe tomorrow.

I'm so tired...

Why is everything slowly turns black?

----------------------------------------------------------

"He did it again...." Martha sigh as she looks at Matt sleeping on the small table. She saw the broken shards and the orb before smiling.

The mother lifts her son and place him on the bed before tug him in. She smiled before kissing his forehead.

"You did great, Matt. Don't let your lack of progress discourage you." Martha said before patting his head slowly. As she leaves, she saw Matt's notebook on the table.

"I should place that back." She said as she grab the book. But, like mother like son, she lets her curiousity get better of her, prompting her to take a sneak on the notes.

She did not expect what's he written inside the book.

"He wrote this much in under a week?" Martha mutter in shock before looking at each pages. One page manage to peak her interest. "Theories behind generating water?"

Water:

- Easiest and hardest element to master.

- Versatile in offense and defense. Possible healing and support capabilities?

- Easy when there's water nearby, hard when there's no water. Possible theory: Creating something with nothing but mana is very hard. Possible reasons: Lack knowledge on molecular structure?

Theories:

- Mana is easier to use for manipulating energy (Maybe? Haven't test with other elements. Only confirmed by Water and Fire).

- Removing energy from vapour could convert it to water and possibly ice. (Need further test. Last attempt proved....too much.....)

-...

Martha could simply stare at the note before looking back at Matt sleeping on the bed. She wonder, what exactly is in Matt's thought?
