After a successful attempt of using Ignicullus, which mom thinks it's Concrematio based on the display of firepower, mom decided to continue the lesson.
"There's another thing you need to know about magic. As the spell's level get higher. people get trouble controlling the spell, which is why most mages prefer using wands or magic staff to help to control the spell while conserving their mana and faster cast speed."
So, wands or magic staff act as some sort of medium with a little enhancement.
"Mom, why mom don't use wand?" I look at her with curious look.
"I never able to learn high level spell even with a wand. And since I'm good at using low to mid level magic, wand isn't really necessary for me."
I guess that make sense. I have a feeling that most magic users who knows high level magic relied too much on their wands or staff.
Now, that I think about it, the nobles that visit the town back then has a stick on their belt. I guess that must be their wand.
"Can we use high level magic without wand?" My curiousity took over me.
"I would say no, but when you're able to cast magic without chanting the name of its spell, I can't be sure." Great, at the beginning of yoru isekai life and you manage to found a groundbreaking discovery.
"Let's not think about it, okay?" I simply nodded, choosing not to worry about anything. "Now, let's get to another lesson. For some elements, you need more than your mana to cast the spell."
Huh?
"Like for example, water magic." I saw mom pour water from the jar into the glass before she place the glasses down on the table. "Mare Serpentes." The water starts to rise as it took a shape of a long rope and wiggle around like a sea serpent from the live documentaries.
"Water magic is easy when there's water we can use to control, but if there's no water, we need to use mana to create it our own and it's hard to create water with nothing but mana." Huh, why is that?
Is it due to most elements involving converting mana into different type of energy and manipulates energy instead creating things out of nothing? But, if that's the case, we can simply remove the energy from the water vapour of the surrounding and produce our own water. Is the reason that its due to the lack of advancement in scientific knowledge?
"Why don't you try, Matt?" I nodded as I saw the water return back to the cup. I extend my hand. I visualise the water in front of me to move in my will. I saw the water gather in a shape of an orb. I try to shape it into a snake but it's harder than it looks.
"Well, I think you need to learn more about control." I nodded before slowly placing back the orb into the cup. That make senses. From my last two attempt, I overdid it. It proves that I have firepowers but lack controls.
"Can I try something, mom?" I look at her, giving me a confused look.
"What do you have in mind?" I simply extend my hand before closing my eyes. Water vapours exist around us, what if I made water out of said vapours instead of creating it out of pure mana? Cool the vapour down, use the mana to absorb the energy from the vapour.
Boom!!!
I was knocked back as powerful torrent of water shot from my hand as I crash into the ground. I groan in pain while rubbing my head as mom approach me in panic.
I KNOW MY CONTROL IS SHIT AS HELL, BUT WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?!?
"Matt, what did you do!?!" I saw mom panicking while trying to check if I'm alright. Great, I did it again. "H-how did you create water out of thin air?"
"Cloud....." When mom gave me a confused look, I start to explain. "When it rains, cloud can be seen at the sky. After the rain, sky is clear and the ground has puddles. But, where did the puddle go? And why clouds starts to appear and getting bigger before it rains again? I can't help but think, what if the water from the puddle turns to air? Does that mean water is around us? Is cloud made out of water turn air? I try to imagine it and....." I stop myself as mom gave me a shocked expression.
".....promise me, Matt. If you're going to try magic, never do it alone!" I rapidly nodded as Mom sigh. "You're amazing, Matt. But, your discovery continues to shock me."
"Sorry...."
"Don't be. Let's continue next time, okay? You waste quite a lot of mana." As she said that, I start to yawn. Another reason why I need to learn mana control. "Well, we can add mana control as next lesson."
I simply nod in agreement, didn't expect her to share the same thought as I. She lifts me up and carry me into the house. This is embarrassing, but due to my mana depleted, I'm unable to move at all.
Thank god that I'm a child right now, cuz I'll dig a hole to bury myself and let myself rot.

I'm so taking a picture of this! He he he!

"Okay, these should be enough for the notes." Finishing taking notes, I place my handmade charcoal pencil (which is nothing but a wooden stick with small charcoal tied at the end), looking back at the notes.
Power System in This Universe
1. Mana - Main Source of All Magic:
- Able to access basic elements, but unusual elements only available to special person.
- Basic Elements: Fire, Water, Earth(?), Light (?),
- Unusual Elements: Nature, ???
- Visualization required to convert mana to magic spells.
- Incantation helps visualization, focusing what spells you want to use.
- It's possible that it is not required?
- All spells are chant in Latin
- Medium helps control the mana output and casting speed. Mostly used for high level magic.
- Sources are required for some elements for easier spell cast.
- Water is easy due to the access of water source. It becomes hard when there's no water avaliable.
- Discoveries: Vapour can be used.
- Possible theories: Creating water out of nothing cost too much mana. People didn't discover this trick due to lack of advancement in scientific knowledge.
2. Aura - Information to be added.
I closed the book before sighing. I never thought I could get these informations in a simple short lesson from mom. But, the more I got the info, the more questions appears.
Ah, thinking about it only made my head hurts. I'll just relax myself and be a kid, making tons of memories with my parents.
I swear, no one in this world shall be in my way of my happy life!

"He's asleep now." Martha said before looking at her husband placing his hoe on the storage room.
"How's the magic lesson with him?" Richard asked curiously before taking off his hat.
"He's one of a kind prodigy." Martha said with a smile while preparing a boiled water with her fire magic. "I was suppose to teach him, but he ended up discover new things for me about magic!"
"Really?" Richard perked up as he walk into the bathroom and washes himself. Few moments later, he walks out with new sets of clothes and a towel wrapping around his hair.
"He manage to cast a spell without chanting, and he creates water out of thin air!" Richard widen his eyes in shock.
"But, didn't you say it's impossible?" Martha nodded before she try herself with Igniculus and successfully create a fire, shocking Richard.
"I did say that, but apparently Matt knows how. So, I decide to test it myself, by practicing Igniculus with no chant as the cooking fire, and after few hours, it actually works. Perhaps, it's easier to do it if you do it since child." Martha stated proudly as she cuts off the flow of her mana, putting out the flame. "As for the water part, I haven't try it due to lack of detailed information, but then again, Matt's childish words isn't exactly an explanation."
"Wow....Do you think he has talents in Aura?" Martha stare at Richard in deadpan expression. "I'm just asking."
"We both know Aura won't show any signs at this age. Try to gauge his potential won't work." Martha stated before smiling. "But, he's your son as well. I bet he will have bigger potential than you."
"Even if he doesn't, we would still help him with his magic. He looks really eager in learning it, especially when he's so impatient that he grow a tomato plant." Richard said as Martha chuckles.
"Oh, you have no idea." Martha place a cup of tea as Richard drinks it. "He even acts like grandpa, giddy to learn magic, wrotes down everything he learns." Martha smiled as Richard chuckles. The two couples talk more about the days while chuckling, but not loud enough to disturb Matt.
To be continued.
