Chapter 5 - Lunatic?

"Hmmm hmmm"

"Mmm mmm"

I was humming with a carefree expression while occasionally skipping steps.

I was happier than ever, even when combined with the all happiness of the past 10 years.

After all, I got a damn good sleep for the first time in the years and even got a response from the goddess.

Such a bliss...

Children passed me and a few people, whom I didn't even know greeted me with waves.

Normally, children wouldn't even get close to me, so it was pretty surprising that they passed me with smiles on their faces.

'Being in a positive mood really changes the atmosphere and the behavior of people towards me, huh? I should go and meet my sister while I'm in a good mood.'

I always feared how my sister was going to act towards me.

When I left the house, she was merely 12 years old. There was a good chance that she already forgot about our childhood times, and was affected by the news that surrounded me.

'I wonder if she is still cute like back then and still likes chocolates and strawberries.'

Walking through the streets that were mainly crowded by young adults, I made my way towards a majestic blue facility. That was the academy I was going to stay for the time being.

Aurora Academy. Filled with many talented students and highly skilled professors who come from every corner of the continent. Its influence and economy were so large that a small city was built over time around it. It was usually called Aurora City or Academy City.

The students of Aurora Academy consisted of very talented commoners who got inside with scholarships and contracts to work for the academy for 10 years, and noble young masters/ladies, and children of wealthy merchants.

In short, there were a lot of people inside.

As for how commoners and nobles get along, well, they don't. According to the academy's rules, all students are equal in the academy.

'Hahaha! It is just ridiculous. What if nobles and commoners are equal in the academy? If commoners do something nobles don't like, they can easily threaten the families of commoners or kill the commoners they don't like when they graduate or leave the academy.'

The smile on my face twisted a little and my hand subconsciously went to the secret pocket of my black military suit.

But before my hand reached my precious cross, someone ran towards me and bowed to me.

"INSPECTION CHIEF MANAGER, CAELUM ACHARD?"

But lady, why are you shouting at me?

*******

Cassi Colvin, the vice principal of Aurora Academy. She was the disciple of the principal, who is said to be one step away from being Grandmage and someone with great talent who will take over the principal role in the future.

But this high-ranking person was bowing in front of a black-haired, gray-eyed man who was donned in dark leather booths, pants, shirt, necktie, and over them a black military-style suit. On his face was a very twisted smile that made Cassi Colvin sweat bullets.

"INSPECTION CHIEF MANAGER, CAELUM ACHARD?"

'Oh shit, why did I scream? He will now think of me as a rude person and cleave my neck!'

The poor vice principal was a naive idiot with lots of imagination, who believed all kinds of rumors without thinking about them.

The rumors about how Caelum Achard executed a whole marquise household without even leaving their servants alive to how Caelum Achard was a sadistic person who liked to torture innocent people and hear their miserable screams.

So, for this cowardly woman, Caelum was one of the most horrifying existences she encountered. And Caelum's previous twisted smile wasn't helping the situation at all.

"Sigh..."

Calum let out a sigh. His earlier good mood plummeted to the ground.

Yes, his mood was excellent enough for other people to greet him but that was it. They just didn't know his complete identity and the news around him.

To the normal people, earlier Caelum was a civilized person with a warm atmosphere before they learned his identity.

However, people like the woman in front of him, who knew his identity, were still clearly awkward around him.

"Lift your head,"

The vice principal Cassi Colvin hesitantly straightened her back but she couldn't lift her eyes to Caelum.

"Who are you?"

"I–I am Cassi Col—"

While Cassi Colvin was replying, Caelum cut her off.

"I didn't ask your name, lady. I said, who are you?"

Cassi Colvin froze. She couldn't process what Caelum asked for a moment. Her brown eyes moistened because of the anxiety.

"Sigh..."

Caelum lost his remaining good mood after seeing that the woman was about to cry. Although it was a bit cute to see her about to cry, it wasn't good for his already bad reputation. Everyone was watching with strange expressions.

"Just now, what did you call me?"

"I–Inspection Chief Manager...?"

"Yes, that is right, I'm the Inspection Chief Manager. Now tell me who are you?

Caelum talked with a calm tone like a kind teacher who teaches children.

The woman's face brightened and her confidence recovered quite a bit.

"Ah, yes... I am the vice principal of Aurora Academy, Cassi Colvins. I'm here to lead you to the principal... If you are okay with it, Sir Caelum, that is."

Caelum nodded and gestured to her.

"Sure, lead the way, Vice principal."

Vice principal's tense expression softened with Caelum's calm demeanor and she inwardly released a sigh of relief that contained many feelings.

'He didn't kill me…'

'My neck is still on my shoulders…'

'I didn't get tortured either…'

'He is rather kind and understanding...?'

'It seems he doesn't like calling people by their names. Is he strict with himself while he is working?'

'But woah... His entire presence is something else. Is his level near to the principal's?'

The vice principal's thoughts continued like this while leading Caelum. However, the person in question was oblivious to the vice principal's absurd fears towards him.

Caelum calmly wandered his gaze as he passed the academy gates with the vice principal.

He now understood why this Academy was so popular.

Dormitories that were even too large for a few thousand students, training grounds for every profession, lecture halls, research rooms, etc.

'It definitely deserves the money it gets from the nobles.'

Students threw gazes full of curiosity at the person who was accompanied by the vice principal.

Most commoners and nobles watched his every small movement, trying to find out his identity.

However, some nobles recognized him and strangely, they kept their mouth shut until Caelum disappeared from their sight.

One by one, they released the breath they were holding.

"What happened? Why did you pale like a ghost? Who is that person to make you like this?"

"Lunatic! That man is a lunatic!"

"Then why is Vice Principal Cassi leading a lunatic like a servant? Just say what you know?"

"..."

The other party swallowed his words and started to slowly explain.

"It was three years ago... I was participating in the coming of age party of Count Simon's daughter..."

"Ah, that count?"

"Yes, that count. I was present at the scene. That man was younger than now but I still remember those gray eyes. He kicked open the door of the party and directly asked for a dance from the daughter of Count Simon..."

"Then? Continue."

"Then, the girl reluctantly agreed and they began to dance, but in the middle of the dance, he abruptly squeezed the girl's neck to a pulp and then cracked open the skull of Count Simon, who came over to his daughter while crying. The man said that the daughter was a succubus while Count Simon was a demon worshiper..."

"Woah! Is what he said true?"

"I don't know but I think it is true. Or else he wouldn't able walk leisurely in the broad daylight."

"Hahaha... That is true. Such an interesting guy. I want to meet him."

"You mustn't, your highne–"

"Na-a, you are worrying for nothing, my dear vassal. I'm a prince, no one can touch me, not even that man who executed a count family."

The man with blue hair and blue eyes nonchalantly answered his worried vassal.
