Terrified.
Presley's eyes wandered to which path she was going to take. Did Esmira really leave her here? Or was it a dream?
She was only threatening her, she really wasn't going to run off.
Beads of sweat formed on her head and the hairs on her skin rose. After a while she thought couldn't just stay there, she had to move. With her bare feet she finally began to run to a path her instincts had chosen for her.
With each passing moment, the forest seemed to swallow her whole, enveloping her in the world of darkness, shadows and secrets, the rustling leaves whispered tales of forgotten paths, while the distant calls of unseen creatures sent shivers down her spine.
With each second, Presley's fear grew like a vine, entwining itself around her heart. She called for Esmira into the darkness, her voice trembling with desperation but only the silence of the forest answered her back. Alone and afraid, she pressed on her determination outweighing her doubts, guided by nothing but her instincts, she forged ahead, hoping against hope to find her way back to anywhere that looked safer than there.
Suddenly, she heard sounds. Weird sounds that seemed to come from people and she collapsed onto the fallen leaves, tears of relief streaming down her cheeks thinking she had found hope.
"Help" she screamed but found herself surrounded by these people she thought was going to help her. Their figures were in shadows but she squinted her eyes to get a better view at the people surrounding her. Her eyes wandered for a place to run and then ordinary men and women underwent a metamorphosis, their humanity giving way to primal instincts of the wolf within.
Their bodies contorted and shifted, fur sprouting from their skins as claws replaced fingers and teeth sharpened into deadly fangs. Her eyes screamed in horror of what was being displayed right infront of her.
It couldn't be
She found herself encircled by a pack of wolves, their eyes gleaming like amber jewels in the dim light, their breaths forming wisps of steam in the cold air. Presley's heart hammered against her chest as fear surged through her veins. She stood frozen, a line figure amidst the predator, her mind racing for a way out of this perilous situation.
The wolves moved with silent grace, their sleek bodies weaving around her closing in from all sides. Their low growls reverberated through the air, a chilling reminder of their primal instinct. She didn't know what to do. Their eyes gleamed with hunger as they closed in on her, their growls echoing through the night. Presley backed away, her movements desperate and frantic.
Every step she took seemed to bring the wolves closer, their predatory instinct sharpened by scent of fear that hung heavy in the air.
Right there when she thought she was finally going to hell where she belonged a figure emerged from the shadows. His blue eyes blazing with determination. With a swift movement he stepped between her and the advancing wolves, his stance bold and unwavering.
"Stay behind me" he commanded, his voice steady despite the dangers surrounding them. With fierce determination, he faced off against the leader of the pack, his gaze locked with the wolf's. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as a man and a beast faced each other in silent battle. Then, with a snarl the wolf lunged forward, jaws snapping dangerously close to his throat. But he was ready. With an insane speed, he dodged the wolf's attack and hit it with a swift blow, sending the creature reeling backwards. His blue eyes slowly turned red and his fangs elongated. Seeing their leader departed, the other wolves ran into the forest where they emerged from. He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards safety. His grip firm and reassuring.
Together they raced through the forest, the sounds of the wolves angry howls fading into the distance behind them as they emerged into the the clear moonlit night.
Presley looked at her saviour with gratitude showing in her eyes for the first time in her nineteen years of life.
"Thank you" she whispered her voice trembling with emotion.
Her turned back to face her with a smile on his face but it instantly settled seeing the girl he just saved was Myra.
His one and only
His love of life
His first love.
"Myra?" His brows furrowed in confusion and she gave him a blinking stare.
"Do you know me?"she asked tilting her head sideways.
"Don't tell me you don't remember me…that would be bullshit-"
"Are you someone I am supposed to remember?" She hissed,It was like her gratitude from seconds ago disappeared in a blink of an eye and was replaced by her rude attitude. He laughed bitterly in disbelief and she noticed a side dimple on his cheek.
Charming, she thought.
"Myra…if it's because of what happened between us…don't do this to me…please" his eyes were pleading. She got uncomfortable and didn't know what to do in the situation until she remembered what they diagnosed her with.
"Ah, I have amnesia so I don't remember most things…you are?" His blue eyes gleamed with regret, as if he wanted to pull her close into his embrace and never let her go.
"What are you doing here in Nysa?" He asked worriedly, he still couldn't believe she was here with him. He had thought they were done for good. The last time they met she had made it clear that they will never see each other again. That she didn't want anything to do with him anymore. Perhaps she missed him and wanted to see him then got lost on her way.
He shook his head inwardly
Kendrick don't be so delusional.
"I-I got lost somehow…do you know prince Ze'ev? Maybe you could take me to his place, since you know me or maybe we were acquaintances then you probably know who I was getting married to right?"
"Married?!"
