For another week Presley immersed herself in the world of fantasies, she didn't have nightmares because she didn't sleep. She only slept three hours maximum without nightmares. It was almost Friday and she would go back to the library to return the books and borrow new ones.
As an introvert she kinda liked being alone, it was just that boredom made her want to kill herself again.
The reason she loved books so much was that they erased her from this cruel world entirely. When she was reading a book she would forget all her problems. Books were flowery and full of happy endings. It was rare to see a sad ending in a book especially romance genres. That was one thing that she knew was normal about her.
A girl that loved to read about fantasies and romance.
She was outside, reading a novel while sitting on a bench. She was in the mansion's garden. She had begged Loïc and rogue she wanted to come out and have some fresh air. They said okay since she was still in the mansion and they were going to be watching her as she read. Ze'ev wasn't informed though.
After an hour of reading, she heard noises that disturbed her peaceful moment and she grimaced. She saw rogue arguing with someone and she walked to them.
Surprised to see Kendrick, she shut all of them up my screaming stop. They all turned their heads to her.
"What are you doing here?" She asked Ken and he shyly scratched the back of his neck.
" just…I just wanted to see you" he spoke nervously
"I told you I'm married…we are not dating anymore" she made it really clear on how she was now married and he should work on his feelings the last time they met. Call her heartless for saying that but it was for the best.
"We told him to leave but he said he just wanted to see you…he will leav-"
"Don't worry, he just wants to see me…i miss being around people anyways"she didn't know she could ever utter that. She used to lock herself In her own room but that was different from being locked in her room against her will. rogue shook his head
"No way he's staying…we've been breaking a lot of rules for you your highness, you really want to get us killed" he seemed serious. If anything goes wrong with her and Kendrick it would be the end of them.
"Please rogue, Ze'ev won't come anytime soon, and I really appreciate you guys bending the rules for me…I really do but it's been suffocating not having someone to speak with. You guys won't play with me plus I haven't seen Euan in a while" she pouted her lips.
Loïc ran his fingers through his hair trying hard not to say yes.
"Fuck" he cursed under his breath.
"One hour" rogue said
"We are fucked" Loïc whispered
"Thank you" she grabbed Kendrick by the wrist and pulled him to the garden. Their eyes widened as they saw her take his hand and they both cursed.
"So screwed" rogue added to Loïc words
They took a walk in the garden and Kendrick spoke first.
"Where's your…husband?"
"He's busy with work, almost three weeks now" she played with the flowers with her fingers like it didn't bother her if Ze'ev was with her or not
"So you've been alone for the past three weeks"he asked but she didn't reply.
"I wish I was there with you" he added and she gave him a stare that told him to stop saying whatever he was trying to say and shut the hell up because if he was getting cheesy, he was going home. She felt bad for him but she wasn't Myra.
"Look at these flowers, so pretty and perfect. I hate them" she envied them.
"You loved flowers you know?" Ken smiled and she turned her head towards his direction
"I did?"
"You really don't remember anything about yourself?, you used to teach me about flowers since your parents wouldn't allow you to be around people. You loved them so much you learnt every single thing about them"
"That's so—can you tell me the names of some flowers in this garden" she asked. She just needed something to entertain her for a while, reading can actually get boring sometimes.
"You're touching Forget-Me-Nots" he pointed at the blue flowers she was touching
"I've heard about these" an invisible smile crept on her face, she didn't even know why she was smiling at the tiny blossoms.
"They symbolise…true love and respect. It represents a promise that you will always…remember someone and will always keep them in your thoughts. They are also considered as a symbol of faithfulness" with a few pauses, Ken managed to finish the sentence with teary eyes.
"You know a lot" she failed to notice his watered eyes.
"I learned from the best" she also failed to notice the crack in his voice.
"What are these ones?"
"Lavenders…they're edible"
"Those ones?"
"Hyacinths"
"And these?"
"Ivy"
Time seemed to fly fast, she learnt a lot of Kendrick about flowers and soon his one hour was up. She wanted to plead for another hour but she had gotten them into a lot of stress so she bid Ken goodbye. He had also given her some forget-me-nots he handpicked when she wasn't looking. He was sweet…very sweet. He had good looks too. He was light skin, had braided hair, blue eyes, long lashes, lovely dimples when he smiled. He was a pretty boy.
She remembered the last time they saw each other. He explained how they dated secretly without anybody from the royal family knowing and how they would secretly sneak out at nights for dates. It was romantic, something that only existed in novels.
