Chereads / …To Live / Chapter 30 - Kendrick

Chapter 30 - Kendrick

The club was noisy, reeked of sex, drugs, alcohol, and any other sinful things that vampires indulged in. He was upstairs with his cousin away from the noise downstairs but it was still disturbing, he wondered how zyran succeeded in convincing him to come here. They could still see people making out in the corner, some spiking peoples' drinks. Others were dancing or either draining the blood from their partners. Everything was so shameful to see. He wondered why people wasted their energies in here.

"Rane? Why are we here" he grimaced

"Spread your wings dude" he had been so busy lately working both day and night. He was sure he was starving.

"I need to get back to work…and I'm married" Ze'ev shunned him almost instantly.

"It's an arranged marriage, you guys have zero feelings for each other plus it's not like you can feed on a human"

"I'm leaving" he got up. He loved zyran but he could be annoying at times.

"Isn't that Adilyn?" Ze'ev turned his head to the direction rane was facing and his muscles worked.

It was Adilyn

"Bye" he uttered barely in a whisper but rane halted him by saying another thing.

"She's coming" his muscles worked but he continued walking. He wondered what she was doing here.

"Zev?" His jaws clenched, he heard her call him just the way he used to like it. Once upon a time, He used to like it when she called him that way but now it was like his name was being whispered by a disgusting creature.

"Did you call her here?" He glared at zyran.

"Why would I?" He knew how she betrayed Ze'ev so why would he want to reunite them. Plus Ze'ev was already… married.

"Are you avoiding me?" She grabbed his arm with a smile. He grimaced and pulled his arm off her gently.

"Come sit" she grabbed his arm again and led him to the sofa where he was seated before.

"I was leaving" he got up

"Don't be a wet blanket" rane slouched in the sofa, he hated Adilyn but wanted to see where this was going. Ze'ev shot a glare at him instantly, wasn't he supposed to be helping him, why the fuck was he suggesting he stayed here with Adilyn.

"Yeah, stay with me" she yanked him by the arm and his butt fell on the couch.

Stay with her?

That was exactly what he didn't want to do.

"When did you come back zyran?" She put a grape in her mouth, chewing with a smirk.

"Almost a month ago" he replied eyeing an hot lady in the corner of the room while biting his lower lip.

"So…" she placed a grape in front of his lips but when he gave her a side glance, she pursed her lips

"No? Okay" she chewed the grape instead

Zyran was fighting hard with himself so he wouldn't burst into laughter. It looked like Ze'ev was doing everything in his power so he wouldn't rip Adi's head off her body but she was pushing her luck. His reaction was everything right now.

"You got married?" She ran her beautiful slender fingers through her hair and faked a smile at him

"None of your business" he said flatly

"You didn't invite me so I could see your little human wife" he didn't reply to that and just kept his eyes shut.

"Are you still mad at me?" She stared blinking at him, her painted lips twitching

"We broke up" he stated

"Yeah but you keep showing signs of how you're still mad at me"

"I'm not"

"You even avoid me at work"

"I never even noticed you" his words were sharper than knives stabbing her in the heart repeatedly. She wondered if he had always been like this and she just failed to notice.

"Is she prettier?"

"I don't pay attention to looks" a loud cough was heard from zyran followed by the glare Ze'ev threw at him.

"You seemed to have moved on" she suddenly sounded sad and he rolled his eyes. Here we go again. Her trying to be pitiful.

"You replaced me so fast…while I'm still here trying to forget about it"

"I'm leaving…don't touch me" he warned before getting up. Zyran had left to have a little chit chat with the lady he had been eyeing for minutes so he was left with Adilyn. He couldn't take it anymore.

"At least take me home" she stood behind him, he groaned and turned to face her. She wore a cargo skirt that showed off her long flawless legs, a crop tee that exposed her cleavage enough to intrigue. Her short black hair fell on her shoulders and her earrings dangled on each side. Her hazel eyes were lovely. it was a perfect match for her skin colour. She was the clear image of a doll, maybe because she worked as a model.

"What do you really want Adi?"

"Nothing, just take me home please" what did she really think of him. Did she really think he was that naïve to take her home so she would seduce him into bed not like it would work but he knew Adilyn. She would do anything to get what she wants. She could drug him… so prevention before cure, right?

"No"

He left her there standing alone. His love for her hadn't died completely yet. He was heartbroken and he couldn't trust her again. She broke his trust, she shattered it and there was no way he could bring himself to love her like he used to, to see her like he used to. Like his world, his everything.

He got into his car and slammed the door shut, he heard his phone ring and grabbed it from the back seat. How did he even forget it in the car.

"This is Ze'ev"

He got back to his office and people bowed their heads as he walked passed them, he settled himself on his seat in his office and waited patiently for someone to arrive. Drumming on his table to clear his mind from thinking about Adilyn.

Soon someone knocked lightly on the door and his head snapped towards it.

"Come in"

A female in a professional suit with gold wired rimmed glasses and lip gloss applied on her lips walked in gracefully and handed a document in a brown cover to him.

"You can leave" he spoke taking a look at the document that she just gave him. She bowed her head and left, shutting the door behind her.

He stared at the document with a curious look plastered on his face.

'Kendrick Rhett'
