"You want me to do what now?" Naomi, the youngest girl in the agency, exclaimed in shock. She was almost eighteen years old and a very pretty and energetic girl.
Naomi was good at all sports. You could say she was a sports nerd because she loved them and was interested in anyone who did them. Of course, she was good at them as well.
She had just finished surfing on the beach when she got a call to report back to the agency ASAP. It was her day off so she wondered what it was all about and concluded it to be something really important.
She got to HQ, only to be told about a mission she never thought was possible.
"Wait, hold up. Let me rephrase this." Naomi shook her head, trying to get things straight. "You want me... A girl, to go to an all boys school just to spy on some guy whose identity the agency has no clue about and discover who is involved in the secret illegal weapon transaction?" She asked.
They all looked at each other, nodding their heads affirmatively.
"Yeah, I'd say that's pretty much correct." Ben said and Naomi stared at them, dumbstruck.
"You guys, you're sending me to carry out a 'mission impossible'." She stressed out and folded her arms. "Only a crazy girl would do that."
"And that's why we chose you." Ivan muttered.
"Say what?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Naomi, you're such a talented girl and that's why we chose you." Zack played it by the tooth and Naomi knew it too well. She rolled her eyes.
"You don't say. Are you sure it's not because I'm the only girl, and not just the only girl, the only 'one' young enough to attend that school?" She gave them a look and they darted their eyes.
"Okay, you got us." Ben admitted. "But what's so bad about that?"
"Everything." Naomi stated seriously.
"She's right." Ivan said and they all shot him a 'You are not helping' glare.
Naomi sighed. Could the superiors get even more childish? In front of others they acted so high and mighty but with her? She sighed again.
"We all know I'm in this agency because you guys insisted my 'abilities' shouldn't go to waste and I decided to stay at the lowest rank because I'm not a fighter. I can throw a punch or two and that's it. You... " She pointed at Ben. "...You never let me undergo special training and so I don't know how to defend myself in critical moments." She said and slumped back on the chair. "How am I supposed to find the bad guy's if I can't even protect myself?"
The three of them exchanged gaze while looking anxious. It wasn't easy to convince someone who wasn't under the rules indeed.
"Okay, once this mission is complete, you can commence training." Zack said, looking serious but Naomi rolled her eyeballs.
"Nice try, uncle. But I think I'll pass." She stood up ready to leave.
"Wait." Ivan called out and she stopped, turned to him and tilted her head. "The national car racing competition is coming up soon. I'm sure you're aware of that." He said and she nodded.
"Yeah, so?"
"Don't you want to participate?" He inquired.
"Of course I want to participate." She said, sounding a bit desperate.
"Good. I heard your race car got damaged during your last race. If you agree to carry out this mission, I'll give you the money to fix it." He offered stunning Naomi.
"Uncle... You're serious." She said, staring wide-eyed at him and he nodded.
"When have I ever broken my promise?" He asked and Naomi leaped for joy. "So, is that a yes? Will you do it?"
"I'll be crazy not to." Naomi claimed joyously.
"But you're already crazy." Ben muttered.
"So, when do I begin this mission?" She asked, still feeling excited.
"Tomorrow." They chorused.
"To... Tomorrow?" She asked, surprised. "But that's too soon. I have plans tomorrow. Why not the day after, please?" She requested and they saw no reason not to agree.
"Alright." They agreed. "You can go the day after tomorrow."
She was about to leave when she remembered something.
"Wait, you're not making me go to that school dressed as a boy, right?" She inquired and honestly, they hadn't given that a thought at all. And her gaze that kept piercing at them told them that she didn't want to go dressed as a boy so they complied with her wishes.
"No, not at all." Zack spoke up with swart dropping from the corner of his head. "You can go as a girl, no problem there." He said and Naomi smiled.
"Okay, I'll get back to the beach. See you the day after tomorrow." She left the office with a smiling face and the three of them finally felt relaxed.
"God, I almost couldn't breathe. She's really crazy." Ben complained.
"How? I still think she's cute, though." Zack said, dancing on happy memories.
"Says the guy who just broke out in cold sweat at her question." Ivan mocked and they both laughed at Zack. "But still, I can't remember how we got stuck with her."
"It's all thanks to you two morons who fell in love at first sight." Ben fired at them.
"Oh, just because tours took a little longer, you want to point fingers?" Zack fired back at him. "If not for your late wife, I bet you would've fallen in love the moment you two met."
"Don't bring Martha into this." Ben glared at him and Zack rolled his eyeballs.
"What the heck? Why are you two fighting now?" Ivan asked and sighed. "In the end, we all fell in love with three of her aunts so break it up."
"It's like we're bound by a spell though. A sweet love spell." Zack reminisced.
"Anyway, I'm glad I fell again. It's really nice." Ben said, relaxing his back on his chair and smiling warmly to himself.
"Well then, no time to reminisce about lovey-dovey memories, back to work."
