Chapter 7 - I lost my bag

Naomi and Matthew stared at him shocked. He had no filter for his words, she thought. The way he said it, it was so strange.

Realising what he had just said, Pete's face flushed and Matthew laughed.

"Haha, now I'm thinking it'd have been better if I squashed you while falling." Naomi stated, clearly offended with what he said. "But oh well." She smirked. "Next time though."

Matthew and Pete stared at her, perplexed. Then, Matthew started laughing again.

"Oh, it's such a hearty morning." He exclaimed, wiping the tears off the corner of his eyes. "It's time for breakfast, so pretty lady, you go on ahead." He said and Naomi quickly left.

"That boy is strange."

"That girl is crazy." Pete exclaimed and Matthew threw his arms around Pete's shoulder. "How can she so carelessly fall out her window? She didn't even look scared in the slightest."

"Hm, guessing it happened pretty often." Matthew said and then burst out laughing. "But really, 'You're so light'? What were you thinking saying that to her face?" He laughed more.

Pete's face flushed in embarrassment. Truthfully, he wasn't thinking at all. He just said whatever came to mind at that moment.

"Why are you laughing?" Pete asked, glaring at him. "It's not like I've ever carried a girl before. I didn't think they were so light as a... " He looked at his hands. "...feather."

"Then what did you expect? Girls aren't guys. They're soft, small, fragile. So it's our sole duty as guys to love and protect them." Matthew explained and Pete nodded. "Now, let's go eat."

They were about to leave when Pete stopped him.

"Wait a moment."

While eating breakfast, Naomi beckoned on Travis to join her once she saw him striding through the cafeteria hall alone. They chatted for a while and didn't really mind the hundreds of eyes that were questioning their relationship.

After the meal, Naomi went straight to her locker.

"So, have they given you a class yet?" Travis asked but Naomi shook her head.

"No, not yet." She tried to open her locker but for some reason, it wouldn't open. "Hm, that's strange."

"What's wrong?" Travis asked.

"For some reason, my locker won't open." She said, "This is my locker, right?"

"Judging by how it was sprayed pink the other day, I'd say yes. It's like the principal decided to announce that this was the locker of the only girl in the school." He laughed.

"Then why won't it open? It seems stuck."

"Let me try." Travis suggested and she stepped aside.

Travis forced the locker open and as soon as it did, numerous letters fell and filled the floor.

"This is..." He looked at Naomi who was staring in disbelief.

"I just resumed yesterday." She yelled and shook her head. "Travis, help me. I need to get rid of these things." She bent down to pick them up.

"It's almost time for class. Just put them in your bag and throw them out later." He suggested.

"Okay." She nodded and reached for her bag. "I'll just put them in my..." She paused, noticing her two hands were empty. That was when she came to realise that her bag hadn't been with her the whole time. "My bag?"

"What's wrong?"

"It seems I lost my bag somewhere." She said but shook her head. "No, I must've left it in the dorm." She concluded and to Travis, she gave him a task. "Help me clean this up while I search for my bag, please?"

He nodded without a second thought.

"Alright. Just hurry up so you won't miss class."

"Thank you."

Naomi, just in case she actually left her bag somewhere, retraced her steps back to the cafeteria and then to the garden she stopped by before going to the cafeteria and then, back to the dorms.

"It must be in my room." She concluded and went up but when she tried to open her room door, it didn't open. "Right, I fell out the window while my room was still locked." She folded her arms. Now, what was she going to do?

Some of the students were just leaving their rooms so she came up with an idea.

"Um, excuse me," she called and they stopped, blushing at the cute girl in front of them. "You see, I seemed to have locked my door. I don't have a spare key so it's a bit burdensome but I need help."

"Then, would you like our help to break it down?" They actively offered but she shook her head.

"That's fine. I just need to get to my door through..."

"Then would you like to try out our key?" One of them offered and Naomi wanted to decline but thought of this as a brilliant idea.

"Yes, please."

They handed her their key and while she pretended to try to open her door with it, she slipped one of the keys from the bunch out.

"Ah, I guess it didn't work. I'll try someone else's. Thank you anyway." She smiled and they blushed brighter.

"No problem. If you ever need our help, we'll be happy to help." They said and she nodded.

"Alright. I'll keep that in mind."
