Just then, someone at the door beckoned on Mr King and he left the class for a few seconds before returning with a bag in his hand.
"Miss Naomi, it seems you lost your bag." He said and Naomi immediately got to her feet. "Someone found it for you."
"Who was it?" She asked as she approached to take it.
"I think he's a student from class 5 C. Make sure to find him and thank him later. Right now, class is... " Naomi dashed outside, in hopes of seeing who it was but by the time she got outside the class, he was already entering his own class.
But she managed to see his back view but it wasn't family.
Who was it? She'd just have to ask around later.
"Can I safely proceed with my class?" Mr King's asked, patiently waiting for her to get back in and she turned to him.
"Ah, I'm sorry. I just got too excited from finding my bag."
"Just make sure everything's intact." She nodded and did just that. There was nothing missing and so, she gave out a sigh of relief.
The class commenced and after which, they went to the field for P.E class.
Naomi thought she'd have to wait till they were all done before she changed but surprisingly, they all took their things outside the locker room, giving room to her to change in peace.
'They're so thoughtful.' She thought and quickly changed her clothes. She loosened her pigtails and tied her hair up into a ponytail. It was better and flexible to do stunts with her hair up.
"Okay everyone, we're going to start with three laps round the field." Mr King instructed and they grumbled. Thanks to thier grumbling, he added two more laps. "I don't see any reason why you can't run extra two. You're running five laps."
"But Mr King, shouldn't you be conciderate on behalf of the new girl?" Someone asked.
"Speak for yourself. I'd say she's doing just fine." Mr King said and all eyes went to Naomi who was already stretching her limbs in preparation for the stunt. "That's something you don't see everyday."
He put his whistle in his mouth and blew it.
They all started running, or should I say, jogging.
A guy called Tom, slowed his pace to speak to Naomi.
"Hey, if you get tired. I can help you finish the laps." He said but Naomi rolled her eyes.
'You clearly underestimate me.' She thought. 'Five laps? This is nothing.' "Thanks for the offer but I don't think I'll need it." She said and hugged past him.
The guys around teased him for his failure but all he could think was, 'She's so pretty.'
After running and jogging for a while, the give laps were complete. Most of the guys slumped on the floor in exhaustion while others tried to stay standing as not to look bad in front of Naomi who looked perfectly fine and was heartily talking with Mr King.
"Are you sure that girl ran the five laps with us?" One of the boys, Lucas, asked.
"Yeah, we ran at the same pace." Liam, another classmate who was lying flat on the floor, said.
"Is this normal? I thought girls were fragile. No, can this be considered human strength?"
"She feels too great to be true."
"She's got a lot of stamina, I guess." Someone said and suddenly, their minds were filled with a complete opposite stuff but they quickly brushed it aside.
"Stand up straight, you bunch of babies." Mr King yelled and they all stood with their weak and exhausted figures. "Look at you, you call yourself men yet a girl can do way better than you."
"Are you sure she's not a robot?" Someone randomly said and they all laughed.
"Wow, and in what age were robots who could sweat invented?" Mr King asked and they all looked at Naomi who had swear rolling down her forehead and under her chin. "Does that resemble a robot to you? Shameless."
"It's okay, Mr King. I'm just really good at sports and I exercise a lot too so I guess it's not normal to be at my level." She did. "So, please cut them some slack. It's not her fault." She smiled.
They all blushed at her smiling face and did not even think about how she indirectly called them incompetent and weak. It was just refreshing to see a girl smile like that at them once in a while.
"Class dismissed. You can thank her later." Mr King announced and turned to leave.
Naomi approached Travis.
"What'd I tell ya? It's in my blood." She said, referring to when he said she had a way to smooth talking gnr teacher.
Travis, too tired to stay on his feet, slumped to the ground.
"Oh my, aren't you a member of the basketball team? How come you're so weak? This little laps aren't supposed to stop you, right?" She asked and he raised an eyebrow at her.
"Says the girl who finished five laps without braking a sweat."
"Don't say that. You see this." She pointed at the beads of sweat that were on her forehead. "I broke more than a sweat." She said.
"But truly, you're great." Travis said and she nodded.
"I know." She stretched her hand to help him up. "Now get up."
Travis took her hand but while she was lighting him up, he made a remark.
"Maybe if you kiss me, I'll get all my energy back." At that moment, she brutally let go of his hand and he fell on his butt.
"You're on your own, kiddo." She folded her arms and he laughed.
"You're truly remarkable." He stated and though she didn't know where that was coming from, took it as it was.
"It's alright." She nodded proudly and checked her watch. "But get up already, I have to leave soon."
"Why are you in a hurry? The teacher gave us the rest of the period to rest."
"Yeah but I need to use the shower room before you guys so that I don't inconvenience you guys any further." She said and turned to leave.
"Okay. We have swimming practice after this." Travis said and Naomi nodded.
"Then I better get ready to hit the water." She said, smiling to herself but Travis' face looked stunned.
"Ready for swimming... Class? You're going to... Swim?"
