Chapter 13 - He treats me better than you.

"You scared me!" Evily muttered.

"Why should you be scared? Unless you're feeling guilty?"

Bruce could no longer get mad at her upon seeing those little puppy eyes. But he was still very much disturbed by the thought of her being intimate with another man.

He stood up from the couch where he had been sitting and slowly walked closer to her. He picked up a bottle of water from the refrigerator and passed it to her,

"Thirsty?"

Evily slowly nodded her head as she sat up, while Bryc opened the bottle up. She reached for it but he moved his hand away from her. Evily raised a brow at him, but he ignored her and placed the bottle on her lips.

"I'll hold it for you," He said softly. Evily looked at his face, but when she saw the stoic look on his face she knew better than to argue with him. She opened her mouth and began to drink.

After drinking to her satisfaction, Bruce removed the bottle from her mouth and capped it back.

"Mr Hudson."

"My name. Or you can call me Bruce; either works."

Evily was speechless once again, not knowing how to deal with this man.

Flipping her hair, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"Why did you sigh? What's causing your distress?"

"I want to discharge. I want to rest at home peacefully." Evily said.

Bruce agreed to take her home. But there was a drizzle amidst the grey sky. The droplets of rain were light and small. They were like a hazy cloud, engulfing the whole city in its embrace.

The rain landed on the car's body, which stood mightily and elegantly in the middle of the rain's nebulosity.

Bruce, who was standing at the side, hurried to grab the umbrella from her and watched her get into the car. He kept the umbrella quickly and got into the car, buckling his seatbelt.

There was complete silence in the car. Evily had directed her gaze to the scenery outside the moment she got into the car.

"Do you like the city or the rain?"

Bruce asked as he stared at her without much emotion.

"Rain," Evily replied. "Thank you for today." She added.

----

Bruce tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, then he unlocked the doors.

Just as she was about to open the car door, Bruce reached out to stop her.

His warm and fair hand wrapped around her beautiful hand, their contact making Evil tense up.

"Take care of yourself. Call me anytime."

He gave her hand a squeeze, his low and magnetic voice found traces of reluctance to leave her.

"Okay," answered Evily. That was one of the rare times of absolute compliance.

She went down. She closed the door and saw the Cayenne off before turning around. The moment she did, Evily froze.

She looked at the man standing not far away from her. He was in a suit, looking energetic. The woman felt her heart squeeze, and her face. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her flesh, but she couldn't feel it. Her attention was on the man before her, and she bit her lip.

Alexander had seen her a while back. Since she got out of that black Cayenne, he had never taken his eyes off her. He did not expect her to get over him in such a short time and hook up with another man.

For some inexplicable reason, Alexandar felt annoyed and angered when he saw Evily leaving that car. He stared at her, looking displeased. "Who was the man who sent you back just now?

"Please don't show up in front of me ever again," Evily said.

"Do you know what you're doing, Eve? Yes, I know Amelia and I have hurt you, but you can only accept it now that it has happened. You don't have to hook up with the first man you see! It's degrading!"

"Degrading? Do you know what you're talking about, Alexandar?" Evily thought this man was laughable, unbelievable, even.

"Eve!" Alexandar looked at her incredulously. He couldn't imagine the docile woman who agreed to everything he said and thought about him all the time would turn out this way.

"Eve, you… Listen to me. Don't just find any man out there because you hate me. Do you know who is he? Do you know—"

"What I know is that he treats me better than you all. At least he wouldn't betray me and sell me off."

"Better? Do you know him well? How long have you known him? Eve, I know you found a random man to make me angry. But doing this—"

"Enough, Alex If you won't leave, I'll call the police."

Alexander was too stubborn and he just wouldn't give up. The man refused to leave even after hearing what Evily said. He kept yelling Evily's name, and her neighbours who walked past him were already gossiping.
