Outside, Alexandar's fury intensified when he couldn't hear Evily's voice anymore. "Eve! open the door. Let's talk. Do you think evading me will solve the problem? You can't avoid me forever!"
"Excuse me, are you a resident here?"
Alexnadae had been there for quite some time when two police officers suddenly came up behind him. They studied Alexandar before telling him, "Someone made a police report, saying someone was causing a ruckus and being a nuisance to the public here. If you're not a resident here, please come with us."
Alexander was taken away by the two police officers and Evily finally had some peace.
Right when Evily was about to let her defences down, her phone rang. She hesitated when she saw the number, but answered the call anyway. "Hello?"
"Has he left yet?" A low male voice travelled through the speaker.
Evily was surprised. "You were the one who called the police? Are you still here?"
She was about to call the police, but the police officers arrived before she could do so. Evily thought it was her neighbour who had called the police, but it turned out to be Bruce.
"I'm back home." Bruce poured himself a glass of water and he leaned back on the sofa, drumming his fingers against the glass.
Evily had no idea what to say. The man had already left, but he still managed to resolve this problem for her. She owed him another favour now.
"Since he has left, rest well. You don't have to go to work tomorrow." Bruce said.
"What does it mean?." Evily asked.
"Listen to me once. Take proper rest." Bruce bid her goodbye and hung up.
Evily felt warmth spreading in her heart as she stared at her phone after Bruce hung up.
'Is he really serious about her?'
-----
Alexander never expected that Evily would go through with her threats and call the police. He told them his name in hopes of using his status to get of out this ordeal, but the police officers merely snorted and didn't let him go.
Alexander didn't know that Bruce Hudson. was the one who had called the police. Of course, the police couldn't let him leave that easily.
Alexander had no choice but to call Amelia. When Amelia heard that Alexander was waiting police station, she immediately headed to the police station.
Alexander walked out after recording his statement and was greeted by Amelia.
"What happened? Why are you at the police station? They said you were a nuisance to the public? what happened?
Alexander was irritated by Amelia's incessant bombardment of questions. But when he saw how worried Amelia was, he reigned in his impatience and told her, "It was Eve!"
"Eve?" Amelia frowned. That witch again? Despite her inner thoughts, she pretended to be worried and blamed herself.
"I'm sorry, Alex. It was all my fault. You can go back to her. Will she forgive us that way?"
"What are you talking about? Who do you think I am? I'm a human being, not a thing. Plus, don't you know how I feel about Eve? You're the person I love."
Amelia smiled smugly when she heard his response. However, she said, "What about Eve? I think she had misunderstood us badly. I've never wanted to hurt her."
"Let's talk about this later on. I went to her house to see how she was doing. I can't believe she had to call the cops on me."
"You mean Eve was the one who called the police?" Amelia asked. She shook her head dubiously and continued, "I don't believe you. Eve isn't someone like that. She likes you a lot, right?"
"She likes me?" Alexander scoffed, "She doesn't like me at all. Today, I saw her getting out of a luxury car. The owner of the car was rich. She kept saying we hurt her, but that was merely her excuse. She must've been secretly dating another man all along."
Amelia was stunned as confusion flashed across her eyes. Her heart was full of hatred. She thought the person Evily loved the most was Alexander.
For the past year, she deliberately crossed paths with Alexander so that the man would fall for her.
Amelia was not only confident with her looks, but she was also good at putting up a front and presenting herself as a sweet, pure woman. She was popular in the entertainment industry – there were plenty of people who were obsessed with her. So, she was certain that Alexander would fall for her instead of that dull woman.
