The next day, after an exhausting day, Evily returned to her apartment. She received a call from Jamie asking her to meet for dinner. The address of the location was sent to her. She took a quick shower before heading out.
When she arrived at the restaurant, the server led her into a private room.
The moment she stepped in, the smile on her lips froze.
"You're here? Come in."
Jamie wasn't in the room. Instead, a man and Bruce, whom she didn't want to see, were waiting for her.
Bruce gazed at her and greeted her politely while puffing on his cigarette.
Evily met his gaze and felt her heart skip a beat. She walked to the table cautiously and took a seat.
The moment she sat down, Bruce started introducing the young man beside him. "Harvey, this is Jamie's friend, Miss Evily. This is Harvey Hart, a project manager working for VAST."
What is this?
Evily stared at Bruce, who returned her stare coolly.
'Can she leave now'
However, Evily dared not do so. She perched on her seat awkwardly and chatted with Harvey casually.
If this was an arranged blind date, Bruce should leave after introducing them both so they could get to know each other.
However, he remained in the room as dinner was served. Because he was there, Harvey had to pay attention to him, too.
After dinner, Harvey took his leave, but Bruce stayed seated.
Evily had no idea what the latter was trying to do. She vowed to deal with Jamie later on.
"Are you not satisfied?"
Bruce's sudden question snapped Evily out of her reverie.
She shook her head. "No, Mr. Hart is a fine man. Mr. Hudson, I don't have any intention to date now. Thank you for tonight. But please stop wasting your time on me."
Although her words were polite, there was a tinge of displeasure in her tone.
Bruce curled his lips up into a smirk and narrowed his eyes. He had a cigarette in one hand while his other hand was resting on the table. Something gleamed across his gaze as he questioned, "So, You don't like him?"
"No!" Evily immediately denied it. She mustered her courage and gazed at him. "Mr Hudson don't have to waste your time to introduce men to me. I'll tell Jamie not to trouble you anymore."
"What is your ideal type?" Bruce asked.
"It's not about that. I'm not interested."
"What about me?"
"Huh?"
Emily swallowed hard. She nearly choked on her saliva and coughed twice. Did I hear him wrongly?
"I am Bruce Hudson, Director of KOAL Corporation. Am I a satisfactory choice?"
"Well…"
That was the biggest shock of her life.
She shook her head profusely as her face paled in shock.
"M-Mr. H… Hudson enough with the jokes. Please, I don't have any negative thoughts about you. Back then, I was drugged and happened to bump into you. Thank you so much for saving me. It was just a coincidence. Besides, you're Jamie's uncle. Please don't take it the wrong way."
After a brief pause, she mumbled, "Thank you, Mr Hudson. I'll leave now."
-----
Before she could leave, Bruce grabbed her arm. Suddenly he placed his hand behind her neck, pressing her head toward him. The next moment, his lips were mashed against hers.
She was at a loss when the kiss took her by surprise. With her eyes saucer-wide, she forgot to react while passively receiving his kiss.
Although the young lady in his arms didn't return his kiss, the softness of her lips was sufficient to drive him crazy. He pressed her against the couch, looming over her.
When Evily came back to her senses, only did she realise they were in an intimate yet dangerous position. At that instant, she could hear nothing but her heart beating wildly in her chest. In a panic, she placed her hand on his chest to prevent him from moving any closer, whimpering in fear.
"What are you doing?" She pulled herself away from him.
Hearing that, Bruce let out a chuckle. "I am doing the same you did to me that day."
With her cheeks burning, she stood up and pointed her fingers at Bruce. "Y-You… Aren't you taking advantage of me right now?" Her mind was a mess, but she knew she couldn't let him take advantage of her like that.
"Do you not like it when I kissed you?" he asked.
"I don't!" She glared at him.
"Mr Hudson, I respect you as my elder. I'm sorry for offending you that night, but we're even now."
She put on a brave front and dismissed him.
Under her angry stare, Bruce raised his brow as he rose to his feet.
With his eyes darkened, he muttered, "Evily, you're the one who started it You've kissed your elder...."
"Don't say it!" She interrupted him. "I… I apologize, okay? I'm drunk, and I have no control over my behavior. Besides, you're sober. Can't you just push me away?"
