Evily excused herself from the private room. After splashing cold water on her face to cool down, she started racking her brain for an excuse to leave first.
As she exited the restroom while sending a text, she looked up and realized she had gone the wrong way.
She was just about to leave when she heard a voice in the corner.
"What is it that you don't like about me, Johnny? Why can't we give this relationship a try? I've loved you since the day I met you. Even if you don't like me now, you're still single. Give me a chance, please?"
Evily listened as the woman sobbed. My heart would have melted if I were a man.
Yet the man remained silent.
"Johnny!" the woman shouted.
Evily stopped short, only to see Johnny walking out from the corner.
The woman had caught up to him and was hugging him from behind.
"Eve!" Johnny called out abruptly before could feign ignorance and walk away.
Her legs gave way, and she almost fell.
The woman gave Evily a hostile once-over.
Johnny's lips curled into a smirk as he distanced himself from the woman and cast Evily a suggestive glance.
"Come here, Eve," he ordered, allowing no room for rejection. Yet his tone sounded somewhat gentle.
Damn it!
"H-Hello" She let out an awkward chuckle. "Johnny, I'm here with some friends, so I'll just…"
Evily had barely taken a step when Johnny approached her in large strides, embracing her while caressing her waist with his fingers.
He tugged his lips into a wicked grin at her expression.
"Johnny…" Evily stammered, wanting to push him away. However, his actions and her term of endearment only made them look as though they were flirting with each other.
The woman's expression clouded over as she shot Evily a death glare.
"I didn't know you're into this type of girl" the woman mocked.
"No, no, no, you must have misunderstood. I-"
Johnny tightened his grip around Evily's waist, forcing her to shut up.
The woman turned on her heels and marched off. Evily looked up at Johnny with a frown.
"What is that?" She stepped back.
"Isn't great to have A-list celebrity as a boyfriend?" Johnny chuckled.
"Lucky me!" Evily grinned but all of a sudden, she felt dizzy and fell into Johnny's arms.
Johnny was taken aback. He immediately carried her in his arms. The elevator's door opened.
Bruce who coincidentally was inside the elevator, saw the two of them in each other's embrace.
Evily gasped and lowered her head, avoiding his eye contact. At the same time, she also pushed Johnny away. "Thanks. I'm fine now."
Johnny asked, "What's wrong?". He looked at Bruce and thought he seemed familiar but could not recall who he was. Anyway, he still greeted him with a nod.
Johnny had to drag Evily into the elevator as she refused to get in. She tried to hide between Johnny's arms as she could feel someone staring at her with a murderous scowl.
The few seconds in the elevator felt like forever.
When the door opened, she mustered up her courage and ran out of the elevator. That took Johnny by surprise, and he immediately ran out to catch up with her.
Johnny brought Evily to his car. At first, he insisted on sending her to the hospital, but upon knowing that there were paparazzi around, he had to part with her.
On the other hand, Evily took a cab and went back home instead of the hospital.
-----
It was an unknown number, so Evily was cautious enough to ask who it was.
"It's me. Come down."
Bruce cut the line promptly.
It took a while to realize it was Bruce. No one else would order her that way.
She dithered for some time before changing her clothes and went downstairs.
"What is it?" She asked as soon as she saw him. She had been drowsy the entire day and did not have the energy to talk with him.
"Have you lost your memory?" Bruce asked icily.
Evily looked into Bruce's eyes and answered in a steady voice.
"No, I didn't lose my memories."
Upon seeing her reaction, a vortex of anger swirled inside him. He grabbed her by the chin and forced her to look into his eyes.
"What do you want now? Money? A house? Or a car?"
"Get your hands off me!"
Evily pushed him away. "Bruce Hudson, you are si..." Before Evily could finish her sentence, she fell on the ground.
Bruce was taken aback. She quickly went closer and found out she had fainted. Without hesitation, he carried her and took her to hospital.
Evily woke up and realized she was given a drip in a hospital.
While her head was still spinning, the man extended his arm and touched her forehead to check her temperature.
"Hey."
Evily looked at the man beside her.
The man, who looked a little dishevelled, gently brushed his masculine hand against her cheeks. He then retracted his hand and sat quite a distance away from her.
