R: Sylvia
L: Gran, Receptionist, Secretary, Marcus
Narration: Minutes later, Sylvia descends from the stairs dressed in a corporal suit. She runs into her grandparents on her way out.
Gramps: Off already?
Sylvia: Yeah, I need to be there before seven o'clock in order to meet the CEO. The secretary said that he had an appointment this morning by eight.
Gran: Alright, be very careful.
Sylvia: I will.
Narration: Sylvia walks out the front door and flag down a cab in front of her house. She gets in and it drives off.
Narration: The cab pulls up in front of a sky scraper. Sylvia hands the driver five bucks and climb out of the cab. She looks up at the building and inhales deeply then she walks into the building.
Sylvia: Hello, good morning.
Receptionist: Good morning to you. How may I be of your assistance?
Sylvia: My name is Sylvia Werner. I am here to start my job in tech department. I was told to come by seven in order to meet up with the CEO.
Receptionist: You are one lucky girl, the CEO just arrived. Take the elevator up to the highest floor. Then you take the stairs up to the VIP lounge. His secretary will lead you to his office.
Sylvia: Thank you so much.
Narration: The receptionist hands her a key card and she turns to leave.
Receptionist: Emm, Sylvia?
Sylvia: Yes?
Receptionist: Good luck on the job. Our CEO can be a very hard man.
Sylvia: Thanks again.
Narration: Sylvia follows the receptionist's instructions and found herself in the most expensive VIP lounge she has ever seen. She walks up to the receptionist.
Sylvia: Hello, good morning.
Secretary: Good morning. Sylvia right?
Sylvia: Yes. I have a meeting with the CEO.
Secretary: Yes. He is inside and waiting for you. The office down the hall.
Sylvia: Thank you.
Secretary: And Sylvia?
Sylvia: Yes?
Secretary: Good luck.
Sylvia: Emm, Thanks.
Narration: Sylvia nervously walks down the hallway and arrives at two massive doors plated with gold. She looks down and noticed the 'welcome mat' was in disorder. She bends and rearrange the mat and stands up.
Narrations: She raises her hand to knock but the door opens. She walks in and looks around. This was the biggest office she has ever entered. It was like a penthouse with a massive mahogany desk at the extreme end of the office and glass walls providing a magnificent view.
Marcus: Come forward. You know, you really didn't have to rearrange the foot mat.
Narration: Sylvia walks forward towards the desk but the man seating at the desk had his back facing her. She stood beside a chair waiting for his to tell her to sit.
Sylvia: Were you watching me?
Marcus: Since you entered this building.
Sylvia: well, someone told me that first impression matters, besides you wouldn't know where your help would come from.
Marcus: That person must have been a good friend of yours. Aren't you going to sit down?
Sylvia: I don't think I have been asked to. And no, the person and I didn't get off the same foot.
Marcus: Do I know you? Your voice is awfully familiar.
Narration: Marcus swivels his chair to face Sylvia and drops some of the files that he was holding in his hands. Sylvia bends to pick the files with the intention to remove herself from his sight. Marcus bends to pick it up with her and their hands touch. Sylvia picks the files and drop it on Marcus's desk.
Marcus: Wow, so it is you again. Isn't this a coincidence?
Sylvia: Wow, today isn't just a good day for me, is it? Who would have thought that you were the CEO of a respectable company?
Marcus: Do I smell an insult in that sentence? You are in my office after all. Have your seat.
Narration: Sylvia sits.
Marcus: I would have said that this was Karma getting back at you but I had offered the job before we had even met. Quite an impression you made the other day at the alley and to think that you actually quoted me.
Sylvia: Right back at you. And it seems you are doing the same here at your company.
Marcus: And what is that supposed to mean?
Sylvia: Just judging from the amount of good luck wishes I received on my way here and the statement 'Our CEO is a very hard man', I am pretty sure that you understand where I am going.
Marcus: Well, how about you tell me the names of those that told you those statement and we go on with the interview.
Sylvia: So that you could sack them or get them on probation? No, thank you.
Marcus: I don't think you understand what I meant, tell me their names and you will get the job. If you don't, you might as well as leave.
Narration: Sylvia gasps. She smiles and reaches for her bag. She stands up and looks at Marcus,
Sylvia: Emm, if you think that I will, take this job with the risk of making others lose theirs, then you are definitely mistaken.
Narration: She turns to leave.
Marcus: Wait, I never got to know your name.
Sylvia: Well, the name is Sylvia Werner but what's the use, it is irrelevant now.
Marcus: My name is Marcus. And if you don't mind, I would want you to take back your seat.
Narration: Sylvia turns and sits down looking perplexed.
Marcus: I never realized that humble people still exists out there and I will proud to have someone like you in my company.
Sylvia: Does that mean that…
Marcus: Yes, it means you've got the job.
Sylvia: Oh my god, where do I start? When do I begin?
Marcus: Now, if you want to but I need to know your capabilities. What level of difficulty can you handle?
Sylvia: Not to give a wrong impression, but I think I can handle the hardest there is.
Marcus: You already made a bad impression. But do you think you can handle the hardest job there is in this company?
Sylvia: How hard can the hardest job be in this company? I am pretty sure I can handle it as long as it pays well.
Marcus: Since you so confident, just excuse me. I need to make a call.
Narration: Marcus reaches for the phone and dials a number.
Marcus: Bring in the employment file, that of the hardest job.
Narration: Marcus drops the receiver and looks at Sylvia.
Sylvia: So what was that about?
Marcus: There is a file you will have to sign to become a full staff. So I told her to bring that of the hardest job.
Sylvia: So what job am I getting?
Marcus: The hardest job, just as you requested.
Sylvia: And what is the hardest job of the company?
Marcus: You are going to be my personal assistant.
