Chapter 21 - Week 3-Chaos

Our third week into training there was an announcement that the world has entered a full-blown war. Commander Shakari has the entire region on lockdown, especially since we are close enough to the county border, near the ocean. The world is mostly surrounded by water on all sides, with the Eastern States on the East, Western States on the West and the Central Countries in the middle. Some countries have islands and keys right beside them. Of the Eastern countries, Elysium is the largest country which has conquered almost all the southern countries, while Jaavien has conquered many of the northern countries. As for the Western States, Pileus is the largest country, making up much of the south, and Villagrose the second largest country making up much of the north. Within both the north and south of the Western hemisphere, there are many isolated countries, and partnerships.

At first the war started with schemes to conquer another country in the same region. Not all eastern countries were dictatorships, however Eliysiam, the leading country on the eastern hemisphere has slowly been conquering neighboring countries to expand its influence. On multiple occasions the Western States have tried to help smaller countries to resist those invaders. This has often led to skirmishes between different nations. Before the war, Eliysiam had already acquired over half of the eastern continent before aiming to take over the second largest country on that side. The war was originally contained in the Eastern hemisphere with the north fighting against the south, where many of the smaller countries combined forces to repel Eliysiam. They also started to involve neutral territories in the center most region.

When the full-scale war started between the eastern hemisphere three months ago, the western hemisphere started to get geared up for Intervention as many countries across the world have nukes. The nation I'm in, Pileus, is the largest nation on the western continent. We have treaties with a lot of countries on the southern part of the eastern continent As such war with Eliysiam has greatly affected our trade.

Just a little over a month ago Eliysiam attempted to sneak attack Aquuas, one of the neutral countries in the center of both hemispheres. As the country is in the dead center, they do not specifically identify with any specific side. Eliyisiam was able to kill their leader and replace him overnight with one of their own. This caused a civil war within that nation. Eliysiam forced conscription with every male 18 and above within all their conquered nations and used brutal force and torture whenever people showed disobedience. Pileuus attempted to intervene prior to their victory, but our intel was not as accurate as we thought, and it was too late. Soldiers were sent to try to quell the rebellion, but Eliyisiam soldiers would use civilians as hostages, forcing our forces to withdraw and regroup. In fear of the same thing happening to the other 2 neutral countries, troops were sent to aid them.

The fight to control the eastern countries between the north and the south fell to an all-time high at the beginning of the month when bombs were being used. Nowhere in the eastern hemisphere was saved. Many civilians attempted to desert their countries that were ravished by gunpowder and smoke. Many innocent people were displaced, killed by either soldiers or by bombs. Women and girls in the East were being used for the soldier's pleasure. Vast majority of people were displaced, injured, tortured or murdered. As we aided the Ragnom kingdom to fight back against Eliysiam, they saw us as a threat and sent suicide bombers to our country. At this point in time, three of our cities have been bombed and impacted. Many people have already abandoned those places to relocate elsewhere.

There are also other smaller nations in the western hemisphere that have been impacted by war. The smaller countries who dealt with Eliysiam have joined them in taking revenge and we are in a state of not fully knowing friends from foes. Our city is currently on high alert. Air traffic has been commandeered by the Air Force, only allowing for government flights. A lot of the streets have military personnel on patrol and are being fortified for defenses throughout not just our county, but the entire Western States. We have also retaliated against those who initially bombed us and, I hear, we are aiming to use hydrogen bombs. The Eastern States is almost completely ravished by war, and their sites have been set on the west where a lot of smaller countries have either fallen or been affected by war.

At the moment we have not been fully affected in the university and are still in strict training. While we are not right on the border or waterways, we are still in line to be affected if our neighboring cities are bombed. All children under 18 years, as well as many of the elderly are placed in bunkers and stocked with supplies which are being controlled by important figures. The governors of all city states give orders from a specific bunker designed for them.

Commander Shikari has issued a complete and full lockdown. We are also all required to participate in fortifying our city with whatever resource is available. The city has mostly been abandoned to allow for everyone to relocate to the university or towards bunkers throughout the district, which has been set up by different affiliated personnels. All able bodies not currently in training have been going around the district stockpiling resources in different bunkers. All the districts surrounding the countries are on mandatory personnels only. Unless people around the country near borders are essential employees, they are working from home. Some jobs have even closed. The military have brought all non-perishables from the local stores to be stored on campus in the warehouse under their control, as well as additional resources found throughout the district that have not been sent to the bunkers. When needed the soldiers would collect fresh ingredients from local gardens and farms, as well as stores, the few which are still open. The commanders have allowed those with knowledge of farming to remain on farms, but only those who have been properly trained are also followed by soldiers to protect both the crops and them. Farmers were required to learn basic defenses, what to do in case of an emergency, and required to create their own temporary foxhole/ bunker or underground cellar.
