All communication outside of the city is cut off. Phones and radios only work within the same area-almost as if a signal blacker is placed in each region. We are able to see bits and pieces of what is happening around the world because of drones being utilized for news. The drones, like everything else, were unable to leave the "semitransparent globe".
What we understand is that the entire world is affected by this signal block. No one can communicate with their relatives and friends unless they were already living within the same region at the time of the apocalypse. Due to this fact, everyone is essentially on their own.
Since we can communicate within the same region, we are able to keep afloat of everything happening at home base- which we have dubbed the university. The city mayor, Mrs.Lopez has kept her position, closely working with Cpt Garcia. Every day they report to Major Tatsuo. As an honorary member of the command team, I've been included in the briefings from the third day on our envoy. We would kill the undead and animals alike on our path, when there is not a lot we would just run them over. Everyone in the vehicle which runs them over gets .5 points. Each individual kill amounts to one point towards evolution and each assist, depending on how it ranges from .2-.5 points. After our awakening, which we would later come to understand is our evolution, everyone is able to see their status.

Tatsuo Shikari descends from a military family. They have often been considered high in prestige having produced many generals, as such they are often considered stoic. While not all family members choose to join the military, they mostly remain in public service. As the second son, Tatsuo has often shown talent in the military arts. He was able to graduate with a bachelor degree at the age of 15, and a master's degree at the age of 19. At the age of 18 he attended officer school in order to become an officer in the army.
Throughout his career, he has had many joint operations between the other branches of the military, having a wide range of experiences due to how easily he absorbs knowledge. Because of his hazel eyes, symmetrical face and straight teeth and nose, he is considered one of the best looking wherever he goes and is highly sought after due to his background. Tatsuo, as someone in his mid twenties, has never felt the need to settle down or felt moved emotionally by another person. Tatsuo has always kept a reasonable distance from females, choosing to focus on his career to the chagrin of his family.
Although Tatsuo appears rough around the edges, he is very close to those who he holds dear, that includes members of his family. It was not until he moved to the city of Poliisis that he started to be moved emotionally with his interactions with Amaris. The first time he saw her smile at graduation when she walked on stage to receive her Doctoral degree, he could not take his eyes off her. As someone who has discipline, he was not one to show interest. Knowing that she was in training he would only glance at her when no one was looking and speak to her only when appropriate. As training was tough, her spirit remained indelible, constantly shining through and leaving an invisible mark in his heart. He fought himself constantly to appear stoic around her and only his two childhood friends LT Davis and Cpt Hernandez were able to realize he had started to develop feelings for her.
Major Tatsuo accepted Amaris's request to join him as both a way to make sure she is protected, but also as a way in hopes of getting to know her better. Even as the world was dying, he could not help but be moved by her, especially her quick wit, jokes and positive energy. He also admired how quick she was to join the fight. The first week during the envoy across the city have seen them becoming closer partners.
Upon the worldwide notification of unlocking potential a screen appeared in front of Tatsuo. As someone who has dabbled in many games when younger and occasionally when he has breaks, it was easy for him to accept the screen. Tatsuo glanced at Amaris who was also looking in front of her.
