Chapter 26 - Week 5: Evolution 2

Upon hearing the announcement from the mechanical voice, I was able to look at my screen outside of the space for the first time. It was determined that we can only see our own status. Since starting our convoy, this is the first time I've actually looked at my stats. When I looked at it, I noticed it was much different than what I saw in space.

Announcements

According to Cephirah the reason my level is different from when I saw it in space is because I was leveling up while being Un awakened. Majority of the level points I earned were converted to Space points. Prior to my evolution as a powered person, the system was increasingly level along with space in order to make my body more adoptable and durable. Upon my evolution the Space was no longer my primary link for leveling up and adapting, but its level up will add points to my own current character level up. Every time the space levels up, half a level gets added to my own stats and automatically fills half a gap to my next level. At every chance, I would always imprint different knowledge into my mind, mostly for cooking and plant life. I was also able to continue planting and harvesting with only my mind within the space, which took much more mental energy than if I was physically present. For this reason, my mental power continued to increase.

During our convoy, our meals mostly consist of MRE's and the occasional animal/plant we killed. At first, we were not sure if any of the animals could be eaten, but one of the people in our convoy refused to eat MRE and barbecued a chicken that he killed. When nothing happened, we realized the animals did not contain any harmful substances and could be eaten. I also realized that upon consuming the animals it felt as if my body became lighter. No one else could tell. But Cephirah informed me it was due to being semi awakened. Because the animals evolved, they contained elements that would benefit our own level up upon consumption. The more dangerous animals, the higher the points. Our awakening has also allowed us to see the level of the animal/undead, as well as some information on how to kill them. The first three of us to awaken, as we later learned, have been given a B-level appraisal skill. Everyone else was able to have a general appraisal which showed the name and level only.

My appraisal skill had a note due to my profession as a botanist and medic, I would have more detailed knowledge in my field. My skill is limited to items that can be used for medicine. I also have a full level appraisal for all plants which details: the name, strengths and weakness, level, status, benefits, growth details as well as all potential uses.

After the announcement for the first three awakened, those around us also started to awaken. One thing we learned is that everyone was given a space of 20 meters long, as well as being assigned a profession. As a person with the commander title given by the system, Major Tatsuo was able to see the profession of everyone remaining in the convoy through his appraisal skill when he asked us for our profession. With this, he was able to split us up so we can continue our travels looking for other survivors and collecting resources. Half of us went north and the other half went west. At this point we had actually traveled about half of our region, only now everyone has access to space which was able to be utilized. There would be a report time of 1700 every day and we were given enough supplies that would last for 3 weeks- to include our return trip to base. As I had the best appraisal for plants, I remained in a convoy with commander Tatsuo consisting of 7 people, 2 civilians, and the remaining of us being military affiliated personnel. Our convoy consisted of 1 Humvee with 3 military personnel,1 MTV consisting of 1 civilian and 1 soldier and 1 HEMTT, consisting of 1 soldier and 1 civilian. In the Humvee was the driver, Cpl Lance Trudy, me in the passenger seat and commander Tatsuo in the back, we were leading the convoy. Sergeant Emma Henderson was in the MTV with police officer, Deputy Mack McKenny. At the end of the Convoy was Corporal Rudy Turner and detective Erwin Miller. Our envoy which originally started with 30 people was split in half, however captain Tatsuo separated the team in order for a team to scout.

The six of us became a scouting team, collecting data on key locations such as: the more dangerous locations, city limits we can reach and places with possible natural resources. It was during this trip that we learned we could not leave the city, as if a dome covered us and the exits. We could only drive around the city, town and villages that rely on the city. Along the way the captain and I would take note of the monsters (as we have dubbed the animals, undead and evolved plants) we came across in order to classify the dangerous ones and safety measures to be taken using our appraisal skills. We also continued to level up as we killed them whenever we would find a location to scout. For safety we all slept in our vehicles and would only cook whenever we felt it was safe to defend. The rest of the time we would eat MRE's and canned food. At this point in time, we rarely ran across people. We did meet a few people who refused to join us and who we did not force to join us. We simply gave them pointers, explanations as well as informed them of our base. Other times, we all utilized our space, especially when we killed animals that could be eaten or resources.
