Chereads / Surviving our New Reality / Chapter 22 - Week 4-D.Day

Chapter 22 - Week 4-D.Day

This week is when everything truly became real. Countries surrounding us have experienced a detrimental change in leadership.

Each country has faced internal chaos, violence, screaming, and pain. There are examples of cities having to recall soldiers and going on marshall law because people have been breaking into stores. Some people have started to kill and fight over material objects because "the world is ending". All the cities within the country have been finding their own fences and creating borders. Border cities which have already been commandeered by the military are in better condition than others. Other cities and states have recalled all military personnel, including those no longer on active status but still on a contract. The capital of the country, Anira, is still balanced between the military and royal family.

On the third day of this week, Countries have started utilizing bombs as their primary means in the war. There have also been air explosions by nukes where the western hemisphere and the eastern hemisphere have to destroy nukes with other nukes creating explosions in the sky on the center most part separating both hemispheres, greatly affecting the already impacted Central Countries.

We are no longer in training. In fact, it is now a matter of survival, even so, or there is still order being maintained within our city town. Five more cities have fallen within this month within Pileus alone. 8 Countries in the Western hemisphere have been reduced to rubles. In the Eastern states, many places have also been reduced to ashes.

——————————————————-

Today is the fifth day of week 4 training, and countries have started to utilize hydrogen bombs. Over 1/3 of the eastern hemisphere has been reduced to rubbles and death. The news is currently being reported through the use of drones, as it is too dangerous for actual people to go to the war zones. The most seen on television is currently smoke and dust rising into the atmosphere. Dark ashes are raining down in almost all the countries throughout the world. The most heard noise is from guns being fired, there is also the use of grenades and bombs which you can hear, echoing across the globe. It is on this day that things have changed.

It was exactly 12pm. It is on this day that a noise spreads across the entire world, with it, the song that marks the ending of an era, and the beginning of something new. The noise that was heard by everyone was loud, originally sounding like static before a Loud "Ding" was heard. A screen seemed to appear across the sky showing the violence and destruction being frozen. We later learned that even those who were in hiding and underground could see the screen and hear the voice. The sun was completely gone and the sky became gray. Damage caused by grenades, bombs or nukes were disappearing or reversing completely. All the chaos from weapons were stopped, as well as explosions which seemed to have reversed. Soldiers who were at war could not move their bodies, as if they were frozen in place.

"Due to the destructive nature of humanity the protection period is now over. you all will learn what true chaos is. You will realize that you're not alone in this universe, that you may in fact be the weakest of all beings. The world you live in once experienced, peace, a peace freely given to you where you do not experience the brutality of the other worlds. From now on, everyone must fight for survival. The corpses of your brethren will be the key to your survival in the world to come. Not all of you will receive the tools, and not all of you will know what to do. But upon the blood that has been spilled by you, will be the chance to gain strength. You will have three days to survive what is coming! This is the start of the apocalypse. it is up to you to find the right tools to use, it is up to you to figure out how to survive. In one week, a new world will open up and not everyone will live to see it. Good luck to you all." The voice disappeared but the screen remained.

The voice sounded a bit mechanical and no one was able to tell if it was the voice of a male or female. After the warning was over, we could see corpses rising from the dead. Wherever there were animals, they started to grow in ferocity and sizes. We could hear roars from the woods outside of campus. The screen above us showed images of dead bodies clawing their way from the ground, animals in the process of evolving: growing in size and ferocity. The frozen soldiers and people whose bodies were frozen were able to move. And people could be seen on the defensive attacking the dead bodies and animals. On our campus alone, we had to kill animals when we saw them start to attack each other and us.

From the screen we could see dead bodies which looked like they were clawing their way from the soil. In places of war, we could see the bodies littered on the ground clawing at people. They had dead/hollow eyes, and appeared as they did when they died. Some of them are missing body parts, and appear slow. The others, whether with a fracture, broken bone or twisted body parts walked towards the other soldiers who were still alive. Not only could we visibly see the "zombies" attacking people, we could also see clips of newly evolved animals ferociously biting, clawing or killing people. The zombies appeared hard to kill, as the only ones who stopped moving completely were the ones whose necks were completely removed from their bodies. Regardless of how they are killed otherwise, they remain on the attack, even with parts of their bodies falling off. Even so, the good news seemed that the number of zombies did not grow. As this was happening, chaos, mutiny and fight broke out everywhere. Those around me went to find whatever weapon they could find. As we were on campus there was not much undead but rather animals that posed a threat. From the barricade surrounding the university which had become our base, we can see the dead crawling out of their graves. Along with seeing them, came a stench of decay.
