Chapter 21 - Walking away

Liv encountered Joanna at a quaint local café, her eyes puffy and red from crying, tears still streaming down her cheeks as they sat opposite each other. Liv wasn't particularly eager to delve into whatever issue had brought Joanna to tears, but she felt obligated to lend a sympathetic ear.

As Joanna began to speak, her voice trembling with emotion, Liv couldn't help but wonder why she was always the one Joanna turned to in times of distress. "Why does she rely on me so much? Am I her sole confidante?" Liv mused to herself, a hint of annoyance flickering across her features.

Sniffling, Joanna managed to articulate her distress. "I... I'm sorry to unload on you like this, but I've just discovered something that's shaken me to my core. I'm terrified, Liv. I don't know how to cope with it or what to make of it. I need your help, please..." she pleaded, her voice trailing off in despair.
