After the vampires left, Gillian fell to her knees beside her sister's limp body and wailed loudly. The ground around them shook, and suddenly, it started raining heavily. This did not stop her from crying until it was raining blood. Animals and birds came and surrounded them, joining in their sorrow. She then stood up, and as lightning came from her hands and legs, her eyes turned bright blue like that of lightning, and her hair was blown back by the storm. All the animals bowed before her as if compelled to do so. The other witches joined the animals. As it had started, it ended. It stopped raining, the animals went back into the woods, and she landed slowly on the ground. She joined the others, and they opened a portal to their home, carrying the body of her sister in their hands.
Arriving at their home, they headed to the ritual area for the dead. The other team was still shaken by what they had seen, but they knew it was better not to ask about it now. Everyone wore white ritual attire. They went by the river, where everyone else was wearing white gowns. The five leaders were wearing bright orange gowns and had red candles. Ursula was lying on a bed made of logs with purple vervain flowers on the sides. She was being wrapped in purple linen, reserved for the leaders, but it had black stripes because not only was she a leader, but she was also the coven leader. Gillian had sent a fire message to other covens worldwide, and many of them had come.
The ritual started at midnight. They sang a sorrowful song, and after the song ended, they all started chanting words in a foreign language. The elders of every coven placed their candles by her sides on the log bed. Gillian then pushed the log bed to the river, saying, "And the water shall protect her soul. The water shall guide her home. Let the candles light up her path." She let the bed float away. After the ritual, she gave a speech, explaining to her coven what happened. The coven was very angry and wanted to go for revenge immediately. But one of the elders, an old lady with grey hair, walked to the center of the gathering and asked them not to.
Upon seeing this, Gillian decided to share what she had heard to confirm whether it was true.
"The vampires said that one of you attacked their own, but from what I heard from my sister is that the vampire wanted to feed from the lady. I would like the lady to be left behind so she can testify that she was attacked and not the other way around. I want to assure you that I will fight for my sister and for anyone who has been harassed by the vampire before. But, first of all, we are going to help the Blood Moon Pack with their problem. When they think we have forgotten about what they did, we shall revenge. Then I will make sure that no one in the lineage of Reece is left to walk the earth. You can now go back to your own houses, but I would like to speak to the victim, please." Gillian requested.
A young lady with a boy of about five years old was left behind. They walked to where Gillian was standing, and she asked them to follow her to the office. There, she asked them to explain what happened.
"My son and I were out in the fields collecting herbs so that I could teach him a spell, as Ursula had asked us to do for our homework. Then we saw a child running towards us, and in a blink of an eye, he disappeared. Then the Russian vampire came running in pursuit of the child that had disappeared before our eyes. I wondered why he would come to our land like that. When the vampire saw that he could not see his prey, he started accusing us that we were the ones who had helped it escape, and he took my son, threatening to feed on his blood if we did not produce his son. When I saw his fangs had elongated, I stopped his daylight ring from working, and he started burning up from the sun. I took my son from his arms and ran all the way here to inform Ursula about the incident," explained the victim.
Gillian thanked her and released her to go back to her house. Immediately the lady went out of the door, the old lady entered the office. She looked like she was in her late 60s.
"How may I help you?" Gillian asked the old lady politely.
"I am Nina from the Crow Coven, and I have come here to warn you. I have the ability to see visions, and today I had one. I saw your coven scattered on a battlefield. I was told to warn you that the hunter Darrell is looking for is a girl, and she is a chosen one. If you attack her, your coven will be killed. Everyone will be killed by this girl when your power emerges with hers. You will die, and she will steal your shadow. As you know, a witch without a shadow is useless." The old elder warned Gillian before leaving.
Gillian called the team that was with her to the Blood Moon Pack and told them of the vision. The team agreed not to go for the war. Gillian called Darrell that night and told him that they had withdrawn from the war. She also told him that Ursula had been killed by Reece. Darrell offered his condolences, although he was very disappointed that they could not go with him to the war. He felt betrayed by them because when they were at war with vampires, he had helped them. But since the vision showed that they could die if they went for the war, he tried to understand the decision the witches had made. He could see that the council was about to come crashing down, but he had to get back his revenge.
